  1. While all that is correct, we have only really been outclassed by Celtic for the first 20 minutes and a 10 minute spell after the red card. Even in that game, we almost nicked a point. As I often said on our good runs, there is nothing between 2nd and 12th other than a break of the ball, a piece of genius, a refereeing decision and the resulting confidence boost that allows you to kick on. I don't think we're actually much worse than last year, and just need some luck, a dodgy penalty, a piece of individual brilliance or just a dug out scrappy victory to turn our season around. I'm looking at our next 4 games, and I could see us take all 12 points, but also 1 point. So many games over the last 3 seasons we've scrapped out results we probably didn't deserve or end up winning a game fairly comfortably after getting some early breaks.
  2. It's true though. Just about every realistic candidate mentioned has scorn poured over them immediately.
  3. That would solve my missing centre half problem! Perhaps him and McManus could work well together like Craigan and Reynolds when Reynolds broke through? (No pressure son! )
  4. With Kerr limping off, ramsden suspended, O'brien, Reid and hammell all injured we're struggling for defenders. Boy ferguson looked decent when he came on, can see him keeping his place at RB and if any of the rest get back in time, they'll go in at centre half. Erwin and Ainsworth perhaps earned themselves a start? Twardzik Ferguson ???? McManus Angol Lasley carswell Ainsworth. Vigurs Ojamma Erwin
  5. Yep, was 17 minutes on the clock, when he made a good run, and had no support, did well trying to hold it up and eventually gave it away (not his fault). The problem was, he was fucked for a good few minutes after that, and just walked back into our half.
  6. I liked Bart Verheul, purely because he had the same name as Bart Simpson, and I was about 7.
  7. Ambrose went down "injured" thought it was to disguise a handball?
  8. Think we'll need to give ferguson a game with ramsden suspended and Kerr injured. I thought Law wasn't bad, neither was ZFA, thought he did quite well, Forrest was very quiet, and I think Zaine deserves some credit for that. McManus and Twardzik both had good games, there was a 10 minute spell where dan pulled off 3 or 4 great saves, and Celtic passed up some great chances. Celtic should've been out of sight, but ended up hanging on. Anyone seen the TV pics of the 3 penalty shouts? Vigurs upped his work rate in the 2nd half, but he doesn't have the pace, fitness or work rate to be in the team, he's a luxury we can't afford
  9. We seem to have budgeted for doing well, but not factored in that doing well triggers bonus payments, or that's my summing up of the messages that come out of fir park.
  10. Aye, think you're right, I think he turned down the chance to take the job full time as he couldn't work with the budget? IIRC. I should say, I'm not pushing Calderwood for the job, just using him as an example to a more general point. That being, we need to give whoever gets the job a chance, and hope they're a good fit for us.
  11. I do agree with that point, both Dunfermline and Aberdeen were spending decent money on experienced players during his tenure. It was just an example of some positives for a random candidate, as every name mentioned is met with a negative reaction. The reality is, we are Motherwell, most of the candidates are going to be inexperienced, or have some black marks on their CV. Someone at the very bottom on the way up, or someone trying to get back up after being knocked down.
  12. Having said that, and it's not exclusive to Motherwell, Jose Mourinho could be mentioned and some folk would still moan. For example Jimmy Calderwoods CV is pretty impressive, he was the last manager before McInness to get Aberdeen in the top 6, and did it every year, took them to the knockout stages of the Europa league...

Would've been 2 or 3 down at half time were it not for Twardzik, so went for him. Ojamma had a good game, Vigurs was brilliant and terrible at the same time. One of Lasley's better games.
  14. Not so confident we are due anything? We've been on bad runs before where you expect us to click and give someone a doing, which often happens. However our recent form hasn't pointed to this at all. (Although admittedly the save just before the equaliser at st Johnstone was the turning point in that game, at 2-0 just before halftime, we should've gone on to win. It was a better performance too.)
  15. I remember getting a "tip" a few years ago, and was betting on the next Newcastle manager. Ant and dec were 1000/1, jimmy 5 bellies 750/1 and jimmy nail was 500/1. Presumably jimmy nail was twice as likely as he was apparently a decent player
  16. Butcher did seem to do quite well at picking up players for nothing and building a good team spirit at Inverness. On the other hand, he took over a hibs team in a similar position to ours currently and if anything, he made them worse!
  17. I must admit, I have. I remember it that he got offered the Sydney job, and it was a good opportunity, that I didn't grudge him, didn't work out for him in the end mind you. Don't remember it leaving a sour taste like McGhee or brown. Probably in part due to Sydney not being a direct rival?
  18. I'd take Butcher back, but he said he was finished with Scottish football after the hibs debacle. (Could be put off by it being worryingly similar circumstances at fir park too) Of all the names mentioned, Billy Mckinlay and George Burley are 2 that are probably not too unrealistic, available and I think could be good.
  19. I believe his partner is pregnant?
  20. I actually thought we played pretty well, particularly in the 1st half. Not brilliant, but better than we have been. However when the slapstick 2nd goal went in, our heads dropped and we showed no real fight, desire or urgency to try and do anything to change it. Depressingly, we have pretty much everyone available now, so this is as good as it gets! Just Craig Moore to return, and I think it would be unfair to place any expectation on a guy with a couple of starts and a handful of cameos from the bench to turn this around.
  21. Is their details on how (as in where the money will come from) these loans will be repaid? It seems that it's effectively a pay day loan, admittedly with friendlier terms and interest rates, but if the club is losing money every year, how can they afford repayments?
  22. That's how I read it. Rules out Craig Whyte at least!
