  1. Good first 60 mins. Should have been out of sight by then. Thought we lost our shape at the substitutions and let Hearts back into it. Still, the application, confidence and spirit are all still there in abundance. Long may it continue.
  2. Forgot how well served we have been at right back over the years. Burley Nijholt Krivocapic Corrigan all decent shouts. I was quite young at the time but I remember thinking Stuart McLaren was a decent right back as well. Maybe older posters can confirm or refute that.....
  3. Listening to Tam on Stuart on the radio the now. Alison Walker picking her best Hamilton 11. I know we have had greatest ever Motherwell teams but that always throws up arguments about great players from our past most of us never had the privelege to see. So, off the back of todays articles about The Grew and Faddy, what is the best Well 11 of players you have seen in the flesh. Take 1960 as the earliest date to make it fair! Sieb Dijkstra Luc Nijholt Brian Martin Chris McCart Joe Wark Phil ODonnell Bobby Russell Paul Lambert Davy Cooper Bobby Graham Wullie Pettigrew Subs Randolph Corrigan ONeill McFadden Coyne
  4. Great interview. Puts to bed some of the nonsense being peddled a few weeks ago. Hopefully it will make people think a bit more before decreeing a career is over or anyone is rubbish/waste of a wage. There are often underlying reasons fans are not aware of. Here's hoping he can produce the same form we saw at the tale end of last season. Quite a weekend for Motherwell in the Media.....
  5. Great article. One of my two all time favourite Motherwell players. Funny that despite winning 2 League Cups at Utd he is still considered "Motherwells Willie Pettigrew" Had a wee chuckle at his descriptions of McVie and Stevens! They used to scare the sh#t out of me and I was just a wee boy standing looking on!
  6. Never met the guy so I have no idea what he is like as a person but from the posters on here that have, they seemed to all think he was a decent guy. Never bad mouthed the club and despite the abuse he has had from some quarters, never bad mouthed the fans. I wish him all the best in Poland.
  7. The way I read it was that if they give him a free they would be duty bound to pay up his contract in full and would want us to cover that cost. If Henri was a mercenary he would probably sit tight as he is entitled to the money. Obviously we cant afford the fee so it really depends how badly Stavanger want him off the wage bill and how much Henri is willing to give up to get regular first team football. I presume there must be some room for manoevre otherwise the deal would be dead already. Be nice to get him on a 2.5 year deal with a view to punting him on for a fee in 18 months if things go well.
  8. So to recap.... Viking Stavanger dont want a fee for Anier. They just want us to take him off their hands on a permanent basis. So its just down to agreeing personal terms with Henri and it appears he is willing to take a wage cut? I would imagine if we offer him a large slice of any future transfer fee we could get this deal done.
  9. It sounds as if Viking are desperate to get him off the wage bill if they are even contemplating letting him go for free. However, Henri would be crazy to rip up his contract and take a drop in wages unless we can offer him some long term security. He is clearly enjoying himself if he is considering this. Maybe Henriks success at getting a decent move has been an influence. If the deal can be done at the right price we should go for it especially if we can offload Hutch for a fee. We are well covered in defence and probably have a defender too many in the squad than is necessary.
  10. Ah ok. Short term memory is not the best anymore!
  11. Disappointed the game is off but if it was at all questionable and there is more rain forecast it is the correct decision. Particularly for the Caley fans, although Im sure most would have already set off by 8am. The bonus is our pitch doesnt get wrecked for the rest of the season, although Im sure that doesnt come into the referees decision
  12. Exactly this. You just need to look at how our fans turned on Nicky Law over his decision (a bad career move IMO but his choice) to see that. Tom Hateley did well for us. He chose to move on. Ramsden has proved an ample replacement. Nothing more to say.
  13. Maybe Neilsen wasnt being risked to give his injury more time to heal fully. We had already done the deal for Dan so seems sensible to leave him on the bench as cover rather than risk him and have to extend a loan. I would have no problem if the club extended the loan period as he has impressed. However, given how tight money is likely to be after our cup exit, Im not convinced it is necessary.
  14. Its always the risk for a club like ours where money is tight and you cant afford a bad signing. The sensible thing to do is to extend the loan and if it goes well sign him at the end of the season. However, if he keeps this form up it puts his agent in a stronger position to argue terms, or worse, punt him on to a team who can afford to pay more than us. Just need to trust the manager to make the right call. That might make it an uncomfortable few months for some.
  15. Neither Gunnar or Hollis has had the advantage of playing behind a fully functioning unit. You could argue that the unit didnt function due to lack of confidence in the keepers behind them however I really dont think that is the case. No idea what the score will be but it would be nice to get another good performance and break another record (straight wins).
  16. Wasnt at the game so not voting but good to hear such positive comments about Vigurs. I had very high hopes for him at the beginning of the season and felt he could provide the creativity Law had given us previously. Maybe now the team are starting to gel and some of the injuries players were carrying are easing we will start to see the best of him AND the team.
  17. Look at the difference between prize money for 2nd and 6th and tell me the season is over. Sure we lost money in Europe this year due to where we had to travel to. I would guess St Johnstone made a profit. Luck of the draw, but European football raises the clubs profile which is also vital for attracting sponsors. Given our poor cup runs every penny is vital to maintaining the incredible success our club has enjoyed in recent years. I agree the home crowds are disappointing but if the team continue to play as they have in the last 3 games Im sure that will pick up again. The fact that we had 1595 at Firhill shows that there is not a total apathy towards the team. 1. £2,405,000 2. £1,718,000 3. £1,460,000 4. £1,289,000 5. £1,203,000 6. £1,117,000
  18. Magic! Great to hear about future Steelmen (and lassies) starting out on their journey. Hopefully that positive experience will mean he is hooked for life and keep him safe from the evils of the dark side! SIWY.......
  19. Dont change a winning team. The standard has been set. Anyone not reaching it from now on will be concerned about their place. Should drive performance levels up.
  20. Lol! The guy shaving was a classic! The teeth are still missing and whats worse is the dentist cant fix them until the holidays are over. Not like I could have felt any worse. #findtheteeth
  21. Lol! Went to grab my mate in a big bear hug and my other mate came into do the same and copped it right in the coupon! Good job he wasnt in Paris the night Faddy scored! #findtheteeth
