I can kind of understand why McGhee hasn't brought on ainsworth late in games at times, but like others have said, he can definitely contribute something, be it as an impact player off the bench, or playing the 1st hour of a game. His stats back up the fact he can be one of our most valuable players if we can use him effectively.

Looks an ageing squad at a glance.

Kiernan punched someone the other week and got away with it because he didn't catch him well. He would've been banned had that been upheld. -
They recalled him because Stekelenberg was injured. On Samson, I kind of felt amidst the celebrations at accies he had turned a corner a bit. Had a good game there, and didn't do a lot wrong in last few appearances. Still loves palming a shot into the middle of his box though...

I agree to an extent, but older stadiums tend to have a bit more character about them, and it would be nice if a new stadium could have some sort of character to distinguish it from the others. Not having massive gaps in the corner would help in terms of generating an atmosphere, although you're right, it won't by itself create one, that's down to the fans.

Don't disagree, but McManus is 34 and got a lot of miles on the clock, so a 26 year old with some experience seems like a good succession plan. I think you need some experience in your centre half pairing, so maybe this guy is seen as a longer term move to play beside Heneghan or whoever?

From McGhee's interview it sounded like they weren't in until yesterday (Wednesday). -
I know it's a different market, but Jermaine Defoe at 34 and Robert Snodgrass at 29 are both looking at £10million plus transfers. The return on investment would be this guy keeping us in the top flight, or helping us get 6th place even if in 2-3 years time we don't get a fee when he moves on. Financially we can't be having a dreadful season, we've hit the jackpot with our cup draws even if we didn't progress, 2 games against Rangers and a trip to parkhead all live on tv is financially the equivalent of reaching a semi final, possibly better.

Any time I feel optimistic about a fixture against one of the OF, it usually ends in a disappointing routine 2-0 win for them. -
Do Falkirk even need a 4th stand? Other than to complete the stadium? Probably all pie in the sky anyway, but as others have said, something like livi on the inside, perhaps with a main stand like falkirks from the outside, 10,000 capacity with maybe 2000 of that safe standing would be the dream.
-
I think the redeeming feature is the main stand looks quite nice from the outside.
-
Falkirks main stand is nice, if they intend to finish the ground, it probably will be one of the best, with at least some character, but a 2-3 sided ground is truly horrendous!! Easter Road was a real disappointment, I thought the atmosphere would be great with the newest stand and corners closed off, but it had the atmosphere of a morgue, although perhaps hibs being utter pish was a factor?

Scottish Cup - Fourth Round Rangers V Motherwell Sat 21 Jan 12:30

While I don't disagree, it's not quite as simple as that, if you half the price, you won't double the gate, in fact if you just opened the gates and let folk in for free, you'd be lucky to half fill Fir park for a game against Killie, Patrick thistle etc. What is a valid point though is that a bigger away support will enhance "the match day experience" for everyone. The away fan is also a massively neglected market. Probably one of the few places clubs could easily grab in a few hundred extra folk, but they treat them with utter contempt. Motherwell are a great example, our away support varies from 200 to well over 1000, obviously there are various circumstances that contribute, but a club that put on a good well publicised offer would undoubtedly see the benefit of an increased response. Obviously the 200 will go regardless, but there's another maybe 2000 Motherwell fans who already go to games and will attend some away games, but just need a reason to go. This applies to MFC too, make Motherwell an attractive away day, make "Motherwell away" the game the occasional away fan sticks in their diary. -
Scottish Cup - Fourth Round Rangers V Motherwell Sat 21 Jan 12:30

From what I've seen and heard about Rangers this season McGhee played it right. They have loads of possession for possessions sake and do nothing with it. Quite a few teams have gone to Ibrox and got a point or been unlucky not to take something by sitting in and letting them have the ball in the centre circle and taking their chance when it comes. I don't think we have the players to press them for 90 minutes, as was shown in the Celtic game where we tired badly. So to sit in, keep it tight then throw on skippy and have a go later on was a decent plan that nearly came off. Not sure what to make of McGhee? On one hand, it's reassuring he seemed to genuinely care, and realised the importance of the cup, on the other, does it just show up his "all about me" attitude? (Another positive, not mentioning some of the roastings he took at Aberdeen has wound that mob up! ) -
I think a lot of that has to be down to attitude or mentality. Reckon some players just mentally chuck it. Some were maybe never that good in the 1st place and basically just get found out eventually. A lot of a footballers career, particularly early on is just down to luck, be it right place, right time, or a manager taking a shine to you etc.
-
He could've made as many league appearances for Motherwell as he did for Celtic come the end of the season, although overall he would need a bit longer to get more appearances due to Celtic generally going longer in cups and Europe.
-
I think it's worth noting that his 2 "assists" came from a miss hit shot and a miss hit cross. Great pace and the occasional piece of brilliance, but ultimately not game aware enough to make the most of his only attribute.

Your post makes more sense now. There's only 2 Ross Forbes.... :sing:
-
How did he end up at Ayr? I thought he was doing well at Morton? Wasn't being a wise guy, but on further research, he was playing for Morton today against Dumbarton.
-
Theo Robinson gets a 2nd and apparently scored 2 in the last round too.
-
He looked like he shinned the ball across the goal for the 2nd too. If he'd caught that properly it would've gone for a throw in at the other side without bouncing.
-
I got the impression with his departure from Dundee United that he had some "issues". Was a decent player for us, seemed to be a bit of a bomb scare at Tannadice though. Good luck to the boy.
-
A lot of better players than Louis Moult have gone to England and flopped. Very few go straight from any side other than Celtic to the PL. Find it a bit of a stretch that Palace are looking at him, but stranger things have happened..... https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/hamilton-star-tony-andreu-reunited-5094532.amp?client=safari

I think you'll find selling all their best players is WHY they got relegated.

Think it's only violent conduct that carries to cup?
