  1. Sorry, but that just sounds like a hollow promise of a politician in the run up to an election. That's such an easy comment to make, as is "you'll lose £1m in a 16-team league". How the hell, with the standard of Scottish football as it is at the moment, will Sky suddenly say "we'll double your money if you chop two teams out of your league"? Even if the TV money IS larger in a 10-team league, the difference will not be significant enough for teams to reduce ticket prices enough to entice fans back.

It was only a suggestion. And hey, some people might actually prefer to watch a 12-goal thriller than a 1-0 game.

As I said in the very first line of my post that you've quoted, maybe not for long:

Just out of interest, how the SPL would look if using the above scoring system: Celtic..................86 Rangers..............80 Hearts................72 Kilmarnock..........62 ICT.....................57 Motherwell.........48 Dundee Utd........39 St Johnstone......34 Hibs....................37 Aberdeen............36 St Mirren.............33 Hamilton.............22

According to Sky Sports News, Sepp Blatter has asked a task force to investigate whether to scrap 3 points for a win and one for a draw. As Scottish football needs a complete overhaul, not just changing the number of teams in the top division, should we consider a new points system? One option is to have 1 point for a 0-0 draw and 2 points for a score draw. Another option is to have a bonus point for scoring a certain amount of goals. Say a bonus point was awarded for scoring 3 or more goals, a team would get 4 points for a 3-2 win. Or, we could adopt a scoring system similar to the Emirates Cup: 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, and a point for every goal scored. Any other suggestions? The downside to any system that awards 'extra' points for goals is the possibility to manipulate and abuse it. However, the hope is that it would encourage, nay, force teams to come out and attack. Thoughts?
  6. My condolences to you and the rest of your family on your loss at this time.
  7. I'm not so sure that you do... Back on topic, I'm going to trust Boyle on his appointment. The last few choices weren't too bad. If that means someone like Alan Stubbs, so be it. Hopefully he has good contacts and can secure us some hidden gems from England.
  8. That's an old argument that's trotted out all the time. Yes, a few supporters of Inverness Thistle and Inverness Caledonian refused to acknowledge the merger (especially Thistle fans). But what's a "quite a few" in terms of actual numbers? In this scenario not that much actually. Instead, a large number (that's a lot more than "quite a few") of people who lived in the city and especially in the surrounding areas of Inverness adopted ICT as their team because they had their representative in the SFL/SPL. I'm not saying we should merge into Lanarkshire United, by the way. I just always fail to see how ICT can ever be used as an example of the problems with a merger.
  9. Depends on the situation. Undersoil heating is irrelevant in snow like this...
  10. Conditions were genuinely atrocious yesterday afternoon and evening. Ended up parking in a side street and walking the rest of the way home. This morning, from about 6:30 onwards, most of the city was reduced to a standstill. Even Anderson Drive was barely passable. And if you really need any more confirmation that the weather is horrendous in Aberdeen - our Head actually closed the school to all pupils and staff. That may be the first time he's ever done so.
  11. The city was reduced to gridlock. Took me two hours to complete what should have been a 15-minute journey - and that was in the middle of the afternoon. There's not as a much snow as we had during the last spell; however, I'd be amazed if the police didn't step in regarding the surrounding areas. The roads were in a hell of a state.

Yeah, was just away to say, with the bets originating from "the Liverpool area", I'm more concerned with Jennings role in all of this. Not saying he's innocent or guilty though.

Aye, what was that all about?
  14. Three fingers are too much for the referee apparently. What an utterly disgraceful decision from the official.
  15. How does the ref or either of his linesmen not see the Hearts player blocking our attempt to take the free-kick there?! Blackman was quite rightly incensed. Sadly, the ref did call the penalty correctly...
  16. WOOHOO!!! By the way, disgraceful 'defending' from Reynolds...

  18. I don't think the chocolate coins are a good idea at all. What does it really say about ourselves if we're suggesting that someone would leave Motherwell to go to Aberdeen for money? Makes us look like abject paupers. Anyway, the fact that Brown is getting a higher wage with them is surely the least of our concern. What the majority of our support are angry about (and therefore what we want to be highlighting) is the absolute bollocks Brown served us. He's clearly a two-faced liar, who says what people want to hear while thinking something completely different. He's far from the 'gentleman' that he likes to portray. Therefore I'm all for the Two-Face masks, the "common courtesy" banners, etc.
  19. This. Or something along those lines...

I couldn't listen to the whole interview. How anyone, whoever they support, can listen to a word that man says now and believe it is beyond me.

    Craig Brown Statement

Surely saying how much he loves our players and how grateful they are that he's staying, then fucking off within 24 hours is far worse than anything Gannon or McGhee are guilty of, no?
