  1. What weepy gush most of you are spouting...get a grip
  2. For what it's worth, I think this is a great opportunity to start a fresh at the club. Now is not the time to rush a decision. Not only should we be looking for candidates, I would also be spending the next couple of weeks carrying out an internal review/audit. We need to work towards implementing a new structure throughout the club as both on and off the park we are in desperate need of it. Of course this process takes longer than two weeks, however we should begin by mapping out how we need the club to progress from the youth levels right up - cresting a value chain which will see youngsters turned into sellable assets. Imo we need to find a candidate not from the "old boys" but someone with fresh ideas both managerially and in a footballing sense to make sure we create the right environment to nature e talent we need to not only perform in the spl but also create revenue. It is a mammoth challenge of course and maybe we should be thinking outside of the box with the view of creating a more integrated strcture to the club and secure not only success but also its future.
  3. The word omnishambles has never been so pertinent. Motherwell Football Club is an absolute joke from top to bottom at the moment.
  4. I can only add to my earlier post on this thread an echo what others are saying. We have consistently finished second/ third over the previous couple of seasons and had one run to the Scottish Cup final yet time after time we post losses - is there no-one at the club able to do simple arithmetic? Surely we have the ability to project gate receipts over a season, calculate league revenue on the lowest possible finish which will see us stay in the SPL, a progression in each cup to the quarter finals and project revenue for other things such as hospitality, club shop takings and sponsorship over the course of 1 or 2 years? You take this big Number, boys and girls of Motherwell Football Club and take away your total playing salaries (based on your minimum requirement league finish) and running costs and do you know what....? If it comes out with a big negative sign, you go back and re-evaluate where to increase revenue or decrease cost, until you get a positive number... If you manage to sell a player, finish higher in the league or go further in the cups, great.... more pocket money. Honestly, this is Standard Grade business and arithmetic which we seem absolutely unable to work out???! Someone really needs to be shown the door... Brutal
  5. No, I was simply using the name to illustrate the point.I would however fully stand behind the idea of seeking business consultancy for the club and its assets.
  6. I have not and will never give a penny to the well society. As a business model it is fucking atrocious and this is coming home to roost. The fact of the matter is that we have a tiny home support in a less than affluent area and yet deemed it fit to set community ownership up at a time of economic crises - I mean somebody/some group should be taken out and shot; but that's by the by as they say. What we are now facing is a pleading letter asking for more cash...Did no one at the club draw up contingency plans at the time this was set up? Any healthy business / business consultant will tell you that relying on one cash line in what is effectively a new business venture is fucking suicide - especially one which has no binding contracts of cash injection points from suppliers. As much as it pains me to say this, we are a total fucking joke from top to bottom. We have a youth system which doesn't produce saleable assets which the club requires for revenue, a first time and cup performances which doesn't generate revenue, a stadium infrastructure/ pricing/ product which drives away fans and revenue. We have no figureheads, apparently not an ounce of business acumen and see fit to consistently beg the people who already give the most. We are really rooked. Someone really should be making a phone call to KPMG, Deloitte or a company of that ilk - we really need a fine tooth comb analysis of EVERY detail of the club, total restructuring with people from all aspects f the club shown the door and others brought in. If there is a buyer out there, then perhaps they are more likely to see that than the club in its current state and take appropriate action.
  7. All I hope is that by the time Friday comes, McCall will no longer be at Motherwell Football Club. Any form of sanity would see the lineup pick itself imo. Nielsen (twardziks kicking and cross ball control are utter shite) Ramsden ( we don't have anyone else) Obrien Kerr (see ramsden) Hammell ------ Reid -------------Carswell Ainsworth--vigurs ( in his actual position)--Ojamma ---------—------------Erwin ( Sutton is a passenger) 1-1 Hopefully Law and McHugh will be left at home. Leitch in midfield should we need fresh legs. Thomas should we need anyone new on the wings.
  8. A blind man and his dog can tell you that Kerr and angol were dramatically out of position ( probably out of their depth), Law is absolutely rotten, Sutton continues to offer the square root of 0, Mchugh is past even talking about and Lasley and McManus have had about the worst start to a season they probably have ever had. The eejit that is Stuart McCall however seems completely oblivious to all this and our witless attacking - content to leave Ainsworth who was our biggest threat on the bench last night - by bringing on the sub everyone was screaming for with only 4 minutes to go. I've tried to go through the waste of managerial space that McCall, logically, for 3 years... I'm past it. McCall out and anybody with an iota of tactics in. Rotten.
