If there was such a thing as a bogey team it would have to be Rangers!! So many times we could have, should have, or nearly beat them over the last 12 years, but not managed it.

I think jim gammon had some excellent attributes as a manager, unfortunately his man management skills and commitment to MFC were not among those attributes. I don't think anyone can argue he brought some very good players to the club who went on to be the spine of our team, alongside the guys he completely alienated. He also brought the best out of some young guys, Forbes and slane immediately spring to mind. In the transfer market Yassin Mouthakil was the one black mark I can think of. (I also don't think he was completely wrong about 1 or 2 of the experienced players, although that's maybe more a cultural thing in Scotland...)

I had commented yesterday, we have an unusual problem of having too many left sided players! A right footed ZFA or a more attack minded RB would help our shape a bit. In fact, Tom Hateley would fit quite well in the team still I think... In my mind Ramsden is a centre half, Hateley had his weaknesses, but he did well getting forward from RB. Without the pace of Ojamma and Humphrey we seem to have resorted to route one football, pumping balls to an isolated John Sutton, who nobody has the pace to get near before the attack breaks down. Sure we'll figure it out, maybe just 1 player away from a really good side? Our strength last season was the different ways we could attack teams, pure pace if Humphrey and Ojamma, or the skill of Law and Mcfadden.

Depends. Some teams go in at this stage, but a lot of the teams are coming from the previous round (that hibs and stjohnstone played 1st leg tonight), so won't be known until next Thursday night. 29 seeds, we can draw 28 of them (all but stj/rosenborg). I think the pant wetting is due to the continual will he, won't he that we have had every transfer window for 2 years! The best comparison is that we (the Motherwell support) are Simon or Will from the inbetweeners, and McFadden is Carly or the filthy looking girl, that only occasionally show an interest in them, while they make it their life's work to pursue them!! He only texts us when the bars closed and the DJs packing up.

Used to get the train to morecambe a lot as kids. Motherwell to Lancaster, then changed for the local train to morecambe. Always remember the train from Lancaster to morecambe was always out the side of the station and the only other stop was called "bare lane" which I thought was funny. I would hate to be an attacker having to get by Hutchison and McManus! Both intimidating, big, strong, hardy guys that take no prisoners!

Just to agree with ML1 to an extent regarding McManus. On paper (or YouTube) Omar Daley was one of the best/most exciting signings Stuart McCall has made! Yet he is the only real flop.

I think he's a hard working, good in the air, would run through a brick wall.... He has his weaknesses, to be fair to him though, at Celtic Gary Caldwell probably didn't help. He might not be a world class centre half, but a guy who is only 30/31, has bags of champions league and international experience, has captained Scotland and a very successful Celtic team at the highest level, is more than good enough for Motherwell! I'm not saying we need him, and I don't know how fit he is, or what he'd cost, but its hard to argue with a CV like his!!

Did McManus not captain Scotland, as well as Celtic? Comparing that to Brian Kerr with 3 caps in friendlies...

Apparently there was a story in the Greenock telegraph with quotes from Dougie Imrie. Not signing for Morton at the moment, as he has an agreement in place with Motherwell IF we don't get faddy. Otherwise he will take Morton offer.

Would it not just be a case of making him the best offer we can afford? Last season was different as the budget/squad was filled before the opportunity arose. I don't know that it would be enough to get him, but I'd have thought an offer of whatever our top earners are currently on, then the balls in his court. He's arguably the one player we could realistically sign that may put some extra bums on seats come August.

The Uruguay top appears to be fairly unique. I'd have quite liked that collar on one of our strips.

I reckon half the folk who are saying Sutton is shite and can't replace higdon were saying the opposite 2 years ago! No reason why given the opportunity he can't get back where he was 2 years ago when he left us! I hope he does!

Was he fast? I'd describe him as a right footed davie cooper. ( not as good, but his style reminded me of cooper) Sutton is slow, faddy has no pace. Replacing the pace of Humphrey and ojamma with at least one fast player would be good!
