  1. Defensively we are so much more solid. A lot of that is down to Butcher & Casey, but the change of shape and organisation is all Kettlewells doing. Huge plaudits for that. Gonna be interesting/exciting to see how he rebuilds in the summer and if he is able to add some layers football wise on top of the solid defensive structure
  2. I know we won again, but didnt think any of our forward players had anywhere near their best games. Particularly first half. Thought the much maligned SOD had a decent game. But big Butcher was immense though. Never put a foot wrong. Won literally every challenge. MOTM by a country mile!
  3. Its also important to think about the long game. There is still the potential for expansion to European Leagues which the big 2 will have their eye on. If they have B teams in place it leaves them in a stronger position to bugger off in pursuit of the big money whilst retaining a presence in their national league. I know the fans managed to beat off the European Super League idea last time around, but it would be naive to think that those looking to broker it have gone away. Clearly Rangers and Celtic wouldnt be invited to the top table initially, but theyve always had eyes on opportunities to get out of Scottish football......
  4. Our record against Kilmarnock wasnt much better until last week! 🤩🤩🤩
  5. 100% against this. Totally flies in the face of the sporting integrity of the pyramid system and intereferes with the ability of non league teams to he promoted on merit. It only benefits the big 2 who cant or wont develop players through their own first teams. Hearts and Aberdeen will undoubtedly piggy back onto it. B teams should be in the reserve league, pure and simple.
  6. The club crest didnt exist until the 80s so its hardly traditional. I do like the crest, particularly as it retains the connection to the steel industry, but like the hoop/band, Im not wedded to it as other incarnations existed before it. For example, I think the MFC script worked very well on the last blue kit....
  7. I wouldnt disagree with that. Puttng the ball in the net is the hardest part of football and therefore the most lucrative when it comes to buying and selling assets. If you measure KVVs goals purely on league position this season and the prize money that comes with that, its not unreasonable to suggest his value to the club on that alone could be £500k. Add in what we might need to spend on a replacement and you quite quickly get to somewhere near 7 figures. The club will be aware of that though and they need to balance looking after the club with the happiness of the player. KVV might well have been happy to be patient for another 6 months after the Chinese deal fell through, but if we get an offer he really fancies in the summer and we turn it down again, he may not remain so philosophical about the situation. Given Kettlewells comments today though, I dont think we will be letting him go for buttons.......
  8. Not fussed on the Arsenal top but the stripes might be a nice nod to the past. Dont like the shoe laces though. Similar to the Man Utd kit of the 80s which I never fancied much. Probably not gonna happen this season given the departure from the hoop/band this year.
  9. Absolutely love that Summer Cup kit! Its practically perfect in every way!
  10. You maybe need to actually read what people post instead of just reading what you want to see to feed your trolling. I never doubted KVVs ability, and I never said I didnt think he was a good player, or that his goals werent invaluable to the team. The only thing I did was question his attitude during a period when the entire team were rank and we needed senior players to step up and dig Hammell out a hole. Thats all history now. Hammell is gone, Kettlewell has turned the ship around and KVV is showing the ability that I felt he had in him all along. But you keep on trying to drag up the past if it makes you feel good. The rest of us will just be happy that the team and KVV are in a better place......
  11. Whatever happened to UBH? We could do with some of his excellent input to have is salivating during these times of drought!
  12. Budget wise Rangers could do a lot worse, but I just dont see that tyoe of signing satisfying the baying masses. They still think they are big time. I really hope he doesnt go there. I couldnt bear it. Anywhere outwith Scotland would be fine. Hopefully no one with hard cash comes in and we can offer him an extension on ehanced terms. Or promise to let him go for free next summer and he can pocket the extra cash then.
  13. Misread it. Thought he was on the list of unused subs. Well done for being right though.....
  14. Wee Al rested for the play offs.......
  15. Awe naw! We're doomed now! 😆😆😆
  16. Same as this week. Just maintain the performance levels. No drop off. If that happens, KVV to get a double and the result to take care of itself. If it doesnt then we know how it goes up there.......
  17. The similarities are uncanny! Nothing "budget" about Big Kev!
  18. Aye, but its like a tv or radio show without its tropes. Just wouldnt be the same without them! Grizzlys jokes and MJCs doom laden forecasts are part of the furniture 😆😆😆
  19. I guess thats the trade of isnt it, and all part of the connundrum of who he can play beside. Undoubtedly, playing him and Goss together weakens us defensively, so the steucture of the team needs altered slightly to take acoiunt of that. This seems to be something Kettlewell has worked out but Stevie Hammell didnt/couldnt. The King is dead. Long live the King.......
  20. Im sorry you have had a negative experience. No excuses for that. Not sure having a go at Grizzly G is the appropriate response though. He is probably the least offensive person on these forums.
  21. There is no doubt Butcher and Casey have shored up our defence and should be first picks. But Lamie is a decent back up and would be absolutely fine in a 3 with Butcher alongside him. I think the issue we have is that we really need to trim the squad and we cant afford to have Mugabi, Blaney and Lamie all warming the bench if we want to increase the quality in other areas of the pitch. Re KVV, I really hope that if/when he goes, its to a club outwith Scotland. Id hate to see him playing against us.
