  1. I have just heard the sad news about Bill Dickie. Not much I can add that has not been said above, I remember him from the early seventies and thru my contacts with some of the players from that era. He was a true Mr Motherwell . My Thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP Bill
  2. Oh yes! I would have liked THAT ADIDAS strip!
  3. Ally McLeod was the manager back then and when he was asked the same question he said when the players are good enough then we will have a badge on the kit ...or words to that effect. Anyway, we got the MFC monogram and later our current badge. Re the badge back in the early seventies when the central SMT bus company had a depot in East Kilbride a bus conductor from Blantyre was a dinky die Motherwell fan, he had a little hold all bag claret in colour and amber text Motherwell FC also on the bag was the current MFC badge (not with the 125 text) I wondered why the club took so long in wearing that badge on the strips. Yes Brian is sadly missed a great player for Motherwell.
  4. RE: pic 3. was it shortly after that we went to that ADIDAS kit?
  5. Yes that is strange Admiral would use that one with vertical stripes in the competition considering no one really liked it.
  6. What a cracking strip we had in the seventies....and a cracking team as well that should have done better...and the fans standing...thanks for the pics UBH
  7. Motherwell’s Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Dunfermline has been postponed due to high winds causing damage to Fir Park Stadium. The match will now take place on Tuesday 24th January 2012 – Kick-off 7.45pm. Chief Executive Leeann Dempster said, “We were obviously desperate to get the game on but there has been significant structural damage to the ground. “That could have posed a risk to supporters so with that in mind, we have agreed with Dunfermline to postpone the fixture and replay it at the earliest opportunity.”
  8. I am sure we did.....been awhile the little grey cells are going dim
  9. Have you got tickets for the world's richest lottery draw Thursday, which will shower winners with a record 2.5 billion euros ($3.3 billion) in prizes.? If you won would you give any to Motherwell FC? Well...would you?
  10. number 3! I think the claret shorts from the home strip of that era would have looked ok with the away kit....
  11. Just watched the highlights and the goals on MFCTv...looked like it was a good game..good size crowd how many? good build up for Higgy's goal ....thought Randy was a wee bit cold with not having to much to do most of the game... but I have to say St Mirren's goal was well struck....not a bad game on a cold winters night at Fir Park...glad am typing this in the warm tropical Sunday morning here...

True Fir Park legends who appear include John 'Sailor' Hunter, Hughie Ferguson, George Stevenson, Bobby Ferrier, Willie McFadyen, Willie Kilmarnock, Andy Paton, Charlie Aitken, Ian St John, Joe Wark, Wullie Pettigrew, Tommy McLean, Johnny Gahagan, Stevie Kirk, Phil O'Donnell, Davie Cooper, Dougie Arnott, Tommy Coyne, James McFadden and Stephen Craigan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7JTwxUOhSY Thanks to Gobstopper
  17. As the club celebrates its 125th anniversary, just a wee tribute to some of the players and managers who helped build Motherwell FC. Starting with the first ever Motherwell team from 1886, there are pictures and a few film clips of legends such as John 'Sailor' Hunter, who managed the 'Well for 35 years, leading them to their only top division success in the 1931/32 season. Bobby Ferrier (over 600 appearances in 20 years), Willie McFadyen (who still holds the record for goals scored in a single season in Scotland's top flight) and George Stevenson (who spent 16 years as a player and 9 as manager at Fir Park) feature from the great side of the 1930's. Also included are the League Cup and Scottish Cup winning side of the early 1950's and their successors, the 'Ancell Babes'.
