Quite like that. Like the hoop socks as well. Sorry Grizzly! ๐งกโค๏ธ๐งก

Paddy Power were brilliant in that regard. Wasnt that fussed on the home one, but the petrol blue "Sampdoria" number is a classic!

I dont think we should be selling him to Bournemouth for that very reason. And certainly not at a cut price. I have it in my head that he is worth at least what we got for Turnbull. He has 2 years left on his deal. Best to keep him developing in our first team and sell him when the right bid comes in. As it will.
-
That may well be. But he has a season option so Id like to wait and see. Hearts certainly didnt think he was up to it with them anymore, but I guess it depends what we see his role as. Obika was always a risk with his injury record. Im hoping some of last seasons signings were down to budget and circumstances. We could do without making some of those mistakes again.

Im gonna try and play the ball here and not the man. Your original point may have some validity. Ive never seen Dylan Easton play, so Ive no idea if he will or wont be able to do a job for us next season. However, as you rightly say, no one saw Bair being a success and he has been by quite a margin. However, its your second paragraph that I have to disagree with and it diminishes any value anyone could place on your first point. Davor may be a limited player but he is a grafter and his defensive qualities bring value to the team. As does Paton who is a tidy footballer and we missed him badly when he was injured even if it was just for the purposes of giving others a rest. These are the kinds of players we need in our squad as they let others like Spittal and Miller play their football. I had hoped Halliday would be the same. A good squad player. And admittedly he hasnt really shown anything so far to justify his billing. However, he has been injured and didnt have a proper pre season behind him so hoping he will be better next year. Point is, none if them are poor or hopeless. So maybe the manager knows more about the quality required in the division than you give him credit for?

I agree that factors other than actual performance can come into things when voting for player of the year, but there is no suggestion Spittal has been a bad egg in the dressing room. In fact, as well as being comfortably our best performer over the piece, he has shown leadership qualities when he was quite frankly dragging us through some games, and seems well liked and respected by the other players and management. I dont get any feeling that he wasnt liked by the fans either up to the point the PCA was disclosed and some threw the toys out the pram. Happy to accept that Slatterys goal (best team move) or Bairs dink (outrageuous and unexpected piece of skill) are worthy contenders fo best goal, but POTY should have been a shoe in (imho). Anyway, Feed the Bair. He still has plenty of room to develop as a player, but his goals and performances have been as welcome as they were unexpected!

Spittal not getting any of the fan awards reflects poorly on our support who are clearly more pissed off about him signing a pre contract with Hearts than thankful for the 2 years sterling service he has given us. He has been our player of the season by a distance and capped off by some incredible goals. His free kick against Alloa didnt even make the shortlist. Good to see he got the Players Player of the year and the Coaches. Speaks volumes.

We have only won 9 games this season. But we have drawn 13 and lost 9 by only 1 goal. That tells me we have been competive in the majority of our games this season. That being the case if we had prevented just a handful of the really poor goals we have lost this season we would be much further up the league. Fine margins. Given that SK hasnt been able to coach these mistakes out of the team, I think its inevitible our defence will be overhauled close season. We need different personnel and/or a different system if we want to improve next season. Whether that possible or not on our budget remains to be seen.

Happy to be the Ying to your Yang! (Of course I would say that! ๐)

I like a bit of critical analysis. Win, lose or draw, there are always things we have done well, and things we could have done better with. Highlighting both sides of a performance should be welcomed.

I think we all need to take a deep breath. It doesnt matter how many games someone does or doesnt go to or how many years they have supported the team. What matters is our support of Motherwell FC. If you give an opinion, be prepared to debate it and back it up. Because sure as shit someone will disagree. Try not to make it personal, or take it personal (hard sometimes I know) we are after all, all on the same side. Some folk are always negative, some folk are always positive. Thats life. Meantime, Feed The Bair.........

I read that as well, and its a fair enough point. Does it extend to message boards? I will certainly try my best to consider that before responding to posts in the future.

I think they know the rules. Its how they are choosing, or being told to interpret them I have an issue with. For me Shinnies hand does come out away from his body and the handball stops us gaining an advantage. However, I dont think he did it deliberately and it was in my opinion entirely natural as he was running. Similar to Bairs at the other end. They either both are, or in a sane world where VAR doesnt exist, neither are. Still doesnt excuse the Ross County decision though. Plenty talk down south from pundits there about binning VAR. Never happening, but clearly not just a problem in our league.

I know what you mean, but we have had a few this season we have let ride. Good to see that our pen claim in the last Aberdeen game was unheld. Not that it helps us much. Personally dont think it was a pen, but they have been given all season.
-
I get what folk are saying about the appeal being a waste of money as we were never going to win it. However, sometimes you just have to make a stand in order to highlight an injustice and support your player. If we just roll over and let these things pass, then we will continue to be ignored and mistreated

Can I get a second chance? I promise to behave! ๐

Our record against Aberdeen at Pittodrie is at least as good as our record against them at Fir Park is bad. No idea if we win this one. But I dont think we lose it. 3-3 again!

Not sure Ive seen anyone telling another poster to shut up in respect of the investment stuff or indeed opinions of players / the manager. The ones who tend to be called out are those who are negative about absolutely everything regardless of context. Ive had some lively debates with your good self and others at times over opinions. But as you yourself said previously, thats what this place is about. I think we can both agree though that we were both wrong about Bair. But he is better than "semi-pro" level! ๐
-
Surely its acceptable to post that although a players record at his previous club is poor, you are happy to see what the manager can do with him and judge him then. Or opine that without the full information regarding investment you dont have a position one way or the other? These are both opinions. Not everything is black and white.

Are facepalms considered booing? Asking for a friend! ๐

The problem for Halliday is that he came with a pedigree so expectations are higher. Im hoping his issues are just lack of football and match fitness and that its not that his legs are just gone. Happy to see how he looks after a proper pre season and a bit more first team football. We should offer Theo an improved deal because he has earned it, but also to show prospective suitors we are serious about keeping him and if they want him they will need to make it worth our while. If we want to push his value up we need to send out the right signals.

Who says it isnt?
-
Feed the Bair. The scouts are watching! A couple more for the highlights reel would be (a few more) grand!
-
We got less than ยฃ1m for last seasons Premiership top scorer on 28 goals. There are lots of variable factors but Theo has scored 13 goals and prior to this season had a total of 8 senior goals. I take my hat off to the big chap for the improvement he has shown this season and it would be great to keep him as I think he can still improve, but anyone that thinks that we wont move him on if money like that comes in, or that he wouldnt want to move up a level isnt being realisitic. Particularly those that would argue that fan ownership isnt working and we need to drop our pants at ยฃ1.5m investment from outside sources.......

I think the documentary side of things has potential as a revenue stream and possibly the streaming of our games more globally, as thats what Barmack knows. But how that fits with tv deals negotiated by the League, SFA, UEFA etc remains to be seen. The player trading also has possibilities, but we would need to be a whole lit better at it than we are now for both Barmack AND Motherwell to make more money out of it. An academy in the States with access to a larger pool of talent with the outlook of moving them onto the Premiership could work, but again Id be concerned about how this would impact local talent getting into the team, as thats pretty much been my favourite thing over the last 10 years. Watching the likes of Cadden, Campbell, Turnbell, Hastie, Johnstone and Miller all coming through has been a joy.
