I must admit I'm surprised at how many folk agree with the decision. There was a time when that wasn't even a foul. I realise that getting the ball doesn't automatically make it not a foul, but for the punishment to be the same for a genuine and successful attempt to win the ball as it is for a waist high swipe seems unfair. Not to mention some of the most cynical of professional fouls only being a yellow. The penalty decision in the Celtic game has opened up the video referee debate, but I'm not sure that helps on decisions like the Mchugh red, as it's a matter of opinion, unlike goal line technology or other points of fact. The Celtic penalty didn't strike his arm, which is a matter of fact, but if it had, it becomes an opinion on whether it was deliberate...

I think it looks bad with the still images or from the right (or wrong) angle. Extremely harsh in my eyes, but we'll never get it overturned.

Imagine your job was like being at Motherwell... Your company offer you a job, you take it, then piss off to work abroad for 6 months, come back, they offer you your job back, you take a month to wait for a better offer, then accept. Or go for a job interview on work time and take a week off to think about whether you're going to take the job with another company or not. Whatever you think of Mark McGhee as a person, we were heading for relegation when he arrived and we finished in the top 6. He's a good manager that seems to be able to get results under pressure. This season has been disappointing so far, the signings have been a bit of a mixed bag with a few not impressing and injuries to Mchugh and Lucas, but on our day we are a good team and with a bit of luck we could play the same team twice in a row and maybe string a run together. I doubt anyone below us in the league has won more than 2 on the bounce.

Is the boy on the line not offside? Don't think the goal is samsons fault either, probably not a foul, but surely offside? As boy on line is stopping Samson getting to the ball. Samson seems to have turned things round a bit recently, long may it continue.

I don't think it is, was just a suggestion the SFA could deem it frivolous. If Kiernan is the precedent, it was barely a yellow. In my opinion it was a stick on yellow, but you could argue he did leave a bit on him with the follow through, I doubt we'll win the appeal.

I believe they can increase the punishment (ban) for a frivolous appeal, so they may choose to make an example of us here for playing the system a bit.

What flags did they have? Agree with your general point though, it seems since their return Rangers fans have been pushing the boundaries of what they can get away with, and as they've never been challenged on it, they just do as they please. They started off being "clever" and substituting the bad words and dropping the add ons, but it does seem they've just reverted to their old song book as nobody has the balls to do anything about it.

I think there's a difference between the 2 scenarios you're suggesting. Managers do have favourites, they don't see the flaws in them that everyone else does (or alternatively, they see something they offer that others can't).

Agree with that, we have a frightening combination of dead wood and ageing experienced players leaving us pretty thin on the ground at times. For all Mccall wasnt good at, and admittedly relying on some luck, we had a pretty tight squad under him, with apparent quality over quantity.
