Pleasant dilemma, in that there's a few to pick from, but I thought Lasley was immense, he covered every blade of grass, won everything that came near him, and bossed the game. Honourable mention to murphy for a good performance, and 2 goals, 2nd was best we've scored in a while I thought. Randolph had a few good saves, but the one in the 2nd half at point blank range was absolutely top drawer.

They could move up to the other end, call themselves "section b"?
-
Clarkson missed a glorious chance to put us 3-1 up right on half time.
-
It could be worse, you could be going to Hull. Kidding aside, all the best.
-
Scott w, last 2 posts kind of sum up what I meant, anybody who would pay would have more often than not have gone on the Saturday. Your casual punter is unlikely to come along to this game even with a free ticket, and even if they did it would only be because it was free.
-
As of 5pm today though a match abandoned voucher has no monetary value. 90% + of the people who will go on a Wednesday night will have been there on the Saturday anyway. Anybody who would take a freebie probably wouldn't have gone otherwise, so nobody really loses out. I've just been told I need to go to Hull that week, so will miss the game. :-(

Agree with most of that! Although the club appear to learn from their mistakes, as I'm sure they will from this one, a lot of them are avoidable in the 1st place. There's not many businesses could treat their customers the way football clubs do, and still have any customers left 20 years later, but things have improved massively, and are still improving at Motherwell. (that's quite a general point, the contempt you are treated with at some away grounds....)

I believe if there's a fire you keep fans in the stadium for half an hour before you tell them and you have time to separate season ticket holders and non season ticket holders, but if it might start to get dark in 3-4 hours, and you have inadequate lighting, you don't have time for any of this?
-
David clarksons miss just before halftime in the Scottish cup semi v rangers still haunts me, and pretty sure it haunted him for nearly 2 seasons.
-
Would you not be a bit pee'd off if you'd come to fir park paid £23, for the game to be called off, to then have to come back on a Wednesday night and watched folk pay in for a fiver?
-
It's a bit of an empty threat to aim at our season ticket holders... But I agree, it adds an extra unnecessary obstacle to folk attending games.
-
It's good that someone in charge at the club has taken the time to read the fans moans, groans and queries and respond. I don't really agree with all of it, but I'm a grumpy bugger!
-
It appears from the statement on the website that the Friday deadline only applies to those seeking a refund (barring exceptional circumstances) however they have requested folk don't turn up on the night to arrange tickets if they dont (but should) have a voucher.
-
You could as a point of principal get your money back even if you have a season.
-
I can understand why they feel the need to do this. Some folk would be looking for a refund with their match abandoned voucher, AND attend the game with season ticket voucher. Those who bring a pal aren't a massive problem, especially if the pal is only coming as its free. But given how obviously unclear the instructions were on the day, the relatively small amount of people who are likely to pull this scam, the work and hassle, not to mention bad feeling it will cause for the club, it's maybe just a hit they should take, in the hope that given how supportive fans have been over the last few months after the appeals in the summer, I can't see many trying to scam them out of 20 quid anyway. If this was the plan all along it should have been made much clearer at the time. It's probably more likely they know they gave out 6000 match abandoned vouchers, when only 5000 were in the ground, only 2000 of which paid in, so have invented this plan as they are A) shitting themselves they get scammed out of £20 a few thousand times B) wrongly assuming that almost all season ticket holders ignored the instruction NOT to take a voucher C) only realised later on that they'd have to offer refunds (whether that be a legal or ethical decision)
-
Without being too blunt, it sounds a stupid idea, and would put off folk who can take it or leave it. A reverse version of this, as I believe some lower league English clubs have tried is more suitable for football. Ie if we sell 2000 season tickets, they are £350, but if we sell 3000, it drops to £300....
-
Maybe it seems worse behind the goals? But the big gaps in all 4 corners of rugby park make it soulless, and freezing cold in winter! The corners at the cooper end aren't too open, it's obviously a bit open at the other end though.
-
Think you can lose a lot of atmosphere with big gaps in the corners, like rugby park for example.
-
The problem is, we can't afford to do anything with fir park. To build a new place would need someone to make a very generous offer for for park, and in an ideal world let us stay there until the new place was ready... Seems a bit pie in the sky, I know. Redeveloping fir park isn't a viable option, as where would the money come from? I don't know if selling for park to finance a new place is realistic either? Anyway, fir park has character, I like it!
-
Unfortunately, in the current financial climate fir park, or the land it's on anyway isn't as valuable as it might have been a few years ago.
-
If you had to build a new stadium, livingston's is probably the best of a bad bunch, corners are filled in, 10k seats. Or a miniature version of huddersdield's. I like the main stand at Falkirk from the outside, but soulless inside.
-
Perhaps the league cup is different? But it's still SFA refs? There does appear to have been less this season, although perhaps there were spells last season where there were too many. Many for trivial things like rude hand gestures or the likes. (higdon) or getting punched (Jennings).

Sorry to resurrect this thread, and memories of this game, but.. Was just watching SSN talk about Robin van persies elbow yesterday, and it reminded me of lee mccullochs elbow on cummins. Just had a look and it didn't make the bbc highlights, but I saw it on the recording of the live coverage and it was a shocker! Looked round 1st. Given some of the "trial by tv" cases I've seen over the last couple of seasons it's amazing that one was let go!!
-
Very true! I wouldn't grudge folk bringing a mate with the voucher, especially if it's someone who wouldn't or couldn't otherwise go, but might come along for free. I'll offer my voucher to a couple of non Motherwell supporting mates. I'd also completely understand any utd fan who can't come or doesn't want to come to rearranged game, and would rather have their £23 back. Unfortunately MFC have to rely on honesty from the rest I suppose.

Honesty I suppose.
