Chris Porter?? They were friendlies, i bet if we played them in proper matches, it would be tighter against all of these sides. They might not be world beaters but i bet you a monkey that they as good or in fact better than the likes of the players who have left. Quinn, Hughes, Clarkson, Klimpl, Smith etc etc were hardly world beaters themselves.

How can you judge these signings from the lower leagues? Have you an in-depth knowledge of the lower leagues of England?? When was the last time you saw the lad Jennings play a full game?? Were Porter(League 1) and Foran(League 2) lightweight duds from the lower leagues?

Are you Jim McLean?? Get everyone signed up for 10 years and all that!!! - the club can't force players to sign contracts. If they had been offered longer-term contracts(and maybe they where???), they may have knocked them back. They may have only signed their contracts because they were two year deals. You also run the risk of Bobo Balde situations, where you sign a player up on a long-term contract only for the player to fall out of favour and refuse to leave as on a cushy contract to do nothing.

From the 3 or 4 Tranmere forums i was on earlier today, the majority of the fans were gutted that he was leaving. Some mentioned that he might have been captain, this season too. How things change when someone offically leaves the club!!! Even when i check them now, they seem to think he's more of a loss than Antony Kay, who left the club in May. Kay, was Tranmere's Supporters Player of the Year in 2008/2009.

Various reasons provided; From what i could gather, they all felt moving to Motherwell offered him better opportunities(playing Europe, playing against OF etc). They also felt they had wasted time on getting a new contract signed because of management changes at Tranmere. Many not happy with John Barnes' appointment. Some mentioned the "Gannon effect" - seems oor man may have fans at other clubs too. One fan even compared Tranmere & Motherwell, in terms of average attendance & financial income.

Had a quick look around some Tranmere forums and they all seem gutted that this guy is leaving. He was even linked to being their captain this season.

Even McGhee had his haters, even though we finished 3rd in season 1 and a reasonable 7th in season 2(ok for Motherwell FC). According to his dad, McBride is joining Hibs this week or next week. I would have liked to have seen him play under McGhee, he only left due to Malpas and Hegarty.

What can the club possibly do??? Smith, Hughes and McLean have been offered contracts - they haven't signed them nor have they signed for someone else as yet. We can't force players to re-sign. I would imagine that these contracts are still on offer unless they have completely rejected them already and i wouldn't rush out and break the bank to keep any of them. To be honest, even if McGhee had stayed, Smith, Hughes and Kimpl didn't seem interested in staying.
