St Johnstone V Motherwell, 19 May 2013 At 12.45Pm
Stu replied to Toxteth O'Grady's topic in Club Chat
No, I didn't see him today. That's not the point. Maybe he was garbage today (by the way, it doesn't sound like he was the only one but I'll play along) but you're telling me 90 minutes is enough to decide a player is not fit to wear the Motherwell shirt?! Behave yourself. For what it's worth, I agree that we need to sign a new 'keeper. If you read my original comment, I pointed out that I found it nonsensical that people decided Hollis was good enough based on one good game against Celtic (and another couple in the last two years). By the same token, it's even more ridiculous to suggest he's not good enough based on 90 minutes of football when, from what I've heard and read, the outfield players in front of him offered little protection due to mentally already being on their holidays. I would have thought people on here would have learnt their lesson after people like Steelboy and Dewell made complete idiots of themselves by instantly deciding that Michael 'Player of the Year and SPL top scorer' Higdon was shit. More than two or three games, that's for sure. Again, I agree that I'd rather see another 'keeper signed to replace Randolph. However, it's ludicrous to decide a player's Motherwell career should be over without at least giving them one decent run in the starting XI to prove themselves. -

I would hope that people wouldn't make a snap judgement on Hollis' ability on the basis of one game today. By the same token, all those who decided he was a more than able replacement for Randolph on the basis of about three games in the last two years will maybe be a little more concerned now. Snap judgements, eh? Isn't it just the Motherwell way... -

Very poor second goal to concede... -

Nicky Law just ran away from the player with the ball instead of getting in his face and preventing him from taking the strike. -
Good point. You should go and support one of them instead.

Best post I've read on here in quite some time.

Or one of the reasons why selling off the rights to the names of stands/stadiums is worthwhile as money can be made and the fans will still refer to the original names anyway?

Rab Douglas?!

Clean sheets aren't a reflection of how good a keeper has been. That would mean discounting 3, 4, 5 top drawer saves in a game just because the other team had scored a goal? The whole team are responsible for conceding goals. From what I've seen (admittedly far less than others) Randolph has rarely been culpable for any of the goals we've conceded. On the other hand, he has made numerous top-drawer saves to keep our goals against column a lot lower than it arguably should have been. Randolph is going to be a ridiculously big loss for us next season. How many points has he single-handedly saved for us this season? I'd wager a lot more than he's given credit for.

Silver linings and all that... -
And he was presented with the MotM award by Higdon when they were both interviewed after the match...

I'm gutted that there's only 3 games of this season left. I wish there were another 30 at least!
-
We deserve a guard of honour for that performance today. The Celtic players should applaud us off the park. Fuck you, Lennon. Your players of the season just got thoroughly outplayed and outclassed.
-
Good. We did the right thing. Now let's humble the c***s with a right good thrashing.

Should Inverness and St Johnstone win their final three games, ICT would finish on 60 points and St Johnstone would finish on 59 points. We're just one victory away from sealing Europa League qualification and 2nd place.

 Because that's SO different. Grow up FFS. P.S. I have actually read what was posted.

Because then we look as bad as them with protesting against someone/something we don't like. To suggest we should only give recognition to teams if we like them or not makes us sound like weans. If Motherwell choose to show recognition to the winners of the SPL then I'll be proud to see my team offer such a public display. I don't give a fuck if the receiving team are Celtic because I don't give a fuck about Celtic full stop. How this has turned into 4 pages of greetin' is beyond me. Actually, having been on these forums for a few years, it doesn't actually surprise me at all...

For me, it's a horrible top. I like to see white shorts and the socks are indeed impressive. All the comments in this thread prove that strip designers have a totally impossible job. Anyway, who cares what I think. As long as it sells a shitload and the team that wear it go on to have a successful season, I really don't care what the design is.

Why are we "due" a black kit? Is it in our history to have often had such a colour associated with us? I've never liked a black kit.

For what my opinion's worth, probably not much, I just wanted to commend Fraser (Bop?) on how he came across on Off The Ball this weekend. I only just had the chance to listen back on the iplayer today. A number of points were communicated very well without histrionics or hyperbole. Well played.
-
Yeah, I fully agree with that.

That's a HUUUGE assumption to make after the serious and lengthy injuries he's had. On the other hand, we know what Hateley can do. I know who I'm hoping to see line up at right-back at the start of next season. If Saunders can come back and provide genuine competition for places across the back line, all the better.
