Game 20: Ross County (A) December 26th 2019
joewarkfanclub replied to livivoice's topic in Club Chat
A very good performance today. Dominated possession of the ball but squandered a lot of chances in the first half and when they scored with their only shot on target, you could have been forgiven for thinking that it was going to be one of those days. Credit to the team in the 2nd half. They remained patient and kept playing their football. No doubt the red card was the turning point and helped us but no one could argue we had not been the better team up until that point. McIvers goal is a thing of beauty. A slow motion moment that will live long in the memory. The scenes at Big Decos winner in injury time were magnificent. All in all, a very decent days work. Left Ayrshire at 0750hrs this morning in the dark. At the time of typing it is 1908 and we are somewhere between Pitlochry and Perth. One of those rare occasions where it was worth every minute! Get those passports looked out folks! -
2019’20 game 19: Kilmarnock (A) Sat. Dec 21st 3pm

Not really sure what to make of your response. The first part pretty much paraphrases the point I was making. The second point is not actually what I said. Clearly, the fact that Seedord IS in fact a footballer, would indicate that he has the desire to be one. The point was regarding his body language and it still stands. -

Seedorf is a hugely frustrating figure. He is clearly lightning fast and not without some ability. However..... His game intelligence is really poor and his body language at times would have you question whether he actually has any real desire to be a footballer. He seems to lack heart and his tracking back is at times non existent. Im hoping that Robbo and the backroom team can coach some of this into him. He is still young enough to learn. However, I had hoped to see more improvement by now. There is definitely a player in there. Whether we will see him or not remains to be seen. -

40 points this side of New Year would be a phenomenal return. If we replicate our form in the 2nd half of the season we will comfortably beat our highest points total that we acheived under McCall. On our current budget that is outstanding. -

He was one of the ones missing on Saturday. I concur it would be nice if he doesnt play. Always seems to play well against us. However, Lee Erwin is his replacement so we can start the former player trope instead! -
Gillespie made some really good saves 2nd half but had virtually nothing todo first half. Thought Polworth did really well when he come on. Seemed to have a bit of a point to prove after being benched. The defence were pretty solid overall with both Hartley and Gallagher having fine games. MoM for me was Carroll. Really making the left back spot his own and capped it with a fine strike (albeit shite goalkeeping).

Excellent summary.
-
Thought Long put in a tireless shift and did well with the scraps he was fed.
-
Thats true. But they also wont sit in as much as the other teams so we should get more space to play in when we get the ball. It will be fine margins. If we can cut out stupid mistakes at the back and make good decisions going forward, we definitely have a chance. We proved that at Ibrox.

Thats a fair point..... -
Very solid performance after a slow start. Defensively we were very good and limited St Mirren to very few chances over 90 minutes. No doubt James Scott turned the game in our favour and the whole team grew in confidence because of that. We managed the game very well in the 2nd half and should have scored more.
-
Lots of really good performances tonight. The whole back four were good but Mugabi was a stand out again. Polworth and Donnelly both had very good games and Hylton did well. Hard not to give it to Scott though. Looked dangerous every time he had the ball and 2 great goals.

The club record fee is still the £1.75m paid for Phil O'Donnell. Only that at the fee for Faddy come anywhere close. -
Not sure how we can have lost money when we cant borrow from anyone and we have just paid off all our debt. I would have thought it was almost impossible given our structure. It may be a notional loss comparing money in to money out. Be interested to here from anyone with more knowledge or insight.

No real stand outs for me, certainly not for 90 mins. Hartley was pretty solid and always a danger at set pieces. Cole was very good second half. I went for Carroll, he looks like the left back we have been missing and got his first goal for the club. Decent days work.

I noticed that comment and drew the same conclusion that he was referring to Sloth.....

Gets his team to a Champions League Final, then gets sacked before xmas? Aye sounds familiar!

Delighted for the big fella getting his first cap. Thought he did well enough, certainly the better of the 2 centre backs. For me McKenna caused their goal. Terrible first touch and foul to concede the free kick. Not sure what more Gallagher can do with the header. Did well to get something on it. He will be better for the experience.

My favourite Motherwell player right now by a mile! #oneofourown

We need to do what we did in the first 35 mins at Fir Park for 90 mins, and it still might not be enough, but at least it will give those brave souls making the journey something to get behind. If Celtic are not quite on it, you never know......
-
Im sorry too.......

I didnt know that. But the point stands.

Les is a hardnosed businessman. You dont make the money he has made without ruffling a few feathers. Quite often that doesnt make you very likeable. TBF though, I dont need to like Les to be thankful for what he did for our club. He may have made mistakes, but he was the right man (maybe the only man) at the right time. So thank you Les.

I see Bayern Munich are also in the market for a new manager. We just cant seem to catch a break this week!
