I hope I am wrong but I'm not convinced by Van Der Gaag, I honestly don't see his past experiences/contacts in Portugal being of great advantage to us for various reasons. If we do start bringing in players from Portugal, how will they settle into life in Scotland, language barriers etc? We haven't got time on our hands to bed these guys into the team due to a possible relegation battle on our hands. We wouldn't be able to bring in South American players as easily as they do in Portugal due to UK immigration laws. Lets be honest, our market for signing players is from British &Irish clubs, that's unlikely to change with VDG in charge or not. Say what you like about Jim Gannon's time in charge but his transfer policy and giving youth a chance is our way forward and I think the fella Barraclough is best suited to oversee it.

Aberdeen away in 2008/2009 season(I think) - 4 of us were to leave Larkhall on the 6:37am train. One slept in and didn't come along. 3 of us (Including someone sporting a lovely pair of Adi Suedes for their 1st outing) headed to Aberdeen and arrived there around 10/11am. By 3pm, I was the only one who made it into the game (one arrested at some point on way to game for being drunk & disorderly and the other one refused entry after deciding to try climb the perimeter fence into away end, as you do when you get lost) I lasted until 3.15 and fell asleep inside the ground for 25 minutes, successfully managing to miss nothing(by all accounts a dour game). Woke up and then proceeded to look and love my bright Adi Suedes in a dark, cold November afternoon in Aberdeen. Hink we got beat 2-0, nae idea though!! Ended up in Meltin' Pot in Starka once I got back to Motherwell after somehow getting into 1st Class for an extra couple of pounds on train hame fae Aberdeen.

My understanding is that the Society Fund would be used as a short-term loan-like fund. They mentioned that the way that payments from TV, Prize Money etc are paid out, periods around January/February can leave the club short on cashflow. The fund would be used then (and of course only if required) during these times. The Society Fund would then be replaced as the income picks up again later in the season. All for it to be honest!!!
