As much as Chalmers had done nothing spectacular against Dundee United, I felt the game turned against us when he went off, although the changes United made played a part too. Probably bringing on Dom Thomas on the right left law a bit exposed, despite Thomas looking exciting going forward.

It's all ticket. 300 odd tickets went on general sale late last week, and haven't heard anything since to say they've sold out. Might be worth phoning before you go down, save a wasted journey....
-
Do you have inside info on this? I'd heard the same last season, but the players who weren't on board have been punted as far as I can tell.
-
Apart from at new Douglas park, where we appear to regularly turn out in numbers to see us get pumped! Never been to new bayview, got a ticket and looking forward to it. Thought a new ground would've tempted a few more along, not the most accessible ground midweek mind you. We had over 1000 at Livi (which I think was the last cup tie we won!)

Unlike the grammar. Tut tut!

Is he maybe filling a quota of under age players?
-
I hadn't really noticed. Doesn't look like the sort of guy that would put on weight and I've seen him out running himself in uddingston, so I doubt he's lazy (or he'd not be doing this off his own back (is it back or bat?))

Has his body shape not just changed with age? Are you comparing him to a 20 year old Clarkson?

I think folk (myself included) were expecting to see a difference in fitness like we did after Mark McGhee's 1st pre-season where McGarry looked a stone lighter, and Jim Patterson was 2 stone lighter. We also came flying out the traps at love street. Perhaps our rivals have come along in this department too? I don't think fitness is an obvious issue at the moment though, whereas at this point last year it was clearly an issue, so that represents progress to me.

I don't think they get much help from other clubs, the police and red tape. I've always found them to be helpful and friendly, but if you or someone you know can't pop over to fir park on a random weekday lunchtime, it's probably a bit of a problem. Or in Jays case, even if they do.... Our last 3 (4 if you count both legs v Rangers) all ticket games have caused problems, mostly outwith MFCs control.

I think in a lot of cases it's "all ticket" in the sense you need to buy a ticket from a window or caravan, rather than paying cash at the turnstiles. (St Mirren, killie...) There's a bit of scaremongering (bit extreme, but best word I can think) as it's easier for the clubs and police if you buy in advance and they know how many are coming. There's also the trust issue with stewards who man the turnstiles handling cash, clubs prefer the ticket office staff to do this. (I worked a couple of games at tynecastle and folk were fighting to get the cash turnstile.)

I still think some folk are serious!

I've no idea which of the comments are serious and which are wind ups.

It's quite funny! The fact people get so heat up about it actually makes it funnier!

I couldn't see it. (Nothing on his page for weeks) Any links?

Scotland have a tie up with JD sports, so think they're the only ones that sell the scotland shirt? You get a discount if you're in the supporters club, but they were over £50 to begin with. (I'd presume they're cheaper now as getting towards a new one.
-
I think some are £50+ these days. I'll maybe get one in January when they're 1/2 price.

Scoring system seems pretty flawed, probably weights it towards keepers too, as in a normal season you'd hope to only play 1 keeper, whereas outfield players are more prone to suspensions or rotation. Basically Mcmanus won it because he played the most games. Not because he was the most consistent performer. Brazilian has showed that average rating is a flawed system too. Perhaps a formula that combines the 2? Rewarding consistency and performance.

I thought in his first few months back Faddy was excellent, and the last 3 months of the 2012/13 season was probably the best I've ever seen us play, certainly since Mcleish was manager. His 2nd season never really got going at all, his lack of pre-season and the injury he got at morecambe(?) was almost certainly a factor in that, and he said himself he was close to chucking it and seemed to have lost the drive and determination we saw on his return. Having said all that, he made 30 appearances in a team that finished 2nd in the league, he must've contributed something (even if it was allowing others room to play as he was being marked out the game) I still think (perhaps it's hope?) he's got something to offer if he gets a proper pre-season under his belt and finds the motivation he had on his return.

Can anyone expand on the Stevie woods on the wing v Clydebank story? Was it a friendly? How did it come about? And was he any good? Cheers

Maybe chelsea? I had real madrid on my mind, but they've had pink, orange, blue...

Im sure one of the big european teams had a dark blue and fluorescent away kit last season, but can't remember who... Ajax did, but don't think that's the one...

Just caught up on the shaun Teale and Richie Foran podcasts. Both intetesting, Foran came across as a really decent bloke, and like Kevin twaddle I was pleasantly surprised at the warmth he had for MFC. I would question whether he did "get away with it" in terms of fitness at fir park mind you, my memories of him are blowing out his arse in as little 30 minutes at times. Didn't really know the Shaun Teale story, was in the days before Internet message boards and social media and working Saturdays at the time, I'd possibly become a bit detached. Always a player I liked though. Was good to hear his side, although he did come across pretty bitter, and seems to have fallen out with everyone everywhere he's been.

Always think of Clarkson as a poor mans kenny Miller! Will definitely have my head in my hands a few times watching him next season, but you'll not get a more honest hard working player. During some of our darker hours last season, I'd have loved to have some players with his attitude on the park. He's only 29, hes not slow, but was never notably fast anyway. As others have said, if you look at him as an upgrade on mchugh and Sutton, rather than a replacement for Erwin and Mcdonald, it's a good signing. I hope he does well, and think in the right conditions he will, starting with a good pre-season.
