Motherwell V The Rangers Spfl Playoff Final 2Nd Leg 31/05/15
sbcmfc replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
I don't think they ever actively encouraged it? They have been actively discouraging it for about 15 years! (Since someone booted Ross Wallace if not before?) Short of erecting cages, there's only so much the club can do. -
Would save on the will he, won't he soap opera every 6 months.
-
You're awfy sensitive if that upsets you. As Busta said. h*n is a Rangers supporter, nothing more. The h**s have tried to make out it is sectarian in their never ending tit for tat with Celtic as a means of whataboutery and muddying waters.
-
Have we had an away game on TV this season? We were on quite a lot last 2 seasons, had become accustomed to being able to see a few extra away games. If my memory is correct, the 1st Celtic home game in October was our only previous TV game.
-
No idea? Just saw on one of the Facebook groups the guy saying he wasn't in prison as he was appealing to high court. That's all he said. I'd imagine it's the severity of the sentence being appealed (presuming you can do that?), but that's a guess.

Smoke bomb to pellet to just high jinks. That's some playing down. And I'd love to know where you got such medical knowledge of breathing problems
-
Is Faddy not "that guy" and he's barely got off our bench. Vigurs undoubtedly has talent, but for a number of reasons only showed it in brief flashes at Motherwell. He's a poor mans Gary Harkins.

But loads of us watch it happen with our own eyes, from very close quarters at times. Yes there is heavy handed policing, but it is usually a reaction to something. Often an overreaction, like Cappielow or St Mirren, but still a reaction. Your defensive style is kind of what people are getting at. The majority of folk want to get behind the Bois, but if they only publicly point the finger at others and any acceptance of responsibility is kept quiet, it starts to look like a group of spoilt neds who think they should be allowed to do what they like without repercussions. It would improve their image greatly if they appeared to accept their part in incidents.
-
I think there's a perception that "they" very vocally blame heavy handed policing, but don't ever vocally distance themselves from any wrongdoing.
-
Wasn't there, so don't know what happened. Part of me thinks Motherwell fans and specifically "the Bois" have their card marked and are victims of Heavy handed policing (as witnessed at Cappielow). But then a lot of folk are a bit fed up of it, as they do invite this treatment to an extent and certainly relish the cat and mouse aspect, as well as always pointing the finger at heavy handed policing and rarely if ever accepting any responsibility for the actions (pitch invasion, smoke bomb, etc.) that lead to the police response. I'd normally stick up for them, but I'm gradually finding it harder to defend them.

Would you apply such strict punishments to things like speeding in a built up area? I don't think anyone's saying there shouldn't be some sort of punishment for the boy if he gets caught, but I'm surprised anyone thinks a custodial sentence is necessary. Appears to me, this boys been made a real example of, as it's a hot topic (no pun intended).
-
Agree with Jam20 on both points. The Bois are great, and I go to more away games and take more enjoyment from home games as a result of their presence. However I do agree that they appear (from the outside) to be unwilling to accept any responsibility when there's aggro. The policing is often over the top, and they do appear to be under the microscope, but part of that is self inflicted, and I've no doubt that plenty of them enjoy the cat and mouse stuff with the police and stewards.

It was 5 months for the "crime" and 2 months for breaching bail conditions. I see your point though about the impression that could give. (Although the breach was going to a 'well game, hardly fleeing to Venezuela or starting a pub brawl)
-
It was a smokebomb not a flare I believe? Might seem pedantic, but quite a difference in the level of danger posed. (Zero to almost zero ) I agree it's daft, but the punishment is disproportionate to the crime. I saw on one of the Facebook groups he's appealing it. Good luck to him.

I presume in these cases, they are released from their contract to give them time to get a deal done, or at least have some interest that's fairly concrete. He'll want to be playing, was completely out the picture at fir park, so made sense for both sides.
-
We got Pearo as a free agent, he's arguably our best player.
-
Apparently that's off.
-
Is he not about 50? Been around for years!
-
Do people genuinely think Bournemouth are interested????

I just can't see where people are getting a value of more than £400k for Marvin Johnson. He's shown the odd glimpse that there's a player in there somewhere, but to say he's enigmatic would be an understatement. He has 2 1/2 years on his contract, say he's on £3k a week (which I seriously doubt) that still doesn't add up to the value of £400k that's being scoffed at. (I know that's not the way clubs arrive at a fee, but it's an indicator) I see some of the examples cited, although I'd write off Tony Andreu as a leaving present from Alex Neil. Dundee United have done well at getting good fees, but these guys have proved themselves over a reasonable period and are young enough to develop further and potentially improve and increase in value. Marvin Johnson has already kicked about the arse end of English football, he's 25, so he should be at his peak now.
-
I can't believe they want him! He's been here a year, and I can comfortably count his good games on my fingers. I'd bite their hand off if they piped up with a cheque for £400k for Johnson!
-
I thought he (ZFA) had some really good games for us. I think the problem was finding a position for him? Would probably be a good left wing back in a 5 man defence.... Remember him playing a stormer at tannadice in a midweek game we won 2-0 (maybe 2-1? We scored with our 1st 2 ventures over the halfway line...), Jon Daly tried to play on their right and bully him, but he stood up to it well.

That's a great point. Saturday was one of those days for Hearts! There's no doubt we had a bad day and didn't deserve anything from that game, but as others have said, we did have chances. On another day, Hearts 1st goal stays out (not seen anything conclusive to say it was in), they don't get the 1st penalty and Motherwell take their chances. All of a sudden we're 2-1 up on the hour mark.....
-
I just think he looks like he doesn't want to be here. (I've heard of other guys that didn't make it at Celtic, and despite getting opportunities, basically weren't interested if they couldn't play for Celtic .....)
-
Im not sure that's how it works? The manager should maybe ask? But ultimately if the manager asks you to play in goals, you play in goals. Maybe Stevie Hammell thought he was experienced enough to cope? If my boss asks me to do something, I do it, I don't tell him I'm not capable.
