I think Kelly for all his faults has done a decent job over the piece for us. More than decent
-
I think keepers are the last players to get dropped when their form drops. Carson didn't get dropped by Dundee after they lost a few games on the bounce. And to be honest there are other players I think Kettlewell could also have dropped but he hasn't. His call clearly
-
It's my opinion. My opinion that I have a right to in my view. The same way you have yours. I personally think that the people on here who support Kettlewell get their posts automatically written off. This isn't a dig at you. That's just how I feel right now. Not an argument. I actually said a few days ago on here I thought that Kelly should be rested for his own sake. But it's Kettlewells call. I also don't think the fact that Kelly is first pick necessarily means there's anything wrong with the relationship he has with Aston.
-
With you on that one.
-
That's reality. I remember being at the game when Carson got injured and then Gillespie got his chance. Pretty sure goalies know that when they sign that it can be hard to displace the main keeper. Plenty of clubs have goalies sitting on the bench. Not just Motherwell. You could also argue that it's not just Kelly underperforming just now given that we aren't bottom of the table. He's not fucked. If Kelly gets injured Aston will take his chance. What would happen if Aston went in goals and started letting goals in? Of course there's an argument for starting him but how many teams in the SPL put on their second choice keeper when their main keeper dips in form? Not many I suspect.

I completely agree. I actually don't think the squad is that bad. But it's clear that confidence has dipped. It's been visible since the games in September we took nothing from. I'm far from Liam Kelly's biggest fan but it's clear he's lost confidence. The midfield lost confidence as well towards the end of last year I think both Slattery and Spittal started really strongly and then dipped - I'm a huge fan of both players. Then we lost Mika. I dont think the revolving door of managers would help our club in the slightest at the minute. Apparently there's someone that some other posters would want to see at the club - I have no idea who that is but who is to say they would get better results than Kettlewell

Im not sure we were punching above our weight to be honest. I do agree with the sentiment that there's no point in breaking the bank to end up a couple of places higher in the SPL but surely we should be aiming for higher than just above relegation. I think it's a self belief thing as much as anything else. When Alexander took over in the beginning you could see the difference in confidence. Same with Kettlewell - we just seem to hit these slumps in form and lose confidence- and it's been like that for as long as I've been watching bar a few seasons. Personally. I just want a season where I'm not sitting watching away games on twitter watching from behind my hands - because my nerves can't stand it. I completely agree that it's an unequal league and I think that sometimes gets forgotten. We are supposed to be able to compete with teams like Celtic on our budget - and that isn't me saying we should just turn up and roll over either.

Personally I think SOD gets far too much stick and that he's a very easy target. I think Mugabe is very hit and miss. SOD seems to get far more stick though in my view
-
Yeah. Of course he deserves credit. They were on a very decent run when they beat us. I didn't think for a minute we were just going to turn up and win. Just a sore one really.
-
I'll back Kettlewell to the end.
-
I'm sure he is but I'm a Motherwell fan. I don't care about him. That's not me being disrespectful to your post. I have zero interest in Imrie
-
It is. Dont think it's just as simple as dropping Kelly. Not an easy decision for Kettlewell.
-
I personally think on his day he's better than average. No doubt that he's having a confidence crisis at the moment though.
-
Just going to clarify that I wasn't trying to diminish anyone else's experience. I first went to see Motherwell in 1979 and regularly since 1987. But I stand by it. We move on. Nothing else we can do. I completely understand if people are close to throwing in the towel. I get it. I'm poor and I sacrifice other things to go and watch my team. We all have to do what's right for ourselves.
-
I actually personally thought that the entire teams confidence went in the bin after the Celtic defeat last September but that Kelly had picked up after that. I'm sad to see it because I don't think he's a bad keeper.
-
I think Kettlewell is a genuinely nice guy and to be honest as much as Kelly is not my favourite player I'm actually really sorry he's having this crisis of confidence. He's not a bad keeper in my view but maybe a rest for a couple of games will do him good. Maybe Kettlewell has had faith in players who haven't been performing for the best reasons. But we need to stay up so maybe changes have to be made

I'm really loving the fact that you've just called me young given that I'll I was born in 1969... Just typed that rather than say what age ill be on Tuesday 😂. In my defence it's also my wee brothers birthday next week and he's ten years younger than me so if he's a kid so am I!!! (That's my defence and Im sticking to it). Hes way more sensible than me though. He didn't break his shoulder at a Jesus and Mary chain gig and then break his nose at a Depeche mode one . (He sent me a text saying I shouldn't be let out on my own. His exact words were ... You're not safe to be let out). It is sods law though that I finally get a student discount on my season and we are struggling. Onwards and upwards though. Irrespective of how we are doing at the moment we've done Ok for a provincial club when many others have been relegated. By the skin of our teeth more than once but all we can do is keep believing. I lost a close relative in tragic circumstances six months before we won the cup in 1991. That cup run got my family through the worst times. I'm sure other people have similar stories to tell. I hope we kick on.

The thing is though surely. Van Veen is experienced in the SPL and a more experienced footballer at this level given his age. Whether Kettlewell got it right or wrong hes surely had reasons for easing the new players in whereas I assume part of the reason Van veen is getting game time is to sharpen up his match fitness and because they are paying so much for him - there would be questions asked about leaving someone on his salary on the bench given all the fanfare around his signing.
-
SOD is six foot, he's got the height surely?
-
Of course people are entitled to their opinion but honestly. The he's shite Kettlewell is shite everything is shite wears you down after a while. If I genuinely felt that way about Motherwell I wouldn't support Motherwell. A minority seem to get off on the fact that we are struggling just now . And this isn't being levelled at anyone in particular. But it's horrible posting on here at times. Because that minority seem to have the biggest voice on here a lot of the time.... And that isn't to say that people can't have an opinion. But what is the point of constantly saying Motherwell and Kettlewell are shite. Seriously. We wonder why players lose confidence

I've been going to games since 1987. I'm not a die hard in my view simply because I've had too many times in my life when I've been too poor to buy a season ticket. Or even to pay cash at the gate. I don't go to away games for the same reason. I can't afford it. But every time I've had money to buy a season I buy one. By the way I don't judge any fan who can't afford to go to games. I've been that person. However. If I was going to throw Motherwell FC into the bin for not performing well I'd have sacked them off a long time ago. That probably does colour my view on things but that's the way it is. I was not a fan of the Hammell appointment but I was not shouting for his head on social media and I'll back Kettlewell to the end. And it's ok if other people don't feel the same way. I just think it's got way too negative lately. I think Alexander was hounded out and I don't want that to happen to another manager.

I've just spent the last five hours writing an essay... It's due Tuesday. Which is my birthday so I need to try and crack on and get it submitted on Monday. Had to ask for an extension due to this broken nose. Also ... I honestly don't have an ignore list . I'm sure people piss me off and I piss other people off but as someone said the other day we are all on the same side
-
You're not
-
I'm just going to say this quite plainly. You wrote every new signing we had off on another thread. Before they had even kicked a ball. You also suggested that Bair wasn't good enough. As for your digs that Kettlewell isn't good enough and a baboon would be better this is the same Kettlewell who saved us last season. I have no time and I mean none for people who want to boot the team when they are on a bad run and I have even less time for people who do nothing but make snide digs at the manager and other posters on here. You are completely entitled to your opinion by the way. I just don't need to agree with it.

As hard as this is. We need to move on. I'm not having a go at you here but we never do things the easy way do we.
