The problem with SK is that no one knows if he is gonna be any good at the management gig as he doesnt have a great deal of experience. He is making a lot of the mistakes rookie managers make with us because its only his 2nd gig and the first one didnt last that long on his own. A few folk were touting Ian Murray as a replacement. But he was fired from a few clubs before he got near any kind of success. SK has had 1 window with us under very challenging financial conditions. Lets see how he gets on in January and the rest of the season.

If you are thinking long term, we really need to get our management structure sorted out before we change the manager. Otherwise the change you make now may not be the one the new board/management want. Yesterday has bought us time. But its gonna be a big 6 months for the club. We need a fully functioning board set up with new Chairman, CEO and hopefully more genuine Well Society input. Once we have that we should get better decisions made about manager and player recruitment.

Like many yesterday, when I saw the team selection, I thought SK had lost the plot again and feared the worst. However, we started very quickly for a change and Livingston just couldnt cope with us. The negative aspect is that we could and should have scored 4 or 5, so when Spencer switched off and let Pitman spring our offside trap, it made for a nervy few minutes until we were able to restore the lead. Big Theo has taken plenty pelters on here, so its only fair he should get the plaudits for his performance yesterday. His assist for Spittal showed great awareness and maturity and his finish for his second goal was just top drawer. Now the downside. It was clear very early second half that Livvy made changes and negated what we were doing. So it was very frustrating that SK didnt alter our set up accordingly. I get that he would be nervous about throwing away a 2 goal lead but we needed to control the midfield at that point so putting Slattery on wide right made absolutely no sense. Still, we got the win. The manager has bought himself some time and he will get the window to try and fix the gaps in our squad. We are up to 8th within striking distance of 7th. After a 15 game winless run, that seems truly mental! Happy Clappy New Year Folks!

Thought McGinn had a very good game. If he hadnt got that injury he would be well up there for our player of the year. In fact given whats happened since he has been out, he is probably still in the mix. Want to give a shout out to SOD as well. He has been pretty solid at RCB and I think if he is to keep his place in the team thats probably got to be his best chance. Gent had a very good first half and continues to raise the question as to why it took SK so long to pitch him in. MOTM yesterday though has to be Theo Bair. His second goal was worth the admission fee alone. Like many others I didnt think he had that in him. FEED THE BAIR! FEED THE BAIR! FEED THE BAIR!

I wouldnt renew Souare's deal. Seems harsh. But it was a gamble that didnt come off. No point repeating it. Id bring Wilson back from his loan for cover. Boy didnt look far away in the league cup and has had the first half of seaoson out on loan. We need to develop him. He is also young and less likely to break than the other options.

That may well be. But we have a deal already in place for Gent. If we get Furlong one of them has to sit on the bench. If we are serious about maximising the bang for our buck going forward, there ar other areas of the team requiring more urgent attention right now.

Furlong was great. But we have Gent now, so not sure what he would add. If he cant get a game for Hull though he would be worth pursuing in the summer.

Huge game for us and SK. This is the one where we/he simply just has to get the win. Our run is terrible, but Livvy havent won in 12 and have scored 1 goal in 11 games. Their last win was against us in October and they havent won a game away from home since August and that was against Lee Johnsons Hibs! Ive stuck by SK up until now, albeit with a slight waver after the Ross County game. But if he loses this one there really is no case left for the defence and he would have to go. Team selection, tactics and attitude of the players quite simply has to be spot on. No more room for mistakes individual or otherwise. Dont care how we do it. Just win.

Shit like that just happens. Probably because the supporters of the ex player gives it to them so tight on the day, they are desperate to ram it down their throats. Kallum Higgingbottom is another good example. Doesnt make it right or wrong. Just a thing.

Not sure Ive ever seen or heard Motherwell fans applauding a former player for scoring a goal against us. Ive seen it before the game has started which I think is absolutely fine as it shows respect for what they did whilst with us. Ive also seen it when an opposition player shows an outrageous piece of skill or scores a worldy, I also have no issue with that. Sometimes you just need to doff your cap when you've seen something special (depending on who the opponent is obviously). But this myth that Fir Park is full of "Happy Clappers" who really dont give a shit about the club is a load of absolute bollocks imho.

They will be desperate to get the game on given they didnt play last week. Weather for late afternoon/evening looks far more benign. Would expect the game to go ahead with very few 'Wellfans present! Safe travels to those still going!

I thought SOD had a pretty good game. No howlers that I can recall. Used the ball well for the most part and looked to be organising others in the backline. Most of the midfield struggled in the first half. But looked better in the second. Hard to pick any of them.over 90 minutes.

The only surprise about today is how surprised (and annoyed) some of our fans seem to he about the result. We havent beaten Rangers in the league for 21 years. The chances of it happening off the back of the worst run in SPL history was pretty slim. Another slow and very sloppy start by us. We are never going ro beat anyone if we dont start playing until we are 2 down. Gifting up 2 goals like we did never plays out well. Much better second half performance, but the damage had already been done by then. Onto Aberdeen. Another difficult venue, but one where we have enjoyed some success over the years, against an opponent not without their own troubles to seek. SK has 2 games to save his job and end this horrible run.

I think he is likely to go with the same team again and use McGinn off the bench. We kept our first clean sheet in 14 games last weekend. Do you risk interfering with that if players are starting to build an understanding? Obviously Rangers will be a stiffer test than St Mirren. But I think the point still stands. I like Blaney on the left with Gent. Good to have 2 naturally left sided players there. Same with SOD and Spencer on the right. Ive also noticed at recent games that SOD is the one shouting and organising the managers instructions at everyone. Maybe thats why SK has stuck by him.

Dont disagree with that at all. It feels like we are in a sort of "holding pattern". We need to either get a few wins and put this to bed, or get to the point where enough is enough and SK has to go. This feels like death by 1000 cuts!

Ok, so no credit given. Just diversion away from the fact that SK has in fact signed one player who is quite good.

My response was in reply to a comment that we had been getting steadily worse, week by week. That clearly hasnt been the case since Ross County.

Do loans not count as signings now? Getting Mika in is quite a coup in my opinion. Theres no way we could afford to sign a player of that quality on a permanent deal.

He has had more good games than that. There was a period of 3 or 4 weeks at the start of the bad run when he was our best player.
