I wonder how much differently things might have turned out had Stephen Pearson not fucked himself at Inverness or if one of the many signings had been a similar box to box midfielder? I think we had reached a point even at East Fife the other week where it was more a case of how long he could hang on, rather than if he'd hang on.

Rino Gattuso has applied for jobs in Scotland before. Not suggesting he's one i'd be interested in, but imagine he'll throw his name in the hat...
-
It's quite amusing, as whoever you suggest will immediately get a response along the lines of... "Fuck no" "Anybody but him" "Not that clown" Etc etc.

That (and other news reports) seem to make out the disturbance was a lot worse than it appeared at the game. Anybody a bit closer see what happened? It seemed they'd waded in to get someone they'd identified from the earlier pitch invasion and its kicked off from there, but the situation appeared to have been diffused long before the ref stopped the game, never mind before the reinforcements came running down the track. (That was slightly surreal, as nothing was happening ) I think the 10 year old ball boys standing yards away looking unperturbed is a good indication of how minor the trouble actually was and how massive the over reaction was. As I said elsewhere, short of an ISIS cell operating from behind the goal it was an over-reaction! I did see 'flow speaking to the crowd and he looked to be indicating he'd seen what had happened, I presumed this to mean he had seen it and knew it was OTT?

Him and Kennedy were both tricky ones for me. Grimshaw was always looking for the ball, never hid and gave 100% but he did also pass the ball out the park and lost possession a few times. Kennedy made some great tackles and has a touch of the Shaun Hutchinson hard tackling about him, but he also cost the 3rd goal and was involved in conceding the 1st as well!

The frustrating thing is that he doesn't seem to see the things that we can all see in the stand! The Morton left back was booked in the 1st half, we should have had Ainsworth on terrorising that boy! Robinson wasn't working, we could all see it early on. We were getting into good positions, particularly Johnson on the wing, but his final ball wasn't great (in fact awful!!), but then none of the 3 holding midfielders we seemed to be playing were supporting the attack. He was looking at 6 Morton players in the box and Chalmers and Leitch on the edge of the box. His system is rotten, and it doesn't really suit the players he has (most of whom he signed!!). This big diagonal ball we are obsessed with playing from defence is brutal, particularly as Marvin Johnson appears to be scared to header the ball (seriously what is that half arsed attempt he makes all about, he has no intention of winning a header!)

If tried to do a bit of research into him, and he does seem to be a genuine philanthropist. He's involved with university of west of Scotland and another project I can't remember the name of. Seems to be wanting to give something back to the community he came from. So I can't see him racking up a debt to himself so he can sell the ground from underneath us or anything like that. I'd started worrying he was another Craig Whyte!

As I understand it, the money Les Hutchison is putting in is all as loans, which have to be repaid by the 'well society or whoever takes over. I was quite impressed with his ideas for sorting out the off the park stuff, and cautiously optimistic about his "speculate to accumulate" philosophy. However, I'm starting to get a worry that given the size of squad with another cup run finished prematurely that we are just racking up a bigger and bigger tab. Marvin Johnson was a shining beacon of how this new system would work, but actually he's had 2 good games and the odd flash otherwise, he's not going to go for a million pounds. What happens if we clock up a huge debt to Les and the 'well society can't pay it back? At the moment that seems a fairly realistic scenario.

It's ironic that the backing the club are giving him to bring in players and staff is hanging round his neck as much as the results. (As in if he hadn't had the backing, we'd maybe cut him some slack?)
-
I've started to worry that Les Hutcheson could be another Craig Whyte! We seem to be throwing money about like its the mid 90s.
-
It's not going to be a sell out, so I can't see there being anything to worry about.
-
Sounds like a good game!

That smilie looks a bit sarcastic, but that seems a fair assessment to me.

I had no idea that Simon Mensing was German! I thought he was Scottish.

I have wondered if the rest of the support have got a bit lazy and over reliant on the 'well Bois to create the atmosphere at games. It seems until they start, there's very rarely any noise at all. It may be if there was something to sing about, it might help?

A look at Jennings disciplinary record would suggest he did tackle like a centre forward.

Has he played since January?

I'm also struggling to see how Law can be to blame for Laing having a nightmare. Law seems to be the favourite target for the boo boys, and I don't really see it. In some of our worst performances last season he was the one player that was getting pass marks, and didn't feel he did a great deal wrong last night. He was far from our worst player last night! Luke Watt did look ok, but he played 10 minutes against a part time team who had played 110 minutes, I'd have looked like Dani Alves if I'd come on when he did.

I'm slowly making my way through this thread, but had text my mate my man by man reviews, and they were remarkably similar to yours.

The comparison was more that; like Hughes, I have a worry that we'll rarely see Pearson 100% fit. I think Hughes 2nd spell has damaged the memory of his 1st spell, where he was a big player for us. I hope this won't be the case with Pearo.
-
I just get the impression he's going to be like Stephen Hughes (1st spell), always coming back from 1 injury, then picking up another and never quite 100%.
-
Both? Mcgeady definitely didn't say that. There was a rumour, but it's bollocks. Only way an EPL player would come to us on loan is if they are young and unproven. I don't like mcgeady and think he's pretty over rated, but he's far too big a name to come to us on loan.
-
He's been involved in all of our better performances where we've lost, but that is true, he's been involved in a few howlers too! Just thought it was an interesting stat, I was quite surprised we hadn't won a single game he hasn't played in.
-
It's a shame he seems to be made of chocolate these days, as I think he's a really important part of our team. To back up my theory, I did a bit of research.... Results since he signed in January: With Pearson: P-16 W-8 D-2 L-6 Without Pearson: P-8 W-0 D-2 L-6 So we haven't won a game without Pearo since he signed.
