Well to be fair he's surely got the right to state his position given some of the stuff that was being said. The same way anyone else would want to. He's getting the blame (on twitter as well) for valuing the club at 4 million pounds when it was apparently the the club that did it. Some fans were also personally attacking him and name calling him on P and B. As for divided fans. Fans are always going to be divided over lots of issues. I'm not going to necessarily agree with someone just because I support Motherwell and them with me. If there's divisions, they've been there for a while I think. I do understand the point you are making but the vote hasn't happened yet. The club has been badly run for a while on certain levels. I think this has just brought it all to the surface.
-
We are apparently looking at Kane Thompson-Sommers with three other clubs interested.
-
Oh I'm stupid am I? Good to know. Back on ignore you go.
-
But the Society have advised fans to reject so if the vote is no then what happens then? Where does the club go from here (just a general question. Not expecting you to know the answer).
-
We do need to give it a chance but I think that members should be kept in the loop by them. All it takes is one email to send to members saying we are still working on our plan to maximise revenue. I personally haven't put the society under pressure. There's been no expectation from me that they go out and raise a couple of million pounds. But we are the people paying in to the society. I also realise that this alternative plan will take time to put together. But if they are telling fans to vote no to this deal because they don't think it's right for Motherwell then surely people at the club, not just the Well Society, other people as well let fans know their future plans for the club or if we just continue operating the way we do just now.
-
What did they have to do with the Royal Bank of Scotland collapse?
-
I do think the society should post something on here if they have the time. Particularly in light of the comments made that the outside investment proposal was not supported by the Well Society board but not as strongly as in the statement they put out the other day. I also completely understand they are volunteers and busy.
-
Do you think it will? Their plan?
-
Understatement I think. And agree. I wonder if they were prevented legally or just not invited into the discussions or thought it was best not to be involved. Potentially because we are fan owned and they have the majority share they wanted to remain neutral. Who knows.
-
Thanks. I got out of hospital this morning and I got my essay in last night. Appreciated. BTW I actually agree with you that the society might have felt under pressure to bring something else to the table after the outside investment proposal when other people at the club have much more responsibility.
-
The article on the BBC website looks very much as if it's been lifted directly from communication from the well society.
-
An alternative plan to outside investment is how the BBC reported it in February. Anyway. It will be good to see what their plan is.
-
Was this in an email to members?
-
The well society said months ago they were looking to come up with an alternative proposal. I don't think anyone has transferred this responsibility onto them. They made a statement a few months ago saying they would come up with an alternative proposal. If they don't feel that's within their remit all they need to do surely is say this.
-
Not sure I'm best placed to answer that given that I'm just a well society member and don't have the first clue what their proposal is going to be.
-
Agree. The society maybe felt they had to come up with an alternative proposal so it will be interesting to see what it is.
-
I personally have my doubts.
-
I've never personally thought of the investment situation as a fairy godmother coming in to make Motherwell successful
-
Because of past history like you've just mentioned. I believe in them enough to be a member.
-
I am a well society member and have been for years. I just don't think it's enough to move us forward. Im not a fan who expects a top six finish and a cup run as a benchmark of success but other people do. How do they think we are going to achieve that going forward? I'll wait and see what the well society proposal is of course.
-
Absolutely this. Survival and growth. Stagnation isn't an option.
-
Of course. But we might not get any other offers which is why the well society have to think about how we raise extra funds. Some fans are happy with the way we operate just now and that's ok. But some of the same fans aren't happy that we finish 8th or 9th. We can just carry on as we are. But at some point some fans might start asking why we turned down investment - because 2 million quid is better than what we've been offered to date - nothing. That doesn't mean I support the bid but I can understand why fans want something to change.
-
I've seen comments about how folk have never seen Motherwell fans so divided. I don't think there's anything wrong with different opinions. I'm not going to share someone's opinion on investment just because I support Motherwell and they do as well. Some fans think the current way of working is ok and others don't. That's ok as far as I'm concerned.

I've been a member for six years and I don't pay that much in because I don't have lots of cash spare. I'm a bit uncomfortable with some of the stuff I've seen lately on twitter. The well society board have every right not to want outside investment but some of them were on twitter telling people to vote no before details had been made public. Months ago. Fan ownership is great but the well society have been practically invisible for too long. That's my view. I basically think the well society have been too anonymous for too long and that's very likely not their fault if others at the club didn't back them - but it's not good either.
