  1. Good solid professional perfromance tonight. Good to see them trying to play football on the deck for the majority of the game. All three goals came from very very good crosses into the box. Big Sutts will score a barrowlaod if he gets that service all year. I was impressed with our young lads again tonight, Saunders, Forbes, Slane all played well. Good. return to form for Reynolds aswell. Marked improvemnet all round after a week with Gannon. Was impressed by him making subs aswell, if it was MM he would have made one change at around 80 mins. Happy with that tonight.
  2. Dykstra Nijholt Corrigan Martin McKinnon Cooper O'Neil O'Donnell McFadden Coyne Arnott. Subs. Maxwell, McCart, Russell, Gahagan, Kirk, Krivocapic, McDonald, Clarkson
  3. That is him being serious.......... he thought out a well rounded response but it came out "I Like chips", was a heavy weekend for him
  4. Agree 100% Steve. Its about time we as a support get behind the team in particular the younger players in the squad who are the lifeblood and the future of our club. The good thing about Forums is that we can vent our frustration but its time we started being more constructive in our critiscism and not so personal, why some people feel the need to personally abuse some of our players confounds me. The team and club are going through massive transition on the pitch and they are really going to need or support and backing in the next few months. If the team are happy they will play well, lets make them realise that we do support them through thick and thin and hope that in doing so they can give us the effort and results that we deserve as supporters.
  5. I'm taking it from this post that you never went to any game at the start of last season. The boy was happily ripping teams new arseholes. His runs and movements from the midfield were excellant to watch and he was gliding past players for fun. His final delivery was a bit poor but that only gets better with maturity ala McFadden. He was a victim of being under used by McGhee I feel. I genuinely feel that Jamie Murphy is a very exciting talent who faded last year. On Thursday night the Welsh mob had two people marking him, the full back and so called left midfielder or 2nd full back as he was playing. He only had Saunders as support as our central midfield where really posted missing. It was a very difficult game and due to the lack of space not much Jamie could really do. I dont think we should sell him at all as I can feel this year will be a good year for the lad working under JG and getting a good run. Murphy is exactly what JG likes in players, athletic, mobile, versatile(plays on flanks and down the middle) and has pace to burn.
  6. Shit hot for the full season mate.,.......... or just a few games. How many goals did he score for us that year? I think 9. I really dont agree with the assesment he had a shit hot season. Think that is a bit OTT. Edoit:- Ignore this just read the posts below and the replies... all sorted then
  7. Are you having a giraffe my friend. Dont let the fact McCormack had a good season last year make you think he is anywhere near the quality of McFadden. McDonald, McFadden and Pearson IMO are far superior players to McCormack. McFadden is one of the geatest players i have ever seen play for the Well, a sheer touch of absolute class.
  8. Just in from the game and I am very disapointed with the effort from a few of our so called more experienced players aka Reynolds, McGarry, Lasley, Craggs, Sutton, O'Brien where all very poor tonight. I know its very early in the season to judge and it is our 1st competative game per se but you just cant help being disapointed. One thing is for sure, Sutton aint no lone striker. Plaudits must go to young Slane when he came on, eventually gave us the spark and I thought Forbes looked very comfortable on the ball. Very few other passbacks. The goal could very easily have been stopped, Graeme Smith...oops sorry Michael Fraser(both similar at cross balls bye the looks of it) failed to come off his line and collect. Again its early doors and the tie aint over but its doesnt feel good tonight.
  9. In regards to Brain Mclean I must admit to being very disappointed in his interviews so far. Not once as he yet thanked Motherwell or the Fans for standing bye him during his time at the club with horrendous injuries. Would be nice to get even a little comment as when you think about it he cost us a hell of a lot of money during his time at the club with wages and physio fees etc.........
  10. £700k would be a great figure to get for Quinn. I like him as a player but it would be really good money for a right back. I also think from what I saw of Saunders last year in the reserves and 1st team that he is definately ready to step into the position. It would be similar to when we sold Steven McmIllan and replaced him with Stevie Hammell. The only way young players will learn is by playing.
