Peter Grant? Never been one to pay much heed to the BBC Gossip page, but, what next? Sir Alex Ferguson? -

It's McKinlay. Shut the book. Next. -
Right we got you. Shut up - it's boring. Suspect you & steelboy would be into 2 man bum chains...

The Next Manager, Who Would You Want And Who Could We Get

Whilst I agree, discussing managers contracted to other clubs is crass, please stop peddling 'we can't afford to pay x,y & z' as it's a misnomer... Not that I suspect they will, if compensation is required to install the correct man for the job - the club will foot the bill. -
That's the crux here, it suits the 'in it for the blazers' mentality that prevails. And for I and other fellow members I know of, it's a major stumbling point. Dress it up how they like... The club has an offer on the table that outweighs what's on offer from the society, wether it presents better value for the club may well be debated in future - if we were under the control of the bank like others, we'd be seeing a powershift with any outside investment embraced long since. Would it be prudent for both parties to combine efforts?
-
Can we refrain from questioning legitimacy & ability to work for a club like ours... To a certain extent it already has or the administration process may have been in full swing 2 years ago. No doubting a lack of transpareny when the whole 'fan ownership' ethos should be engaging the fans wether the responses be positive and negative. What was the credentials to receive one of the club letters? Know of sponsors who have contributed similar monies already this term who haven't received any...
-
Eh? Don't think you've grasped the 'Society has bailed the club out twice already' ideal have you? Proof that the Society hasn't been the waste of time you & plenty other doubters suggest.
-
Yes, his slip didn't help either, Fraser Kerr's failure to hold the line is every bit as bad.
-
That's not fact, unless Ms Dempster & Mr Weir were economical with the truth... Whilst it is restrictive in achieving the aims of some, there were times when the playing budget remained the same.
-
I disagree. Jim Gannon brought with him a vision that was matched by our board, hence, he was given everything he requested. Given the relative success we have enjoyed may well have diluted that process since, the essence of the blue print he offered is still at the forefront of the boards thinking from what I've seen or heard - we just haven't matched those ambitions yet, while it seems others around us are. Now, we can wax lyrical on the merits of Gannon's tenure, both those for & the haters for sake of hating - believe there was fault on both sides, from the outside his erratic behaviour left his position untenable, just felt we missed a trick & would be interested to see where that particular plan took us. Whilst Stuart McCall should rightly be heralded for his achievements especially in relation to what we're lead to believe is an ever decreasing budget. The business is about the here and now & I've felt for a long time he had squeezed as much as he could from the squad, evident to those in Iceland with no sign of any recovery since. I do believe that management teams have a shelf life, he had banked enough in the vault to warrant time to turn things around, but, even the staunchest of his supporters will be questioning his latest offerings. Think it's crass to be suggesting replacements when he is still in the job and was recently lead to believe that will remain the case regardless of general opinion. Rest assured, when or if, the time comes to make change Derek Weir will be scouring the leftfield for the appointment & not using the old boys network & Scottish managerial merry-go-round we see elsewhere & truth be told, that's what gives most of us the fear.
-
Based on what information? A misconception that James himself dispelled in a recent interview which gave rise to your next point of others questioning his value. Suppose the truth will out as the published accounts become available with some members on here having access as shareholders... As for his loss not being responsible for squad meltdown - granted, not entirely, but, a contributory factor none the less no matter those who heralded 'Josh Law as an improvement' dress it up.
-
So by that school of thought, neither should Kerr & I doubt I'll be the only one to think our pursuit of O'Brien was another in a long line of folly? Adam Cummins is certainly no worse... Main objective should be the protection of the back 4 from their midfield counterparts, we have the resources to do so, time will tell.
-
Always find the team selections made on here are wank. Neilsen in goals? Really? Dan Twardzik has been competent and at times, has kept us in most games. Shoe horning Ramsden into our line up baffles me too, given recent performances. Kerr? SNAP.
-
Update appreciated also.

2 appearance, 2 goals

An update? Tactics? Dress it up how you like, little or no description of any change given... On the first point, we are definitely not looking to run Motherwell FC by committee. If the Well Society succeeds in becoming majority shareholder, the structure of the club administration will not be drastically altered. It was billed as a "revolution" by the club but that is something of a misnomer. Once we acquire a majority shareholding, there will still be paid professionals who are tasked with the day-to-day running of the club. There will still be a board of directors who set the budget and oversee the performance of these employees, as is the case now. steelboy recently offered the opinion 'the reality is that beyond putting in a bit of money now and then the society has no influence in the club'. That statement from the Society supports this no? What will be different is that the Well Society members will elect their preferred choices to represent them on the Motherwell FC board and these directors will be answerable to Well Society members. Different you say? In what way? The status quo? Well Society members will get the chance to question their directors and ultimately de-select them if not satisfied. They will also have the chance to help shape the priorities and vision for the club. More details will be announced of this structure soon. Agan, the status quo. There will still be other interests and shareholders represented on the MFC board. There will also be a separate Well Society board, as there is now, which will continue to raise money and hold events and try to recruit new members. Anybody seeing similarity here? An interesting article on football utopia - I know it's only Falkirk Similar point discussed at many Society meetings - "Supporters tend to rally together in times of crisis. The problem is working out how to do that when there isn't a crisis. We commissioned research into fan ownership, and in every case, it had been following an insolvency event. Most cases, the club were playing a lower level of football now than they had been." When the main drivers grasp this ideal, perhaps they'll appreciate a broader understanding as to why many are not sharing the Society vision of the way forward? Disillusioned member.

Not so much the tracking back, it's the inability to tackle on his right hand side given the way the manager had them set up to play. Again Fraser Kerr caught way up the park and no cover from our centre pairing either... Very similar to that of the 3rd goal. Carswell has all the attributes to play the holding role in midfield, not the box to box midfield duties being asked of him
-
Back in the house for quarter past 5 through traffic! Strange selection, even stranger substitutions. Josh Law a professional footballer? Really? Fraser Kerr is wank, but, has shown 'form' this season? That's just for starters... Senior players need to stand up and be counted which they aren't presently & don't look capable of doing so.
-
Can't defend the indefensible.
-
That's form? Wouldn't play in my team again after Kilmarnock... Be better off starting with 10 men!
-
Can only echo that. Would love to see him hit the coveted 50 cap mark for entrance into the Hall of Fame, travesty if he never given such leading lights of the game in the shape of Roy Aitken, Christain Dailly & Gary Caldwell made it.
-
Flares you say? The wide legged items of clothing? Now that is a crime as they went out with Nelsons' eye There is a difference between them and smoke pellets, perhaps 'tapping into something you clearly know little about' is the phrase you are looking for.
-
Woosh... You're not quite getting the hang of this sarcasm malarkey are you?
-
Know them personally do you?