  9. Utter dross. We have no link up, no fluidity and no pace whatsoever. Shite does not begin to suggest how bad this is.
  10. There is a lot to be said for a physical presence behind a defence.
  11. First of all, I totally agree that we need to switch to 4231. McCall for some unknown reason insists on playing with Vigurs wide left when quite frankly he will never be a left winger - his attributes do not lend themselves whatsoever. We need to become more compact at the back (which I mentioned in the Aberdeen match thread), therefore I would be looking to go for... Ramsden---------McManus-----O'Brien---------Hammel ----------------------Reid----------Carswell/Lasley---- In my opinion (until we get a bit of confidence back in the side), we need to make ourselves compact and difficult to beat/brake-down and I would hope such a formation would allow that. Secondly however, where I disagree with you slightly) is that I would make our forward play all about breaking at pace... So, for the next few games, I would be looking at -----Ainsworth-------Vigurs-----------Ojamaa --------------------------Erwin----------------- Vigurs has very little pace however he he the ability to link the play and with Ainsworth and Ojamaa having the pace to get in behind, that could be vital. For a couple of matches, I would also go with Erwin. I understand that Sutton is out top goalscorer however we need someone that can burst up the park which is why I saw Erwin. Stay compact, but at the end of the day, we are playing in the SPL - no defence is great - which is why we should always look to carry a threat.
  12. -------------------------------Nielsen--------------------------- Ramsden---------McManus--------O'Brien------------Hammell ------------------------Reid--------------Carswell----------------------- Ainsworth-------------------Vigurs---------------------Ojamaa ----------------------------------Erwin------------------------------- It is the point I was trying to make. We need to shore up as we have been horrendous at giving away space - sitting two players in front of the back 4 should allow us to be more compact, but with the front 4 having so much pace, it would allow us to counter attack with balls down the wing whilst playing Vigurs through the middle will bring him into our play more and connect back to front.
  13. -------------------------------Nielsen--------------------------------- Ramsden---------McManus--------O'Brien------------Hammell ------------------------Reid--------------Carswell----------------------- Ainsworth-------------------Vigurs---------------------Ojamaa ----------------------------------Erwin------------------------------- Subs: Twardzik Kerr Francis-Angol Lasley Leitch Sutton Thomas 0-0
  14. The difference between last season and this is, in my opinion, desire. Let's face it, we were rank rotten in large chunks of last season yet we had a couple of flare players who were able to dig us out of a hole and a few players who played for the jersey. Whether they were both on form or having good games was not always the issue, Hutchinson and McFadden in my mind had Motherwell fc at heart when they pulled on the jersey and there is absilutely no doubt that feeling permeated to other members of the team - they were leaders. McCall was as tactically inept then as he is now and always has been however the difference now is the squad isn't able to lead itself as perhaps it once was. Looking at things now, I would be tempted to go as far as say the smoke and mirrors who McCalls leadership skills or lack thereof are now gone and now we are seeing the results. We are rudderless. There are quite frankly too many holes which we could pick in different areas to suggest that his position is in any way tenable. From his quite frankly bizarre signing policies, be it in terms of age, positions etc. there have been some head scratchers. We claim to have no budget yet under McCalls tenure we have seen players like McHugh offered a long term deal and Law and Lawson brought in - whether or not they are on big money is beside the issue. As far as I'm concerned, if we are willing to plead poverty in public then the shop should be water tight in terms of the playing squad - it isn't. The lack of youth brought into the fold is startling. Certainly this is not only McCalls issue however I maintain a manager with any form of vision should be able to integrate a couple of bright stars (or at least spot something in them) bring them into the fold and nurture them at a higher level - some young players will rise to the challenge yet we have hardly seen any given the chance. Tactically, the less said the better. We are dated in our style of play and lets be honest at the most basic level, his substitution policies for years have baffled the shite out of everybody. His media presence is appalling. It has to be some of the most grim, repeated nonsense since Jim Jeffries. Quite how he inspires a team is beyond me, I've now taken to turning off the radio or tv when he appears. There is a distinct lack of passion, dynamism or anything resembling spirit in anything he says to the fans - which I also maintain is contributing amongst other factors to our dwindling support. The squad fitness is appalling. I know people seem content to say Black takes the training however to be honest I could care less. A good manager would have either booted the players up arse or black up the arse after watching us against Starjnan and nothing has improved. The buck stops with McCall, he should be controlling his staff. I've been one of the complainers about McCall on here for years and I'm now feeling I'm being proved correct. I don't even feel smug about that, the situation is far too bleak for anyone to feel smug. Action must be taken.