  11. Think it was Clyde he played for..
  12. Think this could be a fantastic signing for the club. great to see JG move quickly to sign a player. Very pleased with this.
  13. Tremendous player Clarky lad. All the best in the future and hope to see you back again soon son.
  14. Apart from Staumton I quite like the look of that list of managers. I think Boothroyd or Gannon would be very positive appointments. Both young, keen up and coming managers who do have experience down south with some degree of success. The only disconcerting thing is none of the 4 quoted have any experience in Scotland. Am I right in saying that McGhee was overlooked for the Hibs job before coming to Motherwell and so was Gannon.......... might be a similar outcome. Would be good.
  15. If we can make anthing around the £1m for Mark then I would sell him. It would most certainly make things easier for the club and I think in Hutchison and Page we have a couple of players to slot right in there.
  16. Quoted by a St Mirren fan on Pie and Bovril that we are interested in Kiegan Parker. I take what they numptys say with a pinch of salt mind you but havent heard this rumour before.
  17. Dont really want to start a new thread on this but just out of a matter of interest how much compensation should we be asking for MM....... How much is the new pitch and stand work costing..... thats exactly how much I would demand, minimum I would request is £250k, really dont think he should be going on the cheap.
  18. If McGhee goes to Celtic I would say... yeah fair enough he is going to a bigger and better club. He'll have money to spend, he'll have good wages to pay..... he'd be back on the dole in 18months time. But I wouldnt have any hard feelings towards him. If he goes to aberdeen then I'll be disappointed and I would be angry. They pay more wages yes.... do they have a better youth system no I wouldnt say so... do they have a better team... no. Fair enough they are in the Europa league but without significant investment they would do the same as us and bomb out. Aberdeen are a bigger club than us, thats not in question, bigger turnover, more fans, bigger stadium, bigger potential(ish). But they are £6m in debt, pay crazy wages to shit players, dont have any money to spend, have a shit team, have fans who moan more than us, yes thats possible. He is also in a position that if he fails his stock will drop considerably because of all the factors I have mentioned. If he goes then this will annoy me and I would have angry feelings towards him. His stock will rise further if he stays at Motherwell and takes them to top 6 again next year and qualifies for the Europa league. 3 years and 3 European qualifications, good football on a smaller budget with a smaller club. Would be a smarter career move if you ask me.
  19. Noticed this in the Soccer Shorts in the Daily Record " Motherwell are reported to be close to securing a deal for Dumbartons former Everton and Crewe left sided defender Patrick Boyle, who impressed in the Son's successfull Third Division title winning season" Dont know much about the lad but at least we are looking at other players outwith the norm.
  20. Agree 100% with that post Mr Diggle. I think Fitzy does a very decent job for the team and a lot of folk give him a hard time. He is a confidence player and I think we will see a big improvemnet in his perfomances next year. All we have to do is look at Clarkson as an example, he fell away and was performing poorly for a few years and took a fair bit of abuse, look at him now. Really hope Fitzy can do the same and turnaround our boo boys.
  21. Anyone who knows me will know my opinion on said Mr Mccormack. But I must admit very nice peice about him saying some encouraging words about the club. Always good for some decent PR at the moment with that and the Europa place. http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/index.php?op...&Itemid=133
  22. Excellant news......... good start to the new season.
  23. Theres been a couple....... Clarkson and Porters Red cards. The two penalty claims at St Mirren on the last game at Love Street. Kris Boyd bein about 5-10 yards offside for the 1st goal in the 3-1 defeat at Ibrox for me has to be the worst descision of the season against us. He ran from about 15 yards offside onto 5 yards offside and it still wasnt given. Both the ref and lino where at fault for that on that occasion.
  24. Still not recived my renewal letter..... neither has my old man or my best mate.... Maybe trying to tell me something....
  25. Was it CB he was playing. Sounds very promising. Might save us some cash from a transfer signing.
