Can 16 years after the closure really be considered "very very early"? (Not having a pop, just asking folks opinions) Can't help but think the whole project, to date, has been a monumental fuck-up. Granted, the original decontamination program was always going to take years, but the lack of real progress in my opinion has been staggering. If rumours are to believed, there are still serious contamination issues which will hamper further development. I might be being unfair in the extreme here, but it's hard to imagine another local council (and associated contractors) that could have made a bigger arse of this than NLC...

Byron's Well In Motherwell have taken giant English defender Byron Webster on trial. The 6ft5 star has spent the past 18 months in the Czech Republic with FK SIAD Most. He signed a 2-year deal with the club in the summer despite being relegated from the top division. But the 21-year old is now considering a return to the UK and McGhee has been quick to capitalise on the Czech winter break. He said: "He only arrived on Tuesday and it's unfortunate the weather has meant we've not been able to look at him yet. But he's here because he plays in a position we want to add to." Webster was originally a midfielder and spent a brief spell at Leeds as a kid before moving on to York City in 2004 where he turned pro and scored one goal in 22 games over 3 years. He joined Conference outfit Harrogate Town in 2007 before taking up Most's offer in August of that year and has bagged 4 goals in his 23 games. The big man said he can't wait to see 'Well tuck St Mirren away and pump the Jambo's. (erm, this bit might no actually be in the paper...) McGhee will also try and sign a new keeper in next months window, after allowing Gunnar Neilsen to return to Blackburn. The Faroe Islands goalie spent the first half of the season on loan at Fir Park without featuring. McGhee has been linked with Linfields Alan Mannus but he could opt to bring in another player from England instead. Lets hope he's as good as he is tall!