  15. -------------------Nielsen (I still maintain twardziks stature would make a defence nervous) --ramsden----McManus----obrien------hammell -----------------------------lasley------------------- Ainsworth-------leitch--------vigurs--------Ojamaa ----------------------------Sutton----------------------- Subs TwardzikReidLawsonCarswellErwinFrancis angolThomas Get law and mchugh as far away from that team as possible (convinced having these people in a small squad drags it down). 2-1 Motherwell
  16. Is it just me that is totally baffled by McCalls admission that he only starts working toward the game on a Thursday with the players, ie. Formations tactics etc?It smacks of e lack of organisation, awareness and nervousness we seem to be enduring week after week. Surely in 3 bloody years a manager should have by now worked out a style, system etc (albeit with minor variations depending on the match) which players should be working within / brought in to fit into. It smacks of poor management structuring.
  17. Can only echo what others have said and add that I think time,is up for McCall. There is a severe lack of dig in the side, which referring to earlier discussion of Hutchison is what I think we are missing most in him. He was the guy who went in where it hurts and that inspires others in the team to do the same - that is now gone and that element from our play disappeared. I've said it since about McCalls second month that he is tactically inept, however we have been fortunate to have fit squads and high quality players which have carried us - this is no longer he case and there will be major long term ramifications on the future of the club regarding this ie youth policy which we have often spoken about. I cannot even be bothered to justify this as I've don't it in other threads and I'm now beyond the energy to type it out again quite frankly. Personnel totally baffling. Quite how Law is even in the squad is beyond me. Brutal. Kerr is a squad player at best, Francis Angol offers the square root of nothing, carswell has lost early potential, lawson is eternally injured, mchugh (don't even go there). We are carrying too many passengers / sub-standard players which is not good, especially in a small squad, to ensure everyone drives forward and has the motivation to do so. Grim.
  18. ------------------------twardzik---------------------- Ramsden-- McManus--------obrien------hammell -----------------------lasley-------------------------- Ainsworth-----------Leitch----------vigurs ---------Sutton ------------ Ojamaa Glaringly obvious in my opinion but it is unlikely. More likely Kerr at left wing and Erwin at full back
  19. Kmac

    Josh Law Vs Faddy

I totally agree with oniels40...I think that smacks of McCall though - he is tactically inept. We are so heavy on players in cm for example yet for 2 years he has consistently failed to adress a weakness wide left has shunted players like McFadden, Erwin , Ojamaa or vigurs- when quite clearly he didn't have squad balance right. He incapable of adapting
  20. What was the reason for all the absentees yesterday? Are we just so horrendously unfit less than 10 games into a season or are the players not being trained correctly in terms of mobility that half a team goes AWOL after one match on synthetic?
  21. Undoubtedly,, Kerr at right wing and leitch at full back... McHugh... Brutal
  22. ----------------------------------------Twardzik-------------------------- Ramsden-------------Mcmanus----------------------O'Brien-----------------ZFA -------------------------------------------Reid--------------------------------------------- ------Ainsworth-------------------Lasley--------------------------Vigurs-------------- ----------------------------Sutton---------------Ojamaa----------------------- Subs: Neilsen Kerr Lawson Leitch Law Erwin Must win IMO. 2-1 'Well with that Line-up.
  23. Less than likely to happen, but would have to go with: -------------------------------------Nielsen-------------------------------------------- Ramsden-----------O'Brien------------------Mcmanus----------------ZFA---- -----------------------------------Lasley-------------------------------------------- -----Ainsworth-------------Leitch----------------Vigurs-------------- -------------------Sutton---------------Ojamaa------------------------- I would say that team should comfortably collect 3 points
  24. I am sure that I am not the only one who has been perturbed by all of the information coming out of late. The poor form has thrown up a lot of issues regarding training regimes, demands on players, signing policies etc. Off the park things seem to be equally as under developed. We have a real lack of structure / practical views on the continuing success of the "business", which the turning over of boxes would appear to be another example. The wallpaper used to piece over cracks would appear to coming away...
  25. Is it? We finished twice and yet the crowds decrease and the remaining support are in a malaise. We need to give people something that they can believe in a bit. That might sound a bit grandiose but take even Dundee UTD. They have played a bunch of boys in a typically non-SPL type style and the crowds increase. They also talk themselves up, create a bit of a stir - sometimes p*ssing others off in the process - and their crowds go up. Think about Mourinho and how he works, he creates a stir which can galvanize people as they all feel they are standing behind a cause. It gets people going... We do none of these things.
