  1. Again that's the wife. She's a 'Well fan and wore me down over time so that I became interested, though I have to say she hasn't reciprocated this and takes no interest in my team. I guess all guys are just looking for an excuse to cram in more football
  2. Well, after a long delay it looks like I/we shall be able to finally get along to Fir Park. I have a long weekend off work, Mrs TL is going to see if she can swop her shift, and United are away at Wigan. If the worst comes to the worst, I will come up by myself and stay at the in-laws in Bellshill, though the wife is vital for translation purposes . I get in a muddle in Scotland on my own. So if anyone would like me to buy them a drink after the game, be in a local pub - Jack Daniels or somewhere - and it would be good to see you.
  3. I think you're right wee yin, the tragedy is compounded when somebody takes their own life because we know he/she was suffering terribly, and I suppose it's one of those things nobody could understand unless they've been there. It's terrible to think that anyone could be at such low point they feel death is their only escape. That level of anguish is something that, thankfully, only a very small minority experience. Very, very sad for him and his young family.
  4. Never seen so many police and stewards, pop. Nearly as many officials as fans
  5. Strange how some defenders seem to have an eye for an o.g. Perhaps it's because they are the type who get stuck in and enjoy a last ditch tackle, only to end up putting it in, I dunno. Terry Butcher has been mentioned, Richard Dunne has scored a fair few at City, and when I was a kid there was a 'defender' ( very loose description ) called Graeme Hogg at United who was something of an o.g. specialist.
  6. Learning technically is one part of the education of a player, and you're spot on, that requires intensive work on the training ground from being a youngster and receiving the correct coaching. But there are also tactical lessons to be learned: the way you are punished by good teams if you don't do the basics well. Good players need a good football brain. It's only by gaining experience against said good teams that players become aware of their tactical deficiencies; of the bad choices they are making on the pitch. A good manager ( and I think Gannon is good ) will work with his squad technically and tactically, though by the time a player is professional he should have the technical skills needed. I'm sure Gannon will ensure his players do learn from tonight.
  7. The language on there is a disgrace
  8. I'm gonna take a peek at an Aberdeen board. There will be some top quality rants
  9. Has to be Ruddy. Immense debut. This poll could end up looking like an election result in North Korea, 99% agreement
  10. Stick around, Boggy, it's been good chatting to you. Well done to your team tonight, very impressive.
  11. 'Well given something of a lesson against a team ranked 38 or so in Europe, which is an important point to remember becasue there's no shame in the defeat. It was a young 'Well team, one still knitting together and not yet fully match fit , but they will learn from a game against such good opponents - it's how you improve - and an early goal in the second leg could make it exciting, though it probably wouldn't change the outcome. Win, lose, or draw, such fixtures are valuable. Top marks to Ruddy in goal. It's no exaggertion to say Steaua could have doubled their score but for him.
  12. World class stop from Ruddy low down. Top marks.
  13. Great save then sitter missed by 'Well on the rebound !
  14. Yes, nice play as it was, you can't be giving a guy a free header in the six yard box. They are a much better side but 'Well have made too easy at times.
  15. I went for 2-1 so still on track Cracking goal
  16. That will lift them and dispirit Steaua. Could be a vital save !
  17. Unlucky Craigan. Bugger of a way to fall behind
  18. 'Well caught cold by the speed of the Steaua start, but no harm done. Retain possession and keep calm.
  19. Well done sir. Adverts just now, but hopefully the match will appear soon.
  20. You win nothing with kids, Rick . Copyright A Hansen
