I agree. But the bigger issue for me is whoever leaked that him and Casey had the bust up - the writing was clearly on the wall after that
-
There's been a few people on Facebook who have said tonight that he and some players got a lot of abuse at both the St Johnstone games. I personally don't feel like I've been thrown under the bus - because I've never abused him - and like I said the other night - I don't think any professional footballer should be downing tools. Until very recently I was living well below the poverty line - I've scraped the money together to get both of my last two years season tickets and some very well paid players just decide to pack it in - not good enough in my view - and some of them have done it with other managers as other folk have said Aye that statement will have rubbed folk up the wrong way - but it's not all on him
-
I agree. Won't happen
-
He's gone. Board have reluctantly accepted his resignation
-
Yeah - not good. Agree
-
Is he off to Hearts?
-
Yeah - all the press articles say that he agreed to the new rolling contract on 31 August last year
-
That's right.
-
I believe so.

Behind a paywall if you don't subscribe - could someone copy and paste it?

Great balanced post

I also think that whatever issues Dan Casey might have with Kettlewell - that it should have been kept private. I see no benefit in someone leaking that there is issues between a manager and player - particularly when we aren't performing at the moment. There has been criticism of Kettlewell criticising players in interviews - in my view that goes both ways - what happens in the dressing room should stay there. And if that did happen. I don't think it should have been put on pie and bov - someone leaked that - I'd be really interested to know who it was and why they did it It just puts a manager who is under pressure under more pressure in my view. I also saw posts on social media saying that Casey came back to us the second time very unfit because he spent the entire summer on the lash - that may or may not be true - by the same token everything that's said about Kettlewell might not be either.
-
Im not diminishing your point of view but - this is the same Casey that some fans have said should be punted after this season - and some fans have had nothing good to say about Balmer either. I've seen people say he's good at long throws and nothing else Im a big Casey fan for the most point but some people haven't been - he's been shaky in defence more than once this season This is also the same Casey who signed very late for us the second time around because he was clearly looking at other options.

You make very good points. I think we miss Spittal a lot. I think he was very underrated and it's not always easy just to find a like for like player. I know some people don't rate Slattery but I think Spittal and Slattery had a very good partnership - also agree that we can't build the midfield around Miller no matter how good he is

That was really interesting last week. Some very good chat with David - I'm looking forward to it

I have family who are Motherwell fans. One isn't particularly a Kettlewell fan but isn't banging the drum for him to go. We had a chat today and he said the next few games will be important - of course they will. Like someone said the other week on here - maybe fans who post online on forums are more invested than those who don't post. It's changed times really - back in the day when I was supporting Motherwell there was no Internet. You watched the game and you went home - maybe fans made their points in different ways I think it's more short term now all over the piece - like there were a lot of calls for Goodwin to get out of Dundee Utd but they are doing well now - so obviously it's very results driven (no shit sherlock) Potentially managers now have about two or three years to solidify their clubs position and if they aren't cutting it then that's that
-
The thing is though - we are small in numbers here - and what people post might be representative of the wider fan base - but it might not. I get that the team were booed at the last two home games and I also get that it's a very tight league - but we aren't the only team on a poor run right now. Aberdeen are. St Mirren are. Killie are. I also completely get every single person's reservations about him - even if my views don't particularly align with theirs. If we do sack him now another manager is going to have to get results from the same group of players -and that obviously can happen as we saw when he took over from Hammell The next few games will obviously dictate what happens off the park
-
Also agree.
-
I agree with you
-
I think I'll do the same. Apparently Slattery and Moses were unwell yesterday not injured.
-
Thanks for your response. I appreciate it

I've never suggested for one minute that everyone is getting at me. If I really felt like that I wouldn't be on here at all.
-
Listen - I want to apologise for the way I reacted to your post. I'll also say that I will be sorry to see him go but the club has to come first - however I don't think he'll be sacked any time soon - perhaps if we lose the Ross County game he might get to the point where he feels he has to walk. Or the decision might be taken out of his hands. Things might change if we get a result at Ross County - it only takes a win or two to change things around. I don't have all the answers. There are several teams on a poor run just now. St Mirren. Killie. Aberdeen. We aren't the only team in this position - and sometimes when you need a result - you won't get one. Of course there are people who think he should have been sacked last year but he wasn't - and ultimately the decision will be down to the board or Kettlewell or both. There have been other posters on here who have said that as long as he keeps us clear of relegation his job will be safe -but like Alexander - if he does lose the fans then it won't be.
