  1. I also think Callum Slattery is an amazing footballer and I am really happy that he got the first goal.
  2. Very happy? I’m over the moon. My brother who is one of the most positive people when it comes to Motherwell is scunnered and I get it. The football is awful at times. But look at the post match interview Alexander gave. Don’t tell me that isn’t someone who cares about Motherwell and football because he clearly does. For context I’ve been going to Fir park since 1987 and Alexander is my favourite manager and I will stand by that. And I speak as someone who cried when Robbo left
  3. I don’t go to away games these days, I’m maybe in the minority but I hope Alexander stays. As someone else said we were in free fall before he took over. It would be ridiculous to sack him just now. Top six even if it’s by the skin of our teeth. I was watching the scores online and when county scored I thought that was it but even if we did play rubbish football today in previous seasons if we had gone 2-1 down I think we would have struggled to get the equaliser . Of course people want to watch entertaining football but it’s results that matter and hopefully next season we will be playing like Brazil , (joking, hopefully next season things will gel a lot better). We never do things the easy way but that’s Motherwell (and we also lost Watt although he hasn’t exactly been banging the goals in for Utd). Sorry that Lamie is leaving.
  4. I personally think Stephen ODonnell gets far too much criticism. Way too much. I thought he had a solid game today. I also really like Graham Alexander on so many levels. He praises his players when they deserve it. The thing that struck me today was the backing the fans gave the players. At one point the whole of the east stand was on their feet clapping the players and that was when we were at 2-2. For me the one thing I was happy about today was the win so that people would give Alexander a break. For context I’ve been going to fir park since 1987 and I don’t think he’s a poor manager. Also. If you go on twitter tonight you will see their fans calling for Robbos head. Yes Alexander has made mistakes but 3 points next week and we are top six. That will do me. The fans were phenomenal today and they really should be applauded for that. I’ve not seen support like that for the team in a long time. The whole stand was on its feet clapping the team and that’s the way to get behind them. Particularly when we’ve been struggling lately.
  5. You must have been at a different game from me if you think we troubled Hearts goal once in the second half.
  6. I’ve been bullied in more than one job. The last one I raised concerns 3 times, as did colleagues who were also being bullied. Nothing changed. I left. I raised issues that I did not feel able to when I was there the week after I left. Not years later. I understand that given the age of the lad involved and the stuff going on at home for him at the time if he had concerns he might have felt unable to raise them then. But to wait until a significant time has passed and then voice them on twitter? That’s not the way to do it. It’s past history. It has nothing to do with Motherwell F.C. and it was done on a platform that gives Robinson no right of reply. He could have contacted the club privately. He doesn’t deserve any twitter abuse from anyone connected with this club. But he shouldn’t have done this to Robinson in this way. Nothing to do with mfc in my view. A twitter witch hunt as far as I’m concerned and totally inappropriate given the subject of the video. I’ve lost someone to suicide and the message has to get out there.
  7. I have a mate who was from Palestine and would be killed on sight if he went back. I dont like celtic as a football club, but good for them for doing their bit for Palestine. Someone needs to.
  8. Totallly agree with you. Ive been going to fir park for a long time, almost 3 decades and this is the best season we have had in a good few years.
  9. I dont think theres anything wrong with Celtic fans supporting Palestine. Particuarly with the events of the last few days. Good for them.
  10. Get a grip. We were battling relegation last season. Two finals in one season isnt good enough for you? Ive stood on the fir park terraces and watched us get pumped by the likes of Morton and Raith Rovers. Two cup finals in one season isnt good enough for you? What will be?
  11. Surprised that a report went to the PF if he wasn't actually charged with assault. Fiscals normally make the decision to prosecute, drop a case or consider alternatives to a matter going to court after the police have investigated and made the decision whether to charge someone or not. Which would involve taking statements from people who witnessed the alleged incident and could take days or weeks. Police can obviously return and charge someone at a later date after they have been arrested but still think it's strange that he was released without charge yet a report went to the PF a matter of hours after he was arrested. Not sure that that's normal procedure at all. And quite a lot of stress for someone to go through if they havent actually been charged with a crime because it can take months for a PF to make a decision. Well done to him for the award, all the press I read in the run up thought that it was going to be Leigh Griffiths. As for the incident itself, hopefully things will be sorted out sooner or later and he and the club can move on from it.
  12. I read about the Bradford scheme last year, posted on FPC that I thought it would be a good idea and I still do, Motherwell needs something like this, particularly in this economic climate.

    Pies

I prefer the macaroni pies but agreed, too expensive.
  14. The rest of the clubs statement on that is just what you would expect, flannel. Covers all bases without saying very much at all. On the one had you repeatedly ask someone to sign a contract, I'm presuming over the duration of his tenure as Motherwell manager, not in a very short space of time, on the other hand relationships are deteriorating? Well they must have deteriorated pretty quickly because why would you want to keep someone on long term who didn't get on with the players and directors?

