We knew about it in plenty time to plan accordingly, and unlike in Europe, where it could be 2 games or 6 games we knew it was 4 games.

I'm sure I read Moult had hoped that rest would clear the injury, but when he started pre-season it flaired up again, so he needed an operation. That explains why he didn't get the op in June. I did wonder about him playing the 1st couple of games though.
  3. Did he have concussion? Or just a bad cut? Although can't see that gash being close to healing in 3 days anyway.

I can see why they did that, try to create something a bit different. I'd persevere with the penalties, as it's a bit early to say if that has been a success or not.
  5. I feel I've wasted it for everyone now. If it wasn't for the 18 month time limit, I'd be up at fir park now looking for a job chasing all those 5% cuts for a small commission. Almost as lucrative as driving a taxi! If Tom Hateley comes back to the uk for a fee, we'll be due a cut!
  6. In fact, you only get 18 months to claim it. Pearson from Celtic to Derby should've got us a payment too. Any others folk can think of? Shame ZFA's move to Bayern Munich fell through!
  7. It says "cross-border" transfer. Fulham to Aston Villa isn't a cross border transfer. On the up side. Are we due 5% of the £2.25 million Rangers paid Wigan for Lee McCulloch?

I'm told Ayr were treating it as pre-season, until it became apparent they could qualify. Had we beaten Rangers, you'd have probably seen more squad rotation from us, and in future seasons we may be able to do this with a better start, or easier 2nd seed. I'm hoping its a good time to play Celtic, and even a 1/4 full Parkhead is as good a gate as we could hope for at this stage of the competition.
  9. I doubt MFC would mention if they did get a cut. They tend to play down (ignore) any positive financial news.
  10. I don't know what I went to uni for if they are!
  11. £7 for a ten minute journey means an hourly rate of £40 an hour so aye probably
  12. I suppose you could say all the teams you've mentioned will pay similarly to Motherwell. So if they have to choose, and choose Motherwell, the money on offer isn't the deciding factor. Players coming up from England are unlikely to be coming to Motherwell for the money either, the SPFL gets more exposure than league 2 or the conference, so it's a chance to "put yourself in the shop window", but I doubt we pay any more than most teams in the lower reaches of English football. To answer your actual question, probably Hibs or Rangers.
  13. Any word on where we'll be seated? If it's the usual corner, it makes more sense to watch it on tv. If they have moved the away section I'll go.
  14. I hope I'm wrong, but I think those expecting us to get £1million plus for Marvin are going to be disappointed. When you see how little Dundee got for Kane Hemnings, I think clubs in our situation have to listen to decent offers, people know this, and will come in low. I think £500-600k might even be optimistic, although for once we hold a bit of the power as we've not let his contract run down.
  15. If I recall correctly, Rangers were offering way less than the valuation, and upping their bids in increments of 50p. Then Rangers took the huff when United sold to Blackburn who met their valuation with their 1st (public) offer.
  16. We've never played a team with top flight experience, if you want to deal in semantics facts.
  17. The club have a recent record of overplaying any financial hardship, while completely neglecting to mention several "windfalls" of this sort. Personally, couldn't give a shit about the money, I'm not going to tell my grandkids about the time I saw Motherwell make a £100k profit.... I noticed Leicester got a section behind the goal, rather than the corner (the extra allocation Rangers get), that could be the deciding factor on whether I go or not. I know Celtic had mentioned the negative feedback and relocating visiting fans.....
  18. We haven't played a league game yet, so conceded 0. I can see your point re. McManus, guy has made a particularly good career out of his ability, but his experience and leadership is an asset to MFC.
  19. It's pretty irrelevant where we are at the moment, as some teams have played 4 games. If we win on Saturday, we'll go through. If it will make some folk feel better, stick a £1 accumulator on the set of circumstances it would take for us to win and not qualify. Your winnings will soften the blow!
  20. If you look at Rangers results coming up through the leagues (and even in this very group) the 4,5,6... Nil hammerings were few and far between. Teams are normally well organised and focused when they come up against bigger better sides, and that's what we were up against last night. We struggle to break down premier league teams when they do this to us, so a 3-0 win is a good result, and from the 1st goal it was never in doubt.
  21. If we win on Saturday we will go through. Worst case group C&D go through on 10 points, leaving groups E-H all with runners up on 9 points. Our goal difference of +4 (minimum if we win) will see us through as the best 2 of those 4. All the worst case results (which includes draws with a specific team winning the bonus point) are pretty unlikely to ALL happen, and even if they did, a goal difference of (at least) +4 would still be enough in my opinion. Will be an exciting day though, with so many teams still in contention.
  22. An experienced number 2 is probably more important to an inexperienced manager. Mark McGhee has plenty experience, so don't think that's a big worry.
  23. All good stuff from ya beezer, but it's based on 2 rounds of games, with no upsets or draws as far as I can see. If we win both our games, we'll go through. But if we were to look for a messed up way to go out, win both our games, Stranraer beat Rangers, all 3 teams on 9 points, lose out on goal difference, while other teams go through on 8 points.
  24. I'd be surprised if any team didn't go through with 9 points. I'd expect 8 points, possibly even 7 will do. There's 2 or 3 groups where 3 teams are in contention, so they should cut each other's throats. I think there's a couple of groups already where 2 teams can't both get 9+ points.
