  1. Bit of a stop start performance IMO. Still not playing any really fluent football but managed to grind out another victory which can only bode well for the rest of the season. Ramsden played well and although he didnt deserve his first yellow the second is silly and gave the ref no option. He also got away with a naughty one in the first half so cant really complain. Faddy again tried hard but is struggling out wide. Signs that he and Anier are developing an understanding however. Both Anier and Sutton took their goals well. Once we get the balance of the team right there is potential for vast improvement. Surprised at how much football Killie played. Few boys at work saying Johnston and Clark going route one but no evidence of that today. Boyd still looks a handful andcwill no doubt score goals. I dont see their plight being as serious as their fans think it might. Not on that showing anyway.
  2. Faddy is the most creative player AND best finisher at the club. The closer we can get him to the penalty box the more chances we will create and more goals we will score. If Lionel can play on the right and let Faddy move inside great. If he can also get the opposition right back thinking twice about pressing on even better. Also gives us a second out ball if we are under pressure instead of punts to Sutton all the time. Could work out to be a good signing.....if he is any good!
  3. Brilliant! You cant beat the utter randomness of sport sometimes! Bienevenida los hombres de acero Espanolas!
  4. The amber shorts are a massive improvement with the new shirt. Even if they are last seasons.
  5. Lol! Makes our result over there look even better...... There are a few in the East Stand would question your assessment of big Sutton however.....
  6. Carswell. The measure of how well he played was how poor we became after he went off.
  7. Might even make Soccer AM's showboating segment next week! Quite the confident young professional!
  8. Thought the first half was encouraging. Carsewell bossed the midfield and we were well in control of the game until he had to go off. No surprise Thistle came onto a game when he went off. Hope his injury isnt serious. Thought ZFA did well first half and had a great assist for the goal. Disappeared second half and cant complain about being subbed. Anier was great. He should start every game. Our most dangerous player. Should never have been subbed. Faddy is trying way too hard and trying to do it all on his own. Needs to relax and just play football. Playing in a more central role would help. Thought the defence looked much more solid. With Ramsden Hutch and Mick looking so dominant in the air Im not sure why folks think Hollis needs to be coming for cross balls. Thistle were tidy enough and looked dangerous towards the end but I think a lot of that was our own doing and Im not sure I would swap any of our players for theirs. Hope they do well and stay up as Firhill is a good away day and they are a welcome refreshment to the more familiar opponents.
  9. Cheers mate. Give us a shout when you get back. Hopefully the gaffer will have us sorted out by the time you return!
  10. The tactics from their manager need to be questioned.
  11. Anybody heading up tomorrow interested in sharing transport?
  12. Given that we have no real pace or natural width, whats folks opinions on playing a narrow 4-2-3-1? Vigurs Anier and McFadden are all clever footballers. Surely they can find the spaces required to play thru teams instead of around and behind? Would this get them closer to Sutton to give him the support he is crying out for? Thoughts?
  13. Thoroughly looking forward to this game for no other reason than its someone different to play. Impossible to say how the game will go. Can only hope some serious work on the training ground this week pays off
  14. Heading up to Fir Park for the game tomorrow. Taking the car if anyone is interested sharing transport. 3pm kick off so leaving Irvine about 1.30pm.
  15. Cmon big chap. I never said we shouldnt try to play our normal game. I was trying to say that its not always possible because good teams dont let you.
  16. When will folk on here start to realise that our players cant play their normal game in europe because they are up against superior opposition who are quicker, stronger and pressure the ball. Thats what forces the mistakes we continue to make. Tactics can play there part, and we could have gone for it tonight at 1-0 but that would have left more space at the back which they proved last week they have the ability to exploit. We did ok tonight. The og and the penalty miss are hard to take, but its great experience for the players. We wont play another team as good as that this season. People need to be realistic about our level. I still think we will have a good season and I would love a tilt at the Scottish Cup. We have a good manager and some good players. Lets try and enjoy them.
  17. Mmm......what about Scotland v England Euro play off 1999? I totally went to Wembley thinking we could get a real pumping, but we got the first goal and they sh@t it. Didnt get thru, but we came the width of David Seamans elbow away from extra time. So, despite being a traitorous auld sod, he may have a point. Its a long shot, but we shouldnt be giving up on this tie just yet. Crazy things occasionally happen in football. Anyway, this thread is about McCall joining THEM. Not gonna happen while Chuckies lot are in charge and if Sir Cardigan rides to the rescue he has already stated he wants McCoist to get a chance to manage the club under "normal circumstances". Nothing to see here.
  18. Chuckie wants Warnock......
  19. All the best to everyone travelling. Seems the organisation over there is somewhat haphazzard but if everyone gets in free it all adds to the experience. So jealous of those travelling. It will be magic regardless of the score. PS. We should play our strongest team for no other reason than out of respect for the effort of those travelling. Only problem is we dont know what our strongest team is!
  20. Todays game needs to be taken in the context of the fact we had a big game on Thursday and a long journey to/from Russia coming up. We have to rotate players best we can due to the small squad. Factor in the way Hibs set up and that our players are still getting to know each other, then Im delighted with the 3 points. Once Europe is out of the way and the manager settles on a formation that suits the players, we will do just fine.
  21. Hibs sitting in. Hoping for a 0-0 or sneak one on break. Not surprising given their last result. Need to be patient. Our quality should show in the final third.....eventually.
  22. He got plenty around me at the Newcastle game well before his howler and there were still dissenting voices on Thursday night although it was mostly drowned out by the POSITIVE support emanating from the Bois. PS I agree. If he can do a Higdon the boo boys will soon shut up.
  23. Well said. But given we had this argument about Hately and Higdon last season and Mark Fitzpatrick before them its clear that the issue will never go away. Some folks just need a scapegoat. Hollis is this years target. Id personally rather have Gunnar in but Hollis will have my support for as long as he has the jersey.
  24. Somebody told me coming out of Fir Park on Thursday night that Nielsen wasnt playing because he had dodgy knees. Guy said he knew someone at the club. No idea if true but would be a concern if we have given a contract to someone who is going to be injury prone. All speculation of course as the source may not be reliable.
