I would agree. Mcghees first season aside, where we played some really nice football, this is definitely the most enjoyable period since we got second under McLeish. It would be foolish not to be a little concerned. Sheffield Utd are a big club. He has previous links with them and they will obviously be aware of how well McCall has done given they signed Murphy. Just need to hope their chairman is a little mental and gives Warnock another chance. If he does go I think its a fair chance that Randolph and Law might follow him...... Fingers crossed it doesnt happen and they all end up staying!

Excellent coverage on Off the Ball. Well done to Tam Cowan for supporting the issue and also to Fraser who came across well and dispelled any thoughts that the Bois are just a bunch of neds with an attitude problem. Round 1 to the fans.

Absolutely 100% with you. Told a couple of non Wellfans at work what was going on. They werent surprised. Just shook their heads and said this is one of the reasons Scottish Football is in the state it is. This needs to be highlighted as much as possible to embarass United to ensure NO club ever acts this way again.

"CANT RUN, CANT JUMP, ALL HE DOES IS SCORE GOALS" I'd buy one!

Now officially post war record goalscorer. Take a bow big chap. You are now officially a Motherwell Legend!
-
Henrik. Great workrate great goal. Needs to keep his head shaved. Clearly made all the difference.
-
Excellent performance and 3 points. Had to work really hard foe it second half but we stood firm and got what we deserved. This team continues to grow. Its a pleasure to be a Well dan right now!
-
Great first half performance away from home. A little bit open which has exposed us a few times at back but thoroughly entertaining. Same again second have (as long as the goals come our way) will do fine!

Im sure Sydney will bring Mr Cosgroves attention to the matter on Saturday lunchtime!

Best of luck boys. Hope you get a good turn out and some media coverage to make your point.

Congratulations to Lawsey. Well deserved. Great month during an outstanding season in Claret and Amber. Player of the year nomination?

I think it depends the way you look at it and what sort of play off you are talking about. One up one down in a 12 team league is a bit of a closed shop. If you were saying 2nd bottom SPL plays 2nd top SFL1 I think thats fair enough. Personally I think 16 team league with bottom automatic relegation/top SFL1 automatic promotion and 2nd/3rd bottom going into play offs with 2nd and 3rd in SFL1 would work. Not a fan of the english set up where 6th can get promoted instead of 3rd regardless of the points difference. Doesnt seem sporting. Same really with 8x8x8 which theoretically could see no promotion / relegation ever. I know it is maybe unlikely but makes it possible. Thats not sport. -

So in summary...... Doncaster has secured an enhanced tv deal and sponsorship for 8x8x8 only. The cashstrapped clubs cannot afford to remain with the status quo despite any reservations they may have. Having managed to despatch Rangers to appease his fans Lawell is now getting twitchy at the falling attendances at Parkheid and is trying to expediate their return whilst making it look like those pesky SFL clubs. The voting structure will remain unchanged awaiting this eventuality and is inexplicably supported by Aberdeen (aka Stewart Milne). Meanwhile Sky are sitting back lapping it up and the game we all love will continue to self destruct? -

I agree with just about everything you say here. When I made reference to chasing the money, I was talking more about the SPL than MFC who I accept can only make decisions in respect of the options open to them. The fact that this is a take it or leave it scenario is what angers me. There is still an agenda here and it is being dressed up a certain way to placate the fans who flexed their muscles last summer. Football is on its arse because for too long those running the game have ignored their customers. This is just another example. What business can continue to do that and survive? -

Thanks for that Netherton. So it appears yet again we are following the money instead of doing what is best for the game and allowing the money to follow. I respect the clubs decision as they have to balance the books and do what they feel is best for the club, I just disagree that this proposal is the answer. -
Higgy has scored more goals against the same teams than the £9m rated England prospect Gary Hooper who can run, jump and has not looked out of place in the Champions League. We all know Higdon is no Wullie P. Lets just enjoy his goals and hope he signs on again for another couple of seasons.

If its okay for 4 SPL teams to play 4 SFL1 teams in competitive matches for part of the season then why not just invite them into a 16 team SPL and forget this stupid 8x8x8? We are told they are not strong enough so wont be competitive enough to come into the SPL. So what is the truth? We are being lied to here in order that the powerbrokers get what they want. I suspect that this is Rangers back in a 12 team SPL within 3 years with no change in voting structure. -

I would say everyone is agreed on 1. One league body. 2. Financial redistribution. 3. Change to voting structure (Celtic/Aberdeen excepted maybe) These can be agreed quickly for next season without too much pain. League reconstruction and a pyramid system can be given more time to agree on something everyone, including the fans, can support. -

I dont care where Motherwell finish in an 8x8x8 set up. My objection to it is that it is a ludicrous system that will do nothing to advance the prospects of Scottish football. Maybe St Mirren are being selfish in that respect but at least they are in line with the views of the paying customer. My understanding is that Motherwell are broadly in line with those views but are buying into this all or nothing nonsense. Why cant we have the bits everyone likes and jettison this nonsense? No-one wants to answer that question. -
Not my personal opinion Stu but you know fine well how it goes. It will be viewed as a betrayal in some quarters.
-
Option 3 is the one that really concerns me. Im kinda hoping that Neil Lennon doesnt see him as the kind of player that would fit into his system, or that Faddy might still be pissed off at them for asking him to go for a trial last time round. Wouldnt want to see his status as a Well Legend tarnished by going there. Just say no James!

Ironically it is this current voting structure that looks like scuppering 8x8x8! -
If Law leaves probably. Only ever seen him play against us and he has always impressed. However, if he is that good all the time why did Killie let him leave?

Well done St Mirren. A well thought out response that echos the thoughts of many fans. Here's hoping that after the meeting on Thursday our club will be in a position to be equally principled. This should never have been a take it or leave it proposal. That just smacks of the bullyboy tactics employed to try and shoehorn Rangers back into the SPL last year. Didnt work then and shouldnt work now. Give us the one body. Give us the financial re-structuring. Give us the change in voting system. The league re-structuring talks can continue through the summer so by the start of next season everyone knows what they are paying and playing for. Or is that too sensible?
