One of the loudest boo-ings I can remember at fir park was for Tommy McLean when he came back as Hearts manager.
-
Darren Jackson always got it tight. Mike Galloway and Peter grant in the late 80s and early 90s. The Kirk Broadfoot abuse was quite funny, as is Dougie Imrie, which appears to be solely because he's local??

That's great. I'd imagine for many the benefits are a way of justifying the expense though.
-
So what term does the "benefit package" run over?
-
How does the membership run? If I join today, is my membership renewal in feb 2015? Or does it run alongside the season? In which case I could wait until renewal time. Can't afford it myself, but was going to sign up my son, just wondering when best time would be.

Is it not widely believed that it's something to do with his insurance that Gordon isn't playing? I understood that to be the case. Ie if he signs for Dumbarton for £300 a week, he loses out on an insurance payout for injury ending his career??

I thought he was just offside, there was a dummy run by the free kick takers, and higdon went just a shade early. They probably could have stepped it up, but they could have panicked and not known whether to try and sit in and defend the lead, or go for it and win the game...
-
I thought they had one or two players that were just a bit above our level, and that was the difference in the sides. I wonder how things would have panned out if Higdon's early goal in the 2nd leg v Levante had stood? They were a solid side, but perhaps their arse would have collapsed?

The more the fans got on his back, the worse he got. He's scared to come for balls as he has no confidence, I'd blame the comical punch on him lacking any confidence due to the mistakes he had already made and the lack of support from the fans. Let's get behind the guy, he's the best we've got, and perhaps with a bit of support, encouragement he will get more confident and make less mistakes.
-
Perhaps if folk got off his back, his confidence would grow. Ironic cheers when he catches the ball will do nothing to help anyone.

The travelling support we took to firhill shows what could happen if this common sense approach was adopted! Playing Aberdeen on Boxing Day was never going to attract a crowd. Most folk are spending time with family, there's no public transport etc. I was actually wondering if the Boxing Day and New Year's Day fixtures are an outdated tradition? Is Boxing Day even a traditional fixture in Scotland? Or did we adopt that from the English?

Saw the pictures on sky sports, and with nearly 5 hours to KO and no more rain forecast, it didn't look that bad. Difficult decision given the criticism they get for late call offs, but you wonder if they are sometimes over cautious?
-
I suppose the difference was that Randolph and Higdon got a better offer, Hateley didn't and didn't get a club until October I think it was. I didn't mind him, and I think a lot of the reasons folk don't like him were outwith his control. (Ie who his dad was, and the resultant media spot light)
-
My only concern with Ainsworth was when he wasn't playing, which appears to have been injury. Any time he has played or come on I've seen; sometimes just in flashes, that he offers something. I trust Stuart McCall, his signings have; in my opinion, been far more hit than miss.
-
His 1st couple of games appeared to be at right back, not sure about any games since. I agree about central midfield, I think he had one good game there out of around 10 attempts, whereas he was a fairly competent right back barring a handful of games where he couldn't handle his opposite number. Only people that thought he could play centre mid were him, his dad and on occasion Stuart McCall.

I don't like the booing of ex-players when they return to Fir Park. Some I completely agree with, guys who leave on bad terms, or bad mouth us on departure etc. Pearson and Kerr are 2 that spring to mind. I cringe a bit when people boo ANY ex-player, guys who did a good job for us and left on good terms, like Foran, or who were surplus to requirements, like Forbes or Fitzpatrick. Tom Hateley is an unusual one, in that a lot of fans never really took to him, despite being fairly steady, even if he did take the odd roasting (templeton at tynecastle was a horror show!). The way he left was perhaps not all of his own making, it wasn't him linking himself with a move to ibrox. However he thought he was too good to take our offer, and it turned out nobody else wanted him, and by the time he realised we no longer needed him.
-
Thought thistles centre half Piccolo was our main danger man, but Faddy was good too!
-
There might have been a roof on the east stand, but not at tynecastle, Easter road, rugby park......

Toss of a coin between ainsworth and Anier!

Given the relative success of "police free" games at fir park and other grounds, could we host Celtic with no police? I'd have said no, but given that if it actually does kick off, they're just going to watch anyway, why were the club forced to pay for them to be there?
-
20 fans x 20 games = 400 tickets. 6,500 fans x 2 games = 13,000 tickets. I don't like it, but that's the maths. Motherwell are probably doing the right thing by letting the pictures do the talking and keeping their counsel on this one. Last night appears to have been a tipping point for the silent majority of the Celtic fans. Motherwell putting out a statement slating the Celtic support will turn it back on us. Let them deal with it, quietly send us a cheque in the post, and hope it doesn't happen next time.
-
If we could have the james McFadden of feb-May last season I'd agree!
-
I've liked the Puma kits. With the exception of the current away strip, which to be fair isn't hideous, it's just very dull and doesn't really say Motherwell.
-
Have to agree re Jennings! We certainly do not need another fairly immobile defensive minded central midfielder!! Currently our most mobile midfielder is Paul Lawson, 'cos he's got 2 phones.
