  1. Define "older crowd" I might need to disassociate myself from that particular group! 😆😆😆
  2. You'd need to be deaf to believe that. He got abuse just about every week, even when we were doing well. No worse than pretty much every Motherwell manager we have had in my lifetime, but it was there. Some folk just like to go to the football to vent their spleen. If it stops them battering the wife and kids its probably a good thing......
  3. Booing is part of football and as old as time. I never do it during the game unless its at the officials! 😉 But if a performance has been utterly honking then I think its fair game at half time or full time. Singling individual players out though has never been my bag. Not really sure what it achieves.
  4. Never saw him play, but remember him on the coaching staff during the 91 Cup run. RIP Cammy.
  5. A new manager who filled his team full of 6 foot plus athletes to compete in the top flight was never going to play out well for him. The loan to Millwall was also poorly chosen. Not sure why they took him or why Luton agreed to it. I was surprised though that the loan to Charlton didnt work when he was re-united with the manager that signed him for Luton in the first place. But without seeing them playing every week or knowing what the backstory was its hard to understand why that also failed. Hopefully he can get his career back on track as I still think he has Scotland caps in him as a defensive mid, but Id rather it was away from Scotland and he didnt have to keep coming back to hurt us on a regular basis.
  6. You can criticise SOD for his performances if you like, but to criticise his attitude towards the fans is way off line imho. He takes plenty stick but has never bitten back or disrespected us publicly. He has certainly had his fall outs with managers , but we have all been crying out this season for players who will challenge the manager and not just sit silently and accept what is happening. Personally, I dont think he has been great for us over the piece, but nowhere near as bad as some make him out to be. Thats not a great defence for him and its difficult to see how he keeps his place in a high pressing team, but lets keep it factual.
  7. I kind of agree, but also think thats a bit harsh at the same time. He was never gonna make EPL level as he just isnt big enough or athletic enough to mix it with some of the guys with the same battling qualities he has, but I thought he would do fine in the Championship and he did, initially at least. I always thought he would be very good in the "Scott Brown" role just sitting in front of a back 4 harrying and disrupting. Ironically just the kind of player we need right now. For some reason no one ever played him like that preferring the box to box midfielder role that I didnt think he was particularly suited to. Anyway, not our player now, I wish him well. Just not on Saturday. If he does score, just dont celebrate wee man!
  8. Another one we will need to look after thru a long rehabilitation. Do the football gods not know Ketts has left and his bad luck isnt transferrable?
  9. I would be seriously tempted to give Koutroumbis a run out just to see what he has got. But Ive not seen in training let alone play so I shyed away from that one. Wilson just doesnt look fit enough to me. Id be having a word and giving him those nutrition sheets again. I like him but he has regressed so much since the start of the season. I think there is a player in Thompson maybe clearer messaging will help him?
  10. Im gonna guess the following..... Ward Balmer Gordon Casey Sparrow Miller Slattery Thompson Nicolson Maswanhise Armstrong
  11. Who said anything about leaving us being part of it? He was out of work. He does an interview saying he would love to be back in work. Thistle sack Doolan. Thats convenient.
  12. The timing does seem pretty convenient.....
  13. Clearly not what he says in the interview.....
  14. Watched the whole thing now, and although I do have an element of sympathy over the family issues, its just so wrong on many other levels. Comes across as if he felt very under appreciated for all the work that he did and the sacrifices he made re his family life and thats all very well and good. Thats a principled decision you make as an individual. But dont make it about personal abuse of family members, which seems to be increasingly less the case the more you hear. It wasnt so much an interview as a PR piece by the journalist. Trying to paint it as there being a specific problem at Motherwell is beyond the pale. I presume Alexander is one being referenced and that the other office holders were the ex Chairman and his buddy. Absolutely no context given and just left hanging like a bad smell. Everyone knows that the behaviour of certain individuals at the football can be unpleasant and shouldnt be tolerated. But it happens at every club and is unfortunately part of the territory. It doesnt make it right. Just a fact that requires to be dealt with. If you are unable to deal with it, maybe being a football manager isnt for you?
  15. Really poor interview from Kettlewell. Lost a lot of respect for him after that. Really buddy journo piece trying to get his side of the story out and big him up on the day our new manager is announced is pretty classless. He could have been remembered as a fairly decent Motherwell manager who ran his course and fell on his own sword. But he has burned his bridges there with that piece.
  16. Its far easier to cover with 3 at the back. Whatever full back pushes on is covered by the remaining 4 defenders who just slide across giving you security. Regardless, Sparrow and Thompson both have good engines on them. Their insteuctions just need to be clearer. We do need to get the ball played wide much quicker though. Small tactical and positional tweaks can make a huge difference. As does confidence.......
  17. Just get the wing backs pushed up to where they need to be, would be a start! Let the 3 centre halves deal with the defending part.
  18. Unfortunately for him we might not have the players to cope with that without leaving ourselves wide open at the back. Be interesting to see how he navigates the end of the season. On the plus side it IS fresh eyes on this squad and no one starts with a guaranteed place, so they will all have to impress and earn their place in the team.
  19. I would imagine with the chairmans family connections there would have been conversations had and information shared. Guy has 15 years coaching experience at all levels, so on the face of it, seems like a good fit for us. Time will tell obviously.
  20. Havent seen it mentioned anywhere, but I quite liked the idea of the rolling deals. Meant nobody could ever take our manager without compo but we would never be out of pocket for more than a years salary if it didnt work out. Seem to recall it was one of the first things Caldwell did when he came in. Obviously depends on whether the new guy would be happy with that or not and how attached to the rolling contracts we now are as a club.
  21. Met some guys from Stuttgart at the Euros last summer. Huge Stuttgart fans, took us to their "fan pub" near the stadium. Asked them their thoughts on Wimmer. "Wimmer is a good one. He will definitely be able to help Motherwells" We are getting top 6! 😍😍😍
  22. We seem to have Uniteds number this season in the same way Ross County have ours. Wouldnt be surprised to see us get some sort of result. A draw would be a more than decent start for the new manager....
