Has the official line up been announced yet ?
-
I'm looking forward to listening to the commentary tomorrow for what should be a good game between two in form teams. The fact my own team rarely play at 3 p.m. on a Saturday does have some compensations. If you're travelling up to Dundee, enjoy it and bring back a point or three
-
Nothing wrong with encouraging folk to make it a night of it. It's dirt cheap, the perfect time to take advantage. I'd have a bash to see what it's like.
-
But if you go all season undefeated, you probably will. Glass half full

Bargain prices. Great for those who might want to treat somebody for a birthday or anniversary around the time. Come on Steelmen, make it a special evening for the Steelburd/Steelwife, or perhaps even another Steelman, if that's your thing.

Totally agree. I love winter football under the floodlights

In carluke murray's 'next three games' thread I went for six points for Motherwell, though nothing at Tannadice, so I suppose I had better be consistent. Levein is putting together a side up there and it's a big challenge. If 'Well can maintain the level they produced in the Rangers game, they have evey chance, but I suppose I'm sceptical such a young team can play that well in back to back games. It's difficult making a prediction because all teams in the league outwith the Old Firm can beat any other on the day, so United to nick it 2-1 for me, a prediction due largely to home advantage. A performace like last Saturday's could easily prove me very wrong. Here's hoping.

So difficult to predict SPL results I find. Outwith the Old Firm anybody is capable of beating anybody; Accies yesterday, for example. It's even more difficult due to the Motherwell side being a brand new team composed largely of youngsters who will inevitably have their bad days. Dundee United is a tough fixture. They look strong and will be a match for anybody at Tannadice. A point there would be a great result. The home games look easier, particularly Falkirk, but who knows. If at the end of these three you are still unbeaten, huge plaudits will be due. If I had to take a punt, I would say six points from the three ( nothing at Tannadice ) but as usual I will probably be miles out

Well he certainly wasn't yesterday. About as impartial as Pat Crerand when commentating on a United game down here.
-
Where's Matt J ? Seem to remember him saying a while back that Gary was a Manchester United fan , but in Scotland his team is Motherwell. Like I said, seems a good bloke
-
He always comes across as a good bloke on the telly. When asked for a prediction he said "my heart says Motherwell, my head says Rangers". You can't ask for more than that; no doubt who he was rooting for. Very complimentary about the Motherwell performance.

Good point about tv money, but I wonder what the excuse of the clubs is down here when Sky's last football rights package cost them over a billion quid for English football ? It amazes me that the majority of EPL stadia are still full every week.
-
Anything that gets more folk through the turnstiles can only be a good thing at any club, but is it financially viable for clubs in the SPL to offer across the board price cuts, and would it work ? I've also heard stories that prices for the top divisions on the continent are much cheaper than we pay in Britain. Can someone who is clued up about the economics of the game enlighten us ?
-
And credit to the club for that

Was it Father's Advice, loyalist paramilitary ditty ? I believe they sing it to the same tune as Athenry. Edit - Probably worth pointing that out to the clowns complaining in the Rangers support who, as pointed out by Likely Lad, are crying because some 'Well fans used the dreaded 'H' word in their direction. Much worse than songs about terror groups, of course. . Which club's supporters have been hit by UEFA a couple of times due to fan singing ?
-
All sounds very harsh. Not a nice experience for anyone, least of all youngsters. I hope you and your pals take if up, if you know you've been treated unfairly.
-
I see where you're coming from, SD, fair comment. I've sometimes found myself forming a different view at a game than from highlights later on.
-
Don't you have pictures on your telly, big chap ? It's the same game, ye know
-
Lots of really good performances in the 'Well side today. During the match thread I picked out Coke, O'Brien and Yassin, and I would add Ruddy, particularly for his brilliant save from Bougherra at the end of the first half. In the end I went for Coke, whose composure and technicial ability were very good.
-
Perhaps some locals watching at home today will be inspired by that performance to get along next time and in future when the games aren't televised. Some good football to be had.
-
We mentioned that here as we watched. It looked deserted behind the goal there.
-
That's shocking, mate. The Rangers' fans behaviour is hardly a surprise, but the police ! Good to know they're doing their job so thoroughly.
-
Was a good save, it looked to be heading right in the corner. The height gave McGregor his chance.
-
If only, if only.......good save from the pen, but should have been the three points. Rangers were only the better side between 75 and 85 mins, the rest of the match Motherwell were more creative. The ole cheers in the second half were great; Rangers couldn't get the ball at one point. For such a new team the Motherwell youngsters look very comfortable together, and though missing a late penalty always takes the gloss off a result, it was a very good performance. Not only did I underestimate how far Motherwell have come so soon, I also overestimated Rangers who look a poor side. I was a bit surprised the pen was given, usually only the Old Firm get those so late on, but overall a good game to watch and amazing it finished 0-0. Many reasons for optimism.
