I termed my question not to be dismissive of the posters' thoughts despite me not agreeing, simply to gauge who he/she thought was best placed to carry out the role. For the record, I'm comfortable with the appointment. His first interview aligned with a little research for me. By your own admission, moderate success to further emphasise a proven track record. Perhaps not a point to prove, he sees the post as a challenge. Wholeheartedly agree on importance of shaping the squad this month.

Not discounting your theory, out of curiosity - who would you have installed in the role?

Really? Engage brain before speaking. Promoted to be more hands on with first team by Robinson was a raise in standards at the time - reserve football isn’t all about winning. Experience was gained in Scandinavia to get onto the ladder whilst earning mqualifications before deciding to be nearer home for family reasons. Get over yourself on responses, you’re not that important - it’s easy pickings. Stick to making up ‘exclusives’. It’s the first window you’ve not mentioned Marvin Johnson or Louis Moult returning.

What sort of record do you expect at reserve level? Development aside, there’s not a lot at stake with competition skewed when the awards are handed out. He’s raised standards & his methods were enjoyed. May be that our new regime decide on a different approach, think you’ll find the decision was financial.

Reported when I lived/worked in the North East that Aberdeen matched the salary offered by Sunderland that has the ire of plenty up there who always expect more. Would dwarf the sum mentioned.

If only it was as simple as that. The ones you lauded didn’t force their way in either so revisionism there. Played out of necessity. Failing to realise transfer value for one hasn’t helped progress & opportunity has been minimal. That’s fact. Can also be argued a loyalty to those trusted & experienced seen the downfall of a good manager. He admitted as much in his final post match comments. I’d call you out on the nepotism claim too, Harry Robinson offered something different to what was available & didn’t hinder progress of any other prospect & certainly of little effect on our budget, but, doubt you’re for listening.

Bullshit. What have you seen of their progress? I’d wager not a lot. WOW factor to come in and play consistently? Only one can really be said of that was Turnbull and he is genuinely a once in a generation type. He’s gone, we’ll benefit from monies generated. Allan Campbell didn’t have a WOW factor, but, those who did could see he’d progress - it’s now time to think of life after Campbell. Incredibly naive to think he’d extend a contract beyond his 22 years. Each has come in when given their chance and offered something different. To further develop a sales pitch for them, those behind haven’t been offered same opportunity- time is on their side though.

Have you proof we haven’t been interested? Realising value in the Scottish market has proved more difficult.
