  1. I would have Smith and Doubourdeux ahead of Hollis tbh WJ and in my opinion also he was an awful keeper.
  2. Do we actually need much more. I don't think so tbh. Goalies:- Dan, Gunnar and Stewart/Currie RB:- Reid, Kerr, Ramsden LB:- Hammell, ZFA CB:- McManus, Kerr, Ramsden, O'Brien, Neill, Cummins RM:- Ainsworth, Law, Cadden LM:- Vigurs, ZFA, Thomas, Ojaama, Law CM:- Lasley, Carswell, Leitch, Lawson, Vigurs, Law Forwards:- Erwin, Ojaama, Sutton, Moore, McHugh You can always strengthen but I think doing so abore would be to the detriment of our youth development. I'm happy enough to go with this squad in the interim.
  3. What a difference a week makes in football. This time last week I was apathetic about the game and the season. 7 days later I'm buzzing for ra mora!! Wee Henrik is back! Ps Even knowing Steven McLean is the ref. actually going to applaud him for allowing Suttons tackle on Langfield.
  4. I agree, his movement and ability to drag opposition players all over the place will definately create space for others. He could be the perfect foil for either Sutton or Erwin and we cant forget how many goals he created for us previously. Big Sutts should thrive on some of his service. Its all starting to come together for me... genuinely excited for the first time in ages now, with this signing, Erwins and Leitchs promise.... Happy days.
  5. Brilliant signing.... the wee man is back to terrorise defences..... Exactly what we need. Can see McHugh going out on loan now and maybe Cummins to help finance it.
  6. You cannot under estimate the success of cups and playing young homegrown hungry talent. To me crowds rise and fall with cup success and Utd have had more of that than us. This generates excitement. We finished 2nd last year but other than the Dons game there actually wasn't that much excitement or IMO freshness. We were grinding out results against the bottom 6. Wasn't exactly enjoyable to watch. Lay fans would have drifted and we don't exactly promote ourselves overly well. Utd have made £6m in fees, reached a cup final, signed decent prospects and play attacking football. Fans will go back.
  7. Due to recent success and quality on the pitch tbh. There crowds are increasing.... Ours are decreasing.
  8. Great to hear that both Erwin and Leitch shine again. Early days for both but you can clearly see both are players. I've been saying for a few weeks I would start Leitch as I think he brings balance to the midfield and if that's at the expense of Lasley then so be it. Some positives tonight by the sounds of things and roll on Saturday. I'm actually looking forward to going now mainly to see Erwin and hopefully Leitch.
  9. Sutton must have been bad. SMc actually subbed him!! That never happens!!!!
  10. I agree 100% MB. Hopefully SMc will give Erwin more of a chance after his start than he did with Moore who went back to the bench and didn't get much of a sniff if my recollection is correct. To an extent rightly so due to Suttons goals and Anier/Faddy ahead. I fully expected Moore if he wasn't injured to have been given a fair whack of game time this year. Ahead of Boab and possibly Erwin. But you cannot legislate for injuries. No one is claiming he is the messiah who will win the league for us but after a summer of disappointment and very little excitement it's genuinely interesting to see that our biggest attacking threat at the weekend was a young developing player who showed hunger and desire to prove himself.....
  11. Cannot agree more.......... Let's not get excited about our own homegrown talent..... Or get excited about a potential very good young footballer coming up to further his career with a loan spell. Let's all sit and dwell on last seasons glory and the rotten pre-season!!! That's much more fun!!!
  12. Agreed. Concrete and grass stains from falling on his arse. Big fella scored a lot of goals last year but Lee looked and is looking a better more athletic link up option.
  13. Hahaha someone on the Mail reads yer posts SD!!! Didn't see that actually as posting from my phone and previous page!
  14. There's an article in the Daily Mail that we are trying to sign Devante Cole, son of Andy Cole and striker at Man City on loan..... If he is half as good as his old man I will be happy!!!
  15. Where did you hear that? Any mention of the player in question?
  16. 3 points, clean sheet and a goal from a young home grown striker. Good start to the season. As others have mentioned we rode our luck at times but we defended reasonably well and St Mirren where wasteful. Wee Dan made a few good saves and looked solid. Some decent play going forward aswell with a few chances created. Thought Law looked decent, tidy in possession and looking to drive forward and link play. Kerr was pretty solid playing in his natural position and was clear he's a defender and not a right winger!!! Also he wanted to come off injured after 60mins but SMc went off his head at him basically telling him to man up and get on with the game. Reid was clearly not fit. ZFA had a decent enough game, probably his best a FB for a while. Big Erwin looks a player, good touch, strong and skilful with a wee bit of pace aswell. Held the ball up well without feeling the need to fall on his arse which was different from his strike partner. Think Lasley and Carswell were outplayed by McLean and McGinn. Lasley in particular I thought had a poor game, he worked really hard and put himself about but was loose in possession. Less than 4000 well fans at the first game of the season after finishing 2nd last year also is quite worrying.
  17. Difficult one, Twardzik looked solid other than a few loose kick outs. Good performances from Law, Kerr and I'm usually a critic but ZFA was decent at LB albeit his distribution was poor. I'm going to for Erwin tho, not just for the goal but his alround play. Looking to take the ball to feet and bring others into play. Offered a lot more than his strike partner. Had a slack 10 min spell but other than that good 90 minutes.
  18. Team Twardzik Reid, Kerr, McManus, ZFA Ainsworth Lasley Carswell Law Erwin and Sutton Subs: Gunnar, Lawson, McHugh, Leitch, Thomas, Ferguskn So defence isn't that bad. Relatively strong but how many are fully fit??
  19. Don't think you can play trialists in the SPL..?
  20. Not the only ones. My old boy and I were saying the same. Both of us are pretty scunnered with the football at the moment. Think we peaked excitement after the Dons game and quick re signing of players. I'll still be there tomorrow but can't say I am excited in the slightest. With the injuries tomorrow I have genuinely no idea what the team will be defensively .... Carsy - two off Cummins/Neill/Kerr - Ferguson Ainsworth - Leitch - Lasley - Law Sutton - McHugh Oooft..... Midfield looks decent but the rest is a complete worry!! Hopefully McManus or Reid are fit to slot in somewhere.
  21. That is a killer..... We have lost potentially well over a million from the loss to Stjarnan. Obviously would have needed to beat Poznan but Oooft!!!! A sold out Fir Park against Inter Milan..... Stuff dreams are made off!!
  22. I would like...... Neilsen Ramsden Kerr McManus Hammell Ainsworth Carswell Leitch Law Sutton Erwin But I think it is likely to be...... Twardzik Reid Cummins McManus Hammell Ainsworth Carswell Lasley Law Sutton McHugh 1st Sub 66th min, Ainsworth off Kerr on, 2nd sub 75th min Law(new Anier/McFadden as never plays 90) ZFA on 3rd sub 86th min McHugh off for Erwin. 1-1 draw at FT after leading until the 85th min thru a Sutton goal, Saints score through Gregg Wylde to equalise.
