It would probably be very difficult for all the teams to get the points required to stay above us with is winning 5/5. I can't see us winning 5/5 anyway, that seems a long shot, but it would need a real doomsday set of results for us to win all 5 and not catch someone if it's even possible? (Too many permutations, but if one team is winning another is losing, so they can't all pull away...)

Just to clarify, it certainly wasn't a criticism. The fact you guys are effectively just 3 mates talking about the football is part of the charm. Throwing "an outsider" in (for want of a better description) adds something different, which keeps it fresh. Keep up the good work.

Having heard the 2nd half, the guy actually improved quite a bit. I'm presuming the guy is 50+ which might explain why he came across a bit miserable. (I only need to watch St Mirren 4 times a season and that depresses me! ) Don't think the guy meant any disrespect, just that the 3 regulars are all mates and on the same page most of the time, and the guests patter wasn't quite on the same page, probably due to being an outsider and presumably a bit older.

I'm only halfway through, but I liked the idea of having an opposition fan on. It's good to get a different perspective, like many others I've drifted away from this forum a bit, and find you get better debate if there's a variety of opinions. I see a lot of the names from here on pie and bovril, or the TAMB. It gets boring if everyone sees things through claret and Amber glasses other than a few trolls. The St Mirren guy did appear to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder, but perhaps if he was on again he'd be a bit more relaxed?

I can't see the 11th placed team being rescued by a controversial refereeing decision!

Anybody else got the fear about the h**s hitting a bit of form? The run Ross county are on is unbelievable! 6 wins from 7, having won 2 from 24 in mid February! I'm hoping we can both drag Thistle and even killie into it. Our form isn't too shabby either. Beat St Mirren on Tuesday, and they're all but down, that's the 1st priority.

His wife had died shortly before he signed for us, leaving him and a couple of kids.

That was one of the first sky TV games (v Hearts) if I recall correctly? Chris McCart clearance straight up in the air into a wind, and ended up going backwards, keeper (Dijkstra?) caught it and Hearts scored the winning goal from the indirect free kick. And yes, the softy goal at rugby park was from an indirect free kick, think it got rolled to him and he smashed it in to the roof of the net? Other memory of that day at killie was Coyne doing a "Klinsman" celebration.
-
One of the only times I can remember seeing a win there Tommy Coyne got a hat trick! (Softy got the other)

This season is a slight exception due to the increase in squad size, in that we have a lot of over age fringe players, in previous seasons our fringe players would predominantly be under 20 anyway. 5 over age players is more than enough to give a couple of the subs, sub goaly and a couple coming back from injury some game time if they wanted to.
-
McDonald is grabbing the headlines, because from the outside looking in, it turned around when he came into the team, not realising that Pearson returned from injury at the same time and is arguably more important. Every one of us knew we needed a mobile midfielder. Suits everyone as McDonald doesn't seem to mind the limelight and has broad shoulders to cope with the attention and let the rest get on with it.

Aye, I'd make a 20 minute round trip from motherwell to Hamilton or vice versa on a Friday night, even if the game was on TV. The 6 hour round trip to Pittodrie, time off work etc for a game I can watch in my house or a pub is not a very easy sell! Only a real diehard or someone who happens to live or work in Aberdeen are going to that. This was how Friday night football was meant to be, minus the TV cameras.

I think he just felt it wasn't his place to say, he basically said it would be upto Barraclough of he wanted to share that information. Just keeping himself right, and respecting Barracloughs privacy. If I asked your boss about your business, I'm sure you'd prefer he didn't just tell me.

Surely there's a limit to how many folk they can expect to join? They have around 1000 members, a further 1000 seems fairly ambitious, but say they get them, how do they continue to generate revenue? If over 1/2 our core home support are already members, a large percentage of the rest are kids, there is nobody else. Renewals aren't going to bring in a lot of money, especially if they're not contacting members to pay their fee and relying on them to do it off their own back.

Was really good to hear Les Hutchison speak so positively, and with a vision to the longer term. He's put his money where his mouth is, not like John Boyle in the speculate to accumulate days of paying Andy Goram 8 grand a week, but investing in the future with scouting, tieing up promising youngsters on longer contracts, fitness and conditioning.... He seems too clever to throw good money after bad and has a plan. As Jay summed up in the extra time section, yes, we should be doing our part to sell the club, but paying £20 to sit in a freezing cold dilapidated stand watching shite football on a bumpy park on a Friday night is quite a hard sell to folk who have found other things to do with their time and money. More needs to be done to make the match day experience sell itself. He also did the best sales pitch I've heard for the 'well society! (I still maintain my charity begins at home stance, but if you'd handed me a pen and the form at the end of the podcast....) I hadnt realised how involved he was, he seemed to know everything that was going on. Good work guys, enjoyable listening. Thought you got the balance right in that you did challenge him on some things, without just being argumentative.

Seemed the best place to ask? I signed my son up at the sign up event about this time last year, meaning his membership will be up for renewal or possibly overdue. Should I be expecting to hear from the WS? (It would seem crazy not to be getting in touch with the folk in this situation, as many won't realise or know how to renew, but be willing to do so.)

The 2 goals on Friday night were very unlucky. The 1st he makes a very good save, if the ball goes straight in, there's no questions asked. Just horrible luck really that he's poked it in in the end. The 2nd is a break down in communications, he arguably shouldn't have and didn't need to come out that far, that may be a result of trying to make up for his error moments earlier? But it's Laing that should have been more aware of where Long was, and if there was a shout, should've left it. I didn't mind Dan, Long has been ok, but I actually didn't think Gunnar was as bad as folk made out either, his confidence was shot, and the chopping and changing didn't help. With a bit of faith and the crowd off his back, I think he could've done well. We've been spoiled with Randolph and Ruddy.

I think every one is allergic to asbestos. If they are qualified, they'll know what they're doing.

Is he able to sign for a Scandinavian or Russian team? Just checked, appears he can go to Finland, Norway or Sweden. Hope he does well for someone.

Just listened to the podcast. Quite enjoyed it, all quite reasonable and level headed chat. I'd like to think you guys thoughts are more representative of the support as a whole than some of the more vocal on this site who appear unbelievably negative at times.

He put in a horror tackle in the Dundee game that I've seen red cards given for. His 1st yellow on Saturday was a particularly bad tackle, yet ironically he appeared to get booked for the dissent rather than the tackle. As someone said, always injured or suspended.
-
Fair enough. I don't think he's the worst player on our books, and presuming its not breaking the bank, he's worth having around in my eyes.
-
I think he's a decent player, good utility player to have in your squad. I wonder if the reason he gets a hard time is that he's perceived as pish, because he came from Morton, but I've been told by a Morton fan he was far too good to be at that level (he did go on to say off the park he's a complete banger...).
-
I am still behind the gaffer, as are the club clearly, BUT we need to see a reaction on Saturday, and we either need to play players to fit the system or a system to fit the players. I would also say of all the signings, the only 2 that have looked any good, pearson and Grant, were probably brought in over his head, and I'd imagine McDonald falls into that category too. Fair play to the club for supporting him! I hope it's a gamble that pays off! So thank you Les!
