The work done last January was only remedial, until they could relay the whole pitch in the summer. So we must have a new pitch? John Boyle said so! Seriously though, its a good idea, except why should the fans pay for something that was supposed to have been done 6 months ago, seems like penny pinching over the last couple of years has allowed this problem to snowball (excuse the pun). If the problems had been addressed when they first became apparent we may be in a much better situation. Think how much all last seasons postponements cost the club, plus the fine we have hanging over us. I was hoping the money we would have brought in from gate and TV for a cup quarter final against Celtic would have gone a long way to pay for the work, but it wasn't to be unfortunately.

Dykstra was a cult hero though! In my opinion a good goalkeeper shuld come 30 yards off his line and dribble past a centre forward, swing on the bar when asked, and have a dodgy pornstar moustache!

I think over a season or two gates would increase a fair bit if prices were lowered, and it was communicated to the fans through both clubs websites, sites like this, advertising in local press.... I can live with football that isnt the best, but not paying over £20 for it! A small incraese in attendance would also lead to a small incraese in other sources of income, such as food and drink and merchandise. (Although an increase in costs aswell) Id also guess one of the main reasons occasional fans don't come as often is cost, or at least cost v quality? I thought the StMirren game was quite well attended, considering season ticket holders had to pay at the gate, so all the season ticket holders paid in, plus another 3000 odd. If fans of other clubs knew Motherwell were the most reasonably priced away game, and they could bring the family along, I'd imagine they would pencil Motherwell away in their diaries, as a must go game.

We had commented at the game that depite the entire last section standing for most of the game, the police and stewards seemed determined to get 4 or 5 14 year olds to sit down. I thought somebody spat on McCarthy from the front row of the 2nd last section, wouldn't have been able to identify them mind you. Maybe someone will get huckled next week for spitting on the ground, or down the toilet. They do like a scapegoat!

Im with the tims on this one! Although the new pricing initiative was a bit of a farce, made no sense, was far more complicated than it had to be, was of no benefit if you didn't have kids and favoured the old firm over all the other clubs. It was put out as our new pricing initiative, and 3 weeks later swept under the carpet, as if it never happened. If Motherwell next season come up with a sensible pricing policy, making football more affordable to families etc. I wouldn't print it in my paper, and fans of other clubs won't come to Fir Park on a promise of cheaper gate prices, as we might change our mind. I was discussing the cost of football with a friend last night (a StMirren fan) and we both agreed that if away games were cheaper £10-£15 we would go to a lot more. At £20+ then expenses, it's hard (or harder, as the credit crunch hasn't changed the fact foootball has been too expensive for years!) to justify in the current financial climate. I've been to 3 away games so far this season, Hearts (1st game of season), StMirren (cheap entry and last game at Love st), Inverurie (cup and adventure), and will be going Tomorow (Cup, decent price, 1st visit to new stadium). There have been quite a few Saturdays i would have gone, then checked the price and didnt go.

Paul Quinn, defended well, and looked good going forward. Decision making lets him down at times, but not yesterday.

I much prefer to blame the referee for bad performances. Not a big Fitzpatrick fan, but I'd have him in front of Hughes. I don't think Hughes has ever been 100% fit? He is always out, then back in, and either isn't being allowed to recover fully, or is just very injury prone.
-
Don't let him go home!
-
I was hoping to keep mine, as I'd heard before we left that a refund would be given today! But they seemed to be taking them all!
-
I can see both sides. The club were originally refunding tickets, as there was demand for unused tickets (thats how we got ours). They didnt have to do this, normally they maybe wouldn't, and to be fair not many clubs would. The other side of the coin is, that the driving conditions were terrible, and forecast to deteriorate. People would be reluctant to drive in that weather, as it was genuinely not safe! Not to mention the fact that there was always a poissibility the game could be called off later in the day, or you could be stranded somewhere on the way home. The game went ahead (against the odds) at the 5th attempt, some people will have taken a gamble that it would be off, and held on to their tickets, others were misinformed or for the same reasons they couldn't get to inverurie, couldn't get to FP for a refund. I think i due to the series of circumstances, a refund or a gesture (entry on saturday?) would have been the right thing to do.
-
I'm now starting to doubt the sanity of driving to Inverurie! I doubt my work would expect me to travel in this weather, yet I am willing to do it on my day off?? I can't believe they can call the game off 4 times, then on a day when it would be crazy (or LOCO) to drive up, they put it on, meaning all those half days, shift swaps etc have been a waste of time for us all. The game will go ahead, and most of the 'well fans won't make it!

