  1. None of that will really matter if we end up there - which I'm not sure we will. Yeah we do need fresh ideas - I'm just not sure sacking him at this point in the season (which some people clearly want) is the best idea
  2. I've actually never been to watch Motherwell away in Europe in all my time of being a fan. Surely it can be a bit both? It's gutting to be out of the cup at this stage but getting to Europe does mean a lot to some fans. You could see what it meant to fans of clubs who did get there this season
  3. I don't think he's going to lose his job unless we end up in the play off spot. You're maybe right there - some fresh ideas. Next week is going to be a massive game for us obviously.
  4. There are other English clubs who loaned to us over the last few seasons - including this one. I don't think any club has to send us more than one player just because they've loaned to us previously. There will be lots of variables as to why we get a player on loan at any specific time. We gave Mika a platform - he played well for us and then he moved on - it's quite clear that he was an exceptional talent. A quick Google search shows an article where Mika was praising Kettlewell and saying that he had given him confidence to score goals and various other articles where Kettlewell was praising the player. Mika didn't really need that much development - what he needed was game time which he got with us. Arsenal also actually don't have that many players out on loan at the moment - 8. If it all comes down to HOOFBALL - players have been sent to us on loan during other managers tenure - and some fans weren't happy with those other managers style of play either.
  5. Looks like a good signing - I certainly don't think someone having an injury means they are injury prone - it's the nature of the game. Hopefully he will join sooner rather than later
  6. I think Casey has his critics too - and I think SOD gets a disproportionate amount of criticism compared to some other players - even when he's playing well
  7. Absolutely - being fan owned is obviously a reason why we operate under certain conditions (not suggesting that it's a bad thing). Dundee ran up almost a 3 million pound loss to get promoted - maintaining wages when turnover dropped. The only concern I have right now is with the injury list (believe it's 9 now) and how we maintain our league position given these issues. Right now it would be good to have a safety net but we'll just need to see how the transfer window pans out.
  8. I made a comment about us competing in a market where other teams could offer better terms. That's all I said. I used the example of Van Veen -(note to self completely wrong example) absolutely we made the right decision not to sign him at that point. I'm aware of our league position but the reality is is that if Killie can offer 20 per cent more than us in wages as someone else suggested - even if that translated to 1k or 2k a week we are going to lose out on players we want to other clubs of a similar size. That's just reality and obviously it is swings and roundabouts as well - we operate in the loan market and try and develop young players. It's completely fine to disagree and have opinions surely without people having to be proved wrong for expressing them.
  9. All club expenses - including paying off of former managers, bonuses for getting into Europe and match day staff I believe.
  10. I would say yes. Bring him home
  11. I like Dan Casey and I'll be sorry if he goes Also asked someone I know who knows transfer stuff before I do and he dismissed it as nonsense
  12. I don't agree. Not to do with the crowds. To do with the budget and what we can afford to spend on players. Just because they have slightly bigger crowds doesn't mean we have similar budgets to spend on players - both Killie and St Mirren priced us out of going for KVV - Killie had over a thousand fans more than us over last season - but I don't think crowds translate to budgets - they both offered twice what we did for KVV - if you have someone prepared to pay from their own pocket to sign a striker like Killie did with Kev the fact that we have similar crowds is irrelevant
  13. I agree with you that we have a squad as good as any other in the league but we've also been battered by injuries. It can't help when you can't play a consistent team - I also get that we aren't the only club in this position but - someone can correct me if I'm wrong - we've probably played quite defensively for some time now, although looking at our placing in the table last year we scored a decent amount of goals and let in almost as many. I think part of the issue is that we didn't replace Spittal effectively although I completely get that you aren't just going to get a like for like player. Bair moved on and we don't yet have a consistent goal scorer. We've had important players out too as I'm sure you don't need me to tell you. Miller. McGinn. Slattery. Gordon. Now Ox. As a self confessed "happy clapper" of course I want to see my team do well - I personally think we should be challenging for top 6 - but I'll stand by saying I think survival is the most important thing I don't want to see us in free fall either - but hopefully if we get a couple of good signings in the transfer window it might stop the decline. It doesn't help that we are competing in a market with teams who can offer better terms
  14. Yes. Welcome back the very lovely Callum Slattery!!!
  15. We do need a cash injection. That's clear.
  16. I personally don't think this is all on Kettlewell - do you think he doesn't want us to win games?
  17. Do you honestly think if Seddon was in a position where he might pass the ball to someone who might see a scoring opportunity that he's going to stop and go - hold on I can't do that because my manager told me not to. I saw someone on Facebook at the weekend saying that Kettlewell was screaming at his players to play the ball forward
  18. Just introductory (I'm joking). Great post. I do understand people's frustrations but I think our management and players get too much undue criticism at times.
  19. I think some people (I'm talking about social media in general) - not the person I was responding to haven't got over the fact that he wasn't sacked after the 15 game winless run. (They are entitled to that viewpoint). Folk are also completely entitled to have a view on anything to do with the manager and the way we play - but it wouldn't matter what he does for some fans - they don't like him, rate him and want him out. I think it's quite astonishing that he's being referred to as semi competent given that we are 5th in the league - and given the injuries we've had to contend with lately. St Mirren fans probably aren't very happy right now - and I don't blame them but I don't think they are shouting for Robbo to go We also don't have the budget of some of the clubs who are below us in the table just now.
  20. I think it should be pretty obvious why I go to games - because I support Motherwell.
  21. I'm personally happy with the points. And I said the same under other managers. Of course I would like to see us play better football - but survival is the main thing as far as I'm concerned.
  22. I don't agree re Kettlewell but that's fine. I think stick is ok to a point - but it went over the score with Alexander in my view. Someone grabbing the mic when he was being interviewed to give him abuse. No need
  23. Of course you are entitled to your opinion. I was also delighted to see Slattery back and scoring. I just think it's a bit knee jerk the Kettlewell out opinion - and I'm personally sick of it - not aiming that at you btw. All over facebook. Some folk on here. Let's get rid of him then and see who else could do a better job. Robbo got the same treatment towards the end Alexander got it too. No one is good enough for the well in some peoples eyes
  24. Im sorry but this is absurd. We can't afford to be paying yet another manager off. He's kept us in the spl since he was appointed and we are top six but he's to go. Thankfully you won't be making that decision
