Not a failure in the team today. Everyone played their part. Notable mentions for McHugh, Cadden, Frear, Bowman and Moult. I went for Skippy. Worked tirelessly running both ways. Composure when sitting deep to pass the ball out of defence. Got forward to support a lot of our attacking plays and was happy to have the ball in tight positions freeing up space for others. Sure he was a bit greedy in front of goal when better decisions might have paid off but he's a striker and cant fault him for having a go.

Scottish Premiership Rangers V Motherwell Sat 1 Apr 15:00

Really good performance. We are looking much better defensively, although Id still like to see us stop more cross balls coming in. However, we are dealing with them much better when they do. Thought we were the better team in the first half and deserved to be ahead. Brave but correct decision from Steven McLean to book Waghorn for diving. Manys a ref would have given it. Rangers changed it at half time to match us up and it seemed to take us a wee while to work that out but we did. Was a fairly end to end last half our but thought we had the better chances. Gutted not to have brought back the 3 points, but like others have said, that level of performance until the end of the season will see us safe. -
You could argue that Oxford had to invest £500k to get their £1m plus while our initial outlay was around £80k (iirc) and we have returned £500k plus a potential windfall of £200 - 300k if that turns out to be true. I still think it was decent business by the club as it is highly unlikely the clubs looking at him now would have been queuing up to offer us that kind of dough regardless of how well he was doing or how unfair that sounds.

Not sure we had any alternative to fan ownership. John Boyle tried to punt the club for years before taking this route. There were no serious takers or those that came forward were so dubious in character he didnt view them as viable options. The Well Society is the only game in town. We need it to be a success. If that means a downscaled Motherwell operating in the First Division then I'd take that over no Motherwell at all. However, we are entitled to aim higher than that.
-
The recent run of success also occurred at the same time as Rangers, Hearts, Hibs and Dundee United all struggling. Next season at least 3 of those 4 will all be back in the top league and those 3 will all have bigger budgets to play with than us. Add in Celtic and Aberdeen, then you could argue a realistically good season is 6th. Below that we are in a relegation scrap.

Cant say Im overly excited about the appointment but none of the candidates we know about would have carried unanimous support. Hopefully he can get some quick results and the support will rally round him.
-
This is painful. Cant wait for it to be over.....

Simo was a better than average player for us. He would stroll into the current team. That of course is no guide to what kind of manager he would be. I agree he would be a risky appointment but if he is the best candidate then he should get the job. Robinson has no track record in management at all. The only pro's for him is we know him a bit better.
-
Sorry mate. Wasnt doubting you. Been nightshift so got my days confused!
-
Well COB has come and gone with no announcement. Does that mean the Robinson chat is a load of pish?
-
My mistake. Hard to keep up now that we change managers so regularly! Still been without a club for a year. Not criticising the guy for being out of work but curious as to why no one else has taken a chance on him. I suppose its a moot point. If he was in work he wouldnt be interested in joining us. If indeed he is interested at all this time round.
-
I quite fancied Dougie Freedman last time round as he was an up and coming young coach with championship level experience who appeared to be doing a decent job bringing through young players. My concern this time round is that he hadnt had another gig since then which raises the question why?
-
Probably!

I agree with some of that Andy. However, if we are running the Society now as a pledge scheme with people making monthly contributions then I think its essential the club and Society are 100% transparent with members as to whats happening with our money. Im happy to contribute as long as the club is being run prudently and we are living within our means. However, Im not throwing money into a bottomless pit for the board or our manager to piss against the wall. Our signing policy over the last 2 years has been shambolic. There needs to be some accountability on the part of the club to encourage fans that their money is being used wisely.

Id bite your hand off for Alex Neil. The first name mentioned thats really got me excited. He may well be out of our reach but we should certainly be asking the question! Fits the profile perfectly. Young forward looking manager with a knowledge of the Scottish game and a track record in developing young talent. Get on the phone Flow!

Can we just fast forward to Tuesday?

Cheers Jay. Answers many of the questions raised. Although not sure it totally clears up some of our concerns. Still, any improvement in communication is a huge step forward....

With Moult out Bowman has to start. With all the injuries and an inexperienced team we are likely to be camped in our own half for large periods. At least Bowman and Skippy up front gives us an out ball. And lets face it, we've hardly been averse to hoofball this season. 2 banks of 4. Limit the space for them to play. Get up the park where we can. Limit the damage and hopefully have a few back for the games that matter. Apologies to anyone actually travelling to see this! -
Good to hear Jay. Expect lots of correspondence in the months to come!
-
I'd love it to be Joe Jordan for no other reason than he was one of my childhood heroes! Big name, local boy, plenty of top level coaching experience. My only reservation is that he has never been a number 1 since his spell at Hearts. Is that too long off the managerial merry-go-round?
-
Not claiming it to be representative or even that I agree mate. Just offering an opinion. I dont have any inside knowledge so I could be totally wrong but if there had been a Well Society board meeting in advance of the club board meeting I dont suspect they would be having another one tonight?
-
I would presume that they will have consulted the Society's representative on the clubs board rather than the whole Society Board. Hasnt really been time for anything else given how quickly they moved.
-
Cheers Jay, You are probably right about tonight. I would imagine there will only be one topic of discussion! I really hope you dont turn out to be the lone voice for change, however, if you do, then you just need to keep us informed. Its our society and our club. If members wont represent us then we can always vote for ones that will! Looking forward to seeing how this plays out. #oneofus4allofus

I had assumed when we signed Jules on loan then he was going to be a step up in class from our own young players. I know its early days and he may get better, but if we are taking a risk on a young player Id rather we developed one of our own rather than another clubs given that only one of those options is likely to make us any money. If Tait is fit, play McMillan at left back. He hasnt let us down there.