Great book! Really interesting, even without the Motherwell connections! Opens your eyes to some of the stuff that went on in those days! My favourite story was of the Arsenal squad travelling upto Bolton on a Friday night, and all having a right bevvy, as they thought the game would be off due to snow. It went ahead though! They got a 1-1 draw if i remeber right?
-
It doesn't seem to be snowing! Are they doggers?

I cant get wednesday off, so really dissappointed, but I could probably get monday off. Not sure what to do? I wonder if the park is playable now? Maybe a bit hasty with the inspections, due to the stick they got after the last round? They can't win though, as many people would have left by now.
-
Anybody who can't make it, I'm looking for one ticket, possibly 2. PM me please!
-
I will take one if you still have them?

I remember a Tommy Coyne hat trick at Rugby Park in the mid 90s, think it was 4-2, and softy scored the other one. The Ferrere one was a bit special, a sub, on his debut, scoring a hat trick!

Apparently it's a pre contract agreement he has signed, so he leaves in the summer (end of his contract) for nowt. There is a chance they will pay something to get him in January, but we won't get much for him! If he does sign/has signed to go in the summer, I'd probably rather have the money now, and try and bring someone in! I just can't see how a player can be 100% committed, when he has pledged his future to another team. Porter looks lethargic enough when he IS trying, so cant imagine him at 75%

'Flow, Hope this is constructive, You have to fix this! With all the confusion with what the prices are (i have paid £18, £16, £15 then £18 again at the last 4 matches I have paid at the gate for), it would be usefull if this could be cleared up. I was unaware of the mistake with announcing the new pricing structure until i read it on this thread, altough I had kind of put 2+2 together. As the prices seem to be mae up at random. The idea was there, but it was far too complicated and targeting the wrong people in my opinion, so hopefully any new ideas are a bit better thought out. One more thing would be displaying the season ticket number at the turnstiles into the east stand, I'm sure this has been asked before, and the trust supplied a board to display the numbers on i think, but it isn't used! This is such a basic type of communication, and it's not happening! It would speed up the queue, which can get quite long, particularly for midweek games.

double post, sorry

My 'ideal' line up would be... Smith Saunders/Quinn Craigan Reynolds Hammell Hughes Malcolm Lasley Murphy Clarkson Porter Probably the best we can play at the moment. This would depend on Hughes being actualy fit, not nearly fit, but actually injury free and in good health. Left side of midfield is a problem, could have had any one there, went for Murphy, as Smith isn't ever going to make it Im afraid, McGarry has been awful and I've not seen enough of O'Brien. Saunders hasn't put a foot wrong so far, and Quinn is a liability, so I would think about keeping Saunders in?

Im guessing 30th or 31st. Won't be 24th -28th, unlikely to be 29th either (1st day of mail after holidays). That's presuming MFC dont get them before the weekend, in which case they will go on sale on monday or tuesday. Bearing in mind Inverurie are unlikely to have a facility to make tickets, so will have ordered them from a printer of some sorts, then have to get them to MFC, presumably by post/courier at this time of year, thats my guess. 23rd or 30th is best for me! Now all i need is a season ticket!

The more vocal of the 'well fans have congregated in that area of the East stand as long as it has been all-seated. I think anyone who sits there and then complains that people standing up is annoying them needs to think about moving along a bit! 99% of well fans know that generally that area of the ground is noisier, a bit more boisterous, and attracts kids. Don't sit there if you want un unobstructed view from a seated position! I must admit i do get a bit annoyed with constantly having to stand up to let people in and out, in and out, in and out.... sometimes it's bloody ridiculous! If you hadn't been out 4 times already to buy drinks, maybe you wouldn't need the toilet 3 times during the 2nd half!!!

Missed the hibs game, but at £18 (east stand) was £3 dearer than the rangers game, £2 dearer than the one before that (Hamilton I think?). Do they just make it up? Here's the prices here!
