Lets all do the Higdon Lets all do the Higdon na na na na! na na na na!
-
Absolutely First Class tonight boys. Take a bow!
-
That was TORTURE! The clock ticked slower than after Faddys goal in Paris! Mon the Rainjurs!
-
Cant believe we are one up. That first half was torture! We are making Stoke look pretty at the minute! Same again second half will do nicely!

I was responding to the previous post about the serious money involved if we were to somehow get thru the 3rd qualifying round with the prospect of another big tie and the chance to parachute straight into the group stages of the Europa League. Im not suggesting we should be spending vast somes of cash on the squad, but if we got the chance to retain the players we have, and box clever to strengthen one or two key areas at a time when many of the other teams are having to cut back then we could consolidate our position significantly. With no debt and the Well Society up and running, it could be a very good time to be a Well fan.
-
No coincidence Higdon had a good game yesterday when we play 2 up front. Hearts are a big physical team so its a no brainer for him to retain his place. Same team as yesterday and give it a real go as yesterdays results means its effectively a 'freebie' and the prize within our grasp! What a difference a week makes.....

This is financially massive for us. Even moreso given Rangers current difficulties. This could give us the chance to get the march on all the other SPL sides for a consistent tilt at European fitba over the next few years. Especially given the precarious position of other financially stricken clubs.

Agree with this. Maybe the change of formation. Maybe having ALL our best players available. Maybe a bit of both. Regardless, its great to see that when the hard question was asked, the boys responded in such an emphatic manner! More of the same on Tuesday please!

Welcome back boys! We have missed you!
-
Bang Bang! Welcome back Henrik! Humphrey MoM by any chance?
-
Aw FFS! 3-1 Craig (pen). Shouldve known we wouldnt get to enjoy this!
-
3-0 Murphy ya dancer! Surely thats it now! Real chance to impact on Dundee Uniteds superior goal difference now. Mon the Well!
-
After a slow start it sounds like we are playing better than we have in quite a few weeks. Anyone at the game confirm this?
-
Mon the Humph!
-
2-0 Motherwell (Law) another assist from Humphrey! Lets do this!
-
1-0 Motherwell (Higdon pen). Humphrey brought down in box, Steve Cowan thinks it was never a pen.
-
Any thoughts on tonights lottery numbers mate? Dundee United starting to feel some pressure? 2-2 draw is a great result! Only if we can win though!
-
Great result from Tannadice. A win today was always going to be huge but we could put ourself in a great position now! Time for the Steelmen to show some mettle! C'mon ye 'Well!

I support your call to arms given what is at stake and we have had a good season with a great run of results, however, I cant agree with the last bit. We were good to watch in the first quarter of the season and for a few games after Henrik signed up, but on the whole, since Christmas at least, we have not been pretty on the eye. Effective? Mostly. Good to watch? Hardly. We played far more attractive football under McGhee until our pitch scuppered that and the European ties under Gannon and Brown were good to watch too. Maybe the common denominator is summer football! Regardless, this is all about the end result and never in our history have we had the chance to play in the Champions League. So, get your asses of the couch, out the bookies, out the pub, off the golf course or wherever you planned being this weekend and lets help the team over the line.

Some people maybe Al but I think most are just upset about the manner in which we lost today against Celtic Reserves. Our performances in the last 3/4 weeks have been poor. If we had lost today playing really well having had a real go then I think the tone would be a lot different and we could have confidence going into next week. Both the players and the fans need to regroup and hold our nerve.

Steve Jennings by a country mile.

McCall is a decent manager and about as good as we can expect to attract given the finances at our disposal and the size of our club. No way should we be thinking about parting company. He hasnt been helped recently with injuries and suspensions which have upset consistency of selection. All that said, 4-5-1 wasnt working over the winter and its not working now. He has to find a way of rejuvinating the players and our level of performance otherwise we can kiss 3rd place goodbye. Mon the ginger army!
-
If we had played like we have in the last 3/4 weeks all season, we WOULD be fighting relegation. Dont mistake the above for a kneejerk reaction. Just the frustration of watching a great season unravelling in front of our eyes. I felt exactly the same during the winter when we were experiencing the same problems. Then it was Henrik that came along and gave us fresh impetus. Right now its gonna have to come from the manager. He needs to get it right and fast. Next week is massive.

Like a lot of others, so annoyed on so many fronts. McCall - we established in January that 4-5-1 doesnt work for us because Higdon isnt mobile enough and nobody else gets close enough to take advantage of his hold up play. Either drop Higdon or play 2 up front. We have also stopped playing football. No fluency to our passing. Leaves us resorting to lumping it long all the time.Pish to watch. Hately - delivery was pish and has been for weeks. What has happened to him? Hammell, Clancy, Hutch - didnt deal with the cross balls coming in from the right all game. A goal was only a matter of time. Daley - so infuriating. Got into some decent positions first half but never had control of ball at any time. Humphrey - can you teach/instill bravery/confidence/desire? So much potential but so rarely delivers. Carswell/Law - Consistently chose the wrong passing options. Ojamma - not much time to shine but looks a shadow of the player we thought we had! I think a lot of this comes down to the manager/system. We need to get back to keeping the ball and putting the opposition on the back foot and allow the players to build back their confidence. Having so many players off form at the one time is no coincidence. Somehow we ARE still in the driving seat. Lets not throw it away!

Have met both Nevin and John Boyle. One seemed a decent genuine bloke who knew a lot about football. The other seemed totally out of touch with reality..... Would never slate John Boyle for his ambition and love for the club, however his vanity and unrealistic expectations were undoubtedly our downfall. Not saying Nevin is totally blameless either, but we all bought into the dream. Was really bitter about Nevins role at the time, but not now. Think the article is quite illuminating and shows a different path could have been tread.
