Faddy in France was the only comparison I could think of too.
-
Fair point! Having said that, the reaction in JDs when Hately scored in Odense was unbelievable! Something I've never experienced as a Motherwell fan, watching a game in a mobbed pub and going mental when we scored.
-
It's kind of comparing apples and oranges! A one off disappointing league season to win a cup, preferably the Scottish cup would be more than acceptable. Being as turgid as Stmirren for several seasons for a league cup win.... I don't think I'd take that. Same as I wouldn't leave my wife for 1 night with Kelly brook.
-
Not much more money!
-
Slightly off-topic, but do you get a medal for finishing runner-up in the league? Is surely a better achievement than getting beaten in a cup final. A long way to go yet, just a thought really, usually it's rangers or celtic and they wouldn't bother, but for us (or perhaps even more so ICT, Ross county or stjohnstone) it's quite an achievement.

Cool, never saw that at game. You know what time? Got it taped, so will watch it back, excuse to watch goals again too! )
-
When did that happen? Thought the mcpake kick out at higdon was very similar to Randolph v hearts. He's a dirty B in the Jim Goodwin mould.

I'll still go, whether I buy a season ticket or PATG will be down to personal finances, not league reconstruction. I do wonder reading the knee-jerk "I'll not be back" posts whether folk are looking for a reason to not be back? Perhaps they want a scapegoat or big bad wolf to blame to vindicate the decision not to come back. Or is Scottish football shit, overpriced and fucked up on so many levels that many folk are on the brink of such a decision. Or perhaps the Internet gives folk a platform to spout this "I'll no' be back" line. My dad told me leaving brockville ~1989 with chants of "McLean must go" ringing in our ears "we'll no be back", we were, for another 23 years.

About 85 minutes there was a great shimmy between 2 players in the centre circle by (a knackered) faddy. The view from the main stand on ESPN doesn't do the footwork justice, but you hear the reaction from the crowd!
-
Certainly wasnt headline news anywhere I looked! Maybe Charles green opened his mouth and let his belly rumble that day, or samaras cracked a smile or something equally as newsworthy?
-
As long as he doesn't do a mark McGhee, and hand around without making any attempt to re-sign any players or bring anyone in. Aberdeen looking for a manager at the end of the season.....
-
Doesnt really answer the question of why celtics money was untouched.... I understand it was going to be better for 10/11 teams, so for the greater good, but doesn't answer the real question about doing something better for 11/12 teams.
-
We could call it "the reserves". I think the reserve league was scrapped because of the cost of maintaining a squad of 30 plus plus to run field teams. Went to u-23 with over age players, now U-19s with over age players.
-
Fair play then! Remember a good crowd at one of the early Friday games, but it wasnt on TV, and was cheap entry. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe we need to put the prices up'
-
Not a Motherwell specific problem, but a Friday night game, live on TV, at £23 is hardly likely to persuade the hibs fans to sack off the pub or a few cans in the house and come through to Motherwell. I wouldn't be going if it were at Easter road. Anyway, apart from griffiths, hibs are shite, think we have a full squad other than Humphrey being doubtful? I fancy we can win, 3-1. The 4-0 game was a freak! 3 refereeing decisions at crucial times completely changed the course of the game, 2 were definitely wrong, the 1st penalty was soft too. I don't think anyone in the ground could believe we were 3-0 down!!
-
The fact that rangers and celtic were beaten by 2 teams who were not members of the league 10-15 years ago (give or take for Ross county?) at the weekend, kinda makes the point that despite MORE teams being the last thing we need, perhaps a pyramid system could work.
-
I'm not sure about colt teams? I don't think it's the answer to any of the issues concerning fans though, there could be an argument made that it will give some of the best young Scottish players the chance to play at a lower but competitive level, instead of u-19s and bounce games. Then again, it could be sold to us on that, then used completely differently to suit their own ends. As far as I know, in Spain they are treated as seperate teams in terms of transfers, as opposed to being a reserve side. So you couldn't move players between teams outwith transfer windows.
-
Yes, we won't be due to play them, in previous seasons you would normally get one or other of them or rangers (I know 2? Years ago we didn't) was just an observation, it's a strange set up.

I'm sure there will be a lot of concessions on one thing to get another type negotiations going on. What I'd love to know is what everyone else got for allowing celtic to keep the money?? I get the feeling 12-12-18 is going to be pushed through, probably for the start of next season, regardless of what the fans think. I think the fans are all in agreement about wanting 1 governing body, fairer distribution of money, and more promotion/relegation opportunities through play offs. Most folk are a bit unsure of the current split, but we're told 16 teams is a non starter due to the finances and decrease in fixtures, which I can accept. 14 with a 6/8 split would seem a decent option, or make the other changes and keep the current 12 teams with split, it's not perfect, but with other changes would be good for now, and hopefully improved. The recent story that Neil Doncaster had been awarded a £28k pay rise to £200k per year gives an indicator of how much money we spunk on these clowns at hampden park! Streamlining that part of things would be step 1 for me.

What a weird way of doing things! Especially as teams in the bottom 6 are more likely to have cash flow problems, and won't get any financial boost from a celtic game at home.
-
Of course, I'm just questioning the importance being placed on getting in the top 6 before we can sign folk up. Seems like stalling to me. We could finish 6th. Obviously finishing 2nd has to be the aim, but 6th would still be a possibility.
-
There's 0.5% increase per position, so it's surely not a massive drop from 6th to 7th, 8th or even 9th. So why the big onus on guaranteeing 6th place?
-
Read the football pullout from one of the papers today, was the sun or star? Said "another poor performance from McFadden, who still looks well short of match fitness" which I thought was pretty harsh given what I've seen of him. Stunk of lazy journalism. Did he look off the pace? Also heard the podcast, browns interview was almost comical! :wank:
-
What's the financial significance of top 6? We have played celtic twice at home already, and the place by place prize money benefit of a higher finish has been somewhat diluted. All the teams that bring better travelling supports are in the bottom 6!! Probavly have 2 of Inverness, Ross county and stjohnstone at home post split as it stands....

Perhaps the proposed reconstruction will offer the club a bit more security in terms of guaranteed income, allowing us to tie good players up on 3 year deals, instead of running the risk of losing good players every summer for nothing, we can at least get some money in for them, to be reinvested making the next faddy, murphy, Quinn, Pearson, clarkson or bringing in a law, Randolph, Jennings....