    New Manager

I knew he was working without a contract, it had been mentioned elsewhere on the boards at times, my point is I think Boyle is being naive if he thinks people are going to believe that that's the reason Gannon has gone. As for the appointment not working out, I think Gannon was hardly given a chance for it to work out. We're 6th, not bottom. I could understand the sacking a bit better if we were sitting 11th and had a manager not getting on with fans, players, the media etc. I think it's been a hasty decision. We are managerless, we are just approaching the transfer window. We went 7 games without a win this time last year when McGhee was in charge. I think we have very short memories at times.
  16. I've not changed my tune, I think sacking Gannon is a ridiculous decision, terrible timing and if there were other reasons behind the manager's dismissal, then we should be told. Giving someone the bullet for not having a contract when you've allowed them to work without a contract for months, well I hope Boyle realises how stupid that sounds. Gannon seemed like he knew his own mind, if Boyle just wants a puppet then maybe he'll bear that in mind with the next appointment he makes.

    New Manager

Agree. He allows a manager to work for over 4 months without a contract and then uses that as the reason to dismiss him. If there were other reasons I think fans should be told. I hope this decision doesn't come back and hit Motherwell fc squarely on the arse. Which I'm afraid I think it might, I hope I'm wrong on that one.
  18. I thought Gannon was a breath of fresh air that Motherwell needed badly. I'll be sorry to see him go. As for the issue with the refusal to sign a contract, I find it odd that you appoint someone to a managerial post without a contract and then sack them 4 months later for not signing one. If Gannon is at fault for not signing a contract, the Motherwell chairman and directors are also at fault for not insisting that a formal contract wasn't in place at the time of signing him. I wish him well for the future.
  19. Well considering the Press can't generally get our players names right, Jim not speaking to them isn't causing me any concern given the usual standard of reporting from some of the tabloids.
  20. I had a message saying my MST subscription had been cancelled. I didn't cancel it, I'm assuming that it's been a year since I joined and I need to renew the membership. I'm asking because in the time I joined I only had one email from the Trust and I'm not sure exactly when my membership expired.
  21. So managers have to sit back and say nothing, because there's no point anywaty and don't upset the weegie media or else there will be trouble? When do certain sections of the media have anything positive/accurate to say about Motherwell anyway? I'd rather have someone like Gannon who wasn't afraid to ask questions, if a few cages get rattled in the meantime so what? Managers should have the right to ask questions and get answers, it's ludicrous that they don't. As for it affecting the team it's not exactly rocket science that we've gone some time without a win, press speculation about Motherwell is not exactly new, to say that Gannon should shut up just in case some press might write a few stories about us, well that may be your view. mine would be that they'll be written regardless.
  22. I think Gannon would get into more bother if he tried to approach Dallas unofficially. The point is referees are or should be accountable for their decisions yet criticise one, managers may end up being fined. I'm with Gannon, if there's a backlash then it just shows how unfair the system has become and well done for putting the statement out through official channels rather than the press.
  23. People are allowed their opinion, the same way you are allowed yours. In the scheme of things giving 30 season tickets away for nothing is no big deal considering the amount of empty seats but it's good PR for the club and obviously that is why they have done it. People who sign up do so knowing the risks, they also get paid for the job they do. If someone who was home on leave wanted to go and watch Motherwell there is nothing to stop them doing so. Plus as has already been said there are other sections of the community who do risky jobs every day in life, why not give them free season tickets as well? The reaction on the first thread about this was mixed, it's not just the 3 ignorant fools as you call them who had concerns about it. There are plenty people out there who can't afford to go and see Motherwell week in week out, why don't the club throw a few season tickets in their direction. They won't though because it doesn't have the sympathetic slant to it as giving people tickets who are serving soldiers. I also hardly think the club are going to be put off making gestures because a few people have said how they feel on a fans messageboard.
  24. Why is it playing games? I don't think there's anything in the slightest disrespectful or controversial in Gannon's comments, he's simply being honest. How do any of us know that he hasn't already had conversations with players to that effect? Is he supposed to say when asked, no I'm keeping every single player on the books, even the ones who are getting paid handsomely to sit in the stands every week incase I offend them or any Motherwell supporters who might get a bit outraged at my comments. To me it sends a clear message, if you aren't performing give yourself a boot up the arse if you want to stay here. If people respect that they will either do exactly that, or stick out the petted lip and be unhappy. It's a bosses job to make tough decisions and as for the media, it's not the first time in MFC's history that a manager has come out and said similar so why Gannon is getting flak for it I do not know. As for respect, only Gannon and the players themselves truly know the respect they have or haven't for one another.
