  1. Glad to see its done. Would have preferred until the end of the season with the carrot of a 2 year contract if he kept us up, but understand why he would want more security than that if he is having to give up the development job. Good to see some positivity about the appointment. With the good start he has made it has re-energised the support, which in itself could make all the difference in our upcoming fixtures. Saturday is a big game. Looking forward to seeing a big travelling support and hopefully a big performance from the players.
  2. Ok I just got "whooshed" didnt I? Its the de Gea joke.......
  3. What does that mean? You cant seriously be saying he is away watching them instead of taking the team?
  4. No news yet? How long can it take? Hope this isnt hampering our preparations for Saturday!
  5. There is a world of difference between Alexanders long ball football and what we have winessed in the last 2 games. Under Alexander it was turgid shite and barely anything ever stuck up front. How we won so many games from the January to the December is a mystery to me. But he did win those games and our record was the best of the rest in the calendar year. Unfortunately he couldnt maintain the results and when the football is that bad to watch he was always on borrowed time. Whether he would have recovered the situation after Sligo, nobody knows, but I wasnt sad to see him go as I was at the point of giving the football up as it just wasnt enjoyable. The long ball stuff under Alexander was enjoyable initially as well up until Moult left and then our form fell off a cliff. But there is no doubt we were much better to watch when Turnbull came into the team. The last 2 games have been good and there has been enough football played to be entertaining. Obika is a better player with the ball at his feet than he gets credit for and he has breathed life into KVV which has to be welcomed. Like others hace said, it shouldnt need to be either or, we have enough quality in the forward areas to play football in the final third, but nothing wrong with being a little more pragmatic at times. Maybe that was Hammells downfall......
  6. Id go same again and only change it if its not working. We have got so many options off the bench in forward areas. Plenty of our bench got gametime for the reserves today so that should help should they be required.
  7. Some amount of animation on here today! What do folk really think our options are? 1. Take a chance on a guy who has been out of work for 2 years, his last job was a disaster and knows nothing about our players or the Scottish game. 2. Take a chance on a guy with an ok record but with no knowledge of our players or the Scottish game. 3. Take a chance on a guy who got his team promoted from the championship, only to be relegated again the next season when his budget was cut and his co-manager moved upstairs. He also knows our players, knows all our opponents and has back to back wins against the 3rd and 4th teams in the league with a set of players who hadnt won a game since October. We have 12 games to go folks and the next 2 games could see us safe if we win both. We dont have time to be f#cking around bedding in a new manager, new tactics etc. I still wouldnt give Kettlewell the job beyond the end of the season, but give him guarantee its his if he keeps us up. But making any other decision right now comes with massive risk attached. I found this quite interesting.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64712164
  8. I wouldnt imagine there will be many contracts being discussed until we find out what league we will be playing in. Doesnt make much sense for the club or the players.
  9. If we were to win the next 2 games we would go a long way ti ensuring we stay up. It wouldnt be mathematically certain, but it would be a huge psychological blow ti both Killie and County and in all liklihood widen the gap to United as well. I dont see it happening though. 2 tough away games with both teams fighting for their lives. Happily take a point a peice from both knowing that they both have to come to Fir Park after the split.
  10. AllyMax Posted 14 hours ago You'd have to be a total maddie to think they'll be no jokes about his name.......
  11. You wanted rid of Hammell fairly early doors. If its not Kettlewell, which of the other 2 do you prefer? Personally, Im not enthused by either, so Id give it to Kettlewell, but only until the end of the season. If he is able to maintain the run and keeps us up he gets it for longer.
  12. Please tell me you got the joke and just ignored it? Otherwise its a "WHOOSH" 😉
  13. I guess thats a decision for a later date. Right now 3-5-2 seems to be the right fit for the available personnel. Going forward, when Blaney is fit, then maybe pushing Butcher into midfield will allow us to play differently. Right now, it seems to be difficult to fit McKinstry, Danzaki or Tierney into the side. But horses for courses....... PS I agree re the armband. You dont need it to be a leader......
  14. Thought Obika had a much better game now that we realise we need to play it to his chest or feet. He held the ball up well, gave us secure possession and brought others into play. Oh, and he took his goal well. KVV was outstanding again. The difference in his body language from just 2 weeks ago is incredible. Hopefully we can keep him motivated and firing on all cylinders for the rest of the season. Spittal and Cornelius work rate for the team was incredible. Goss, looks so much better when he has others around gim doing the donkeywork. His passing and distribition were excellent. The whole defensive unit were excellent. So much so Kelly barely had a save to make for most of the game. But the stand out for me was Callum Butcher. Led the line well, strong, uncompromising, organised the backline and put his body on the line when it mattered. Oh how we have missed a player with his qualities.
  15. No longer a must win game, but it IS a must not lose game, otherwise the last 2 results will have lost some of their shine. Same again for me. Concentrate on another clean sheet and we will have every chance as we definitely have more attacking options than Killie right now with Vassell being red carded at the weekend and them losing their other 2 strikers in the window. Hopefully a decent support down as well for what is one of the better away days.
  16. They say one swallow doesnt make a summer. What does 2 make? That was seriously impressive today, although I think both Robinson and Alexander would have a wry smile at the way it was acheived. I wouldnt necessarily have been considering Kettlewell for the job before Wednesday, but after those 2 perfomances and results it feels like more of a risk not giving him the job, at least until the end of the season. The next 2 games are huge for our season and upsetting some newly created momentum doesnt sit well. The difference in performance from Hammells last few games to this is pretty unbelievable. It may not last, but bringing someone new in guarantees nothing either. At least this feels tangible.
  17. Brilliant performance. Well organised, energetic and with just enough skill and flair on show to make it really enjoyable. No failures in the ranks again with every player getting more than pass marks and some players looking unrecognisable from the shadows of recent weeks. We learned from Wednesday and played to Obikas strengths more and he looks to have quickly built an understanding with KVV who was fantastic and Spittal who was absolutely everywhere. Really solid defensive performance though, which gave us the foundation to go and play. Butcher was immense and looks like the uncompromising hard b####rd that we have crying out for. Solid performances from both young fullbacks, albeit both will be disappointed with some of their deliveries from wide areas, but that will improve with games. Thoroughly enjoyed that. More of the same at Rugby Park please!
  18. Wow! What an opportunity for him! I wish him well, and once he is bumped next season for Courthois he can come back up the road as a cup winner! 😉
  19. So what your saying is, Chris Cadden IS actually a dick? 😆
  20. Fair doos. Post retracted. I blame the manopause.....
  21. Thats all well and good. But without the agent the players wouldnt know what else was out there and would be more likely to play things safe with what they know. Im not criticising agents, its their job. Just stating the reality of the modern game.
