Joe Jordan must be pushing 70, and hasn't been a number 1 for 20 years. He's an ancient Steve Robinson.

Although not to stick the knife in, but McGhee's signings in the summer and January don't look good enough. Rather than any lack of effort, it's lack of ability. Chalmers hasn't looked interested since the day he signed (quite literally, was miserable at his unveiling), yet still gets in the team, while guy's like Laing, Kennedy, Ainsworth have been frozen out. Samson has been parrying every shot into the middle of the box all season and hasn't come for a cross yet. Hammell can't get fit, Lasley has looked done for 3 years, but hasn't even had his odd good game this season. McHugh has been unlucky with injury and between Clay and Lucas there might be a player, but it's not been good enough.

Maybe the decision makers watched Leicester last night? Was never a McGhee hater, but after the 5-1 on the tail of a 7-2 (either of which alone could've been written off as a freak) he had to go.

He got Dundalk into the Europa league group stages where they didn't disgrace themselves, and almost took them into the Chanpions league proper. I doubt we could afford him. They conceded 1 more goal in there 6 group games than we did at Pittodrie

Fair point. Ryan Bowman does look a bit like an immigrant.... I actually heard it first on Clyde super score board, so I'm looking at a lengthy ban!!
-
Yeah, that was a red card challenge!!!

See it was the main topic of conversation at the Celtic presser today, and Brendan has changed his mind. Comparing Bowmans challenge to the challenge on John Kennedy. By next week it will be compared to the assassination of John F Kennedy. So a tackle last Saturday is likely to be on the back pages the following Friday! FFS! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4253178/Brendan-Rodgers-calls-referees-protect-players.html

That article does read a bit like it was written by a Celtic fan.

Was he not referred to as "boyhood Celtic fan Owen coyle" by the media when he played for us? When I saw this thread at the top of the forum, I thought an ex player had scored in the champions league.
-
Yeah, I was more meaning the trial by sportscene angle, where they can choose to highlight or not incidents the ref has missed. We have had no luck with those either. We had a shocker of a spell where Higdon got banned for a fist pump and Jennings got banned for getting punched by him Goodwin.

What do we need a statement for? Are the club expected to release statements to shoot down ramblings or innuendo on Internet forums? If you've got something to say, say it.
-
They kind of had to show that though. Would be interesting in that case if he was involved in an off the ball incident or got off with one, would it be glossed over, or would they build the whole analysis around it?

The Lee McCulloch elbow on Cummins in the cup game when Rangers were in the 3rd division, was as blatant a deliberate elbow as you'll see. Didn't make the highlights, and try and find any footage or photos. Coincidentally mcculloch was/is very generous with his time for the media...

Faddy hasn't even been on the bench recently.

Not working for me. -
I agree with a lot of that. He's being unfairly ridiculed over what seems a natural (in fact quite reasonable) reaction to some trumpet sticking a camera phone in his face and calling him a f'ing clown. I'd say I tolerate McGhee because of the results he gets rather than like having him as a manager. He has been dealt a pretty shitty hand as you say, with injuries, suspensions, refs, etc. But His signings have been poor (or injured), and I have to question the contracts and lack of succession plan for Lasley, Hammell, McManus.... I think Pearson will strengthen us, but it's another player from that crowd of 30 something's who all have their best days behind them and I wonder if they are now holding the club back.
-
I'm confused now.
-
"Treated" would seem a strange choice of word if that's what he meant.
-
Was there not a bit of an issue between him and some of the established players? Kennedy is the only one of his gang left. (I can't even remember the name of that other muppet!)
-
I think that's all that needs to be said on Vigurs. On Forbes, he's a weird shape, his legs are too short or something. I don't think it's lack of effort that's his problem, he's just physically not an athlete, no pace, height or stamina. He does at least appear to apply himself to a point and does have some ability.
-
Both of them look like bookings to me, but the 2nd was worse than McHughs and more forceful than McDonald's. It was still an attempt to win a ball that was there to be won.
-
Not to forget the yellow card amnesty in the 1st ten minutes of old firm games. Scott Brown is pretty high up the league table in the bookings in the stats posted above, imagine the rules applied to him. He gets 3 of Mchughs tackle per game before he's spoken to.

I think Rangers finished the league cup final v St Mirren with 9 men in 2010. I tried to find a video online of the Kevin Thomson red, as it was the most telegraphed red card challenge you'll ever see. The video lead me to a couple of others. Check these 2 "hard but fair" challenges, certainly in the mound of the Mchugh red...
