  1. I know some smaller clubs ( Manchester City ) do a loyalty to scheme, so the longer you have an S.T. the bigger the discount you get when re-newing. An S.T. holder of five or ten years might get anywhere between 25 and 50 per cent off the re-newal price. I know someone whose dad pays less than £250 for his City ticket because he's had it 25 years. Those type of policies might only have a marginal effect at a club like Motherwell, but if combined with other initiatives and a decent side might see attendances rise. A bit of imagination might reap rewards.
  2. Seems the most logical figure. Be nice if the club could get that increased, with Fir Park holding 13,000. Not easy due to the cost of football now and the pull of the Old Firm in Lanarkshire, but surely there must be a way to get that figure up ?
  3. How many S.T. holders do 'Well have just now ? 3,000 or so ?
  4. You'll be fine, highland. There are a hundred places on the trip, so you shouldn't have any problem. Get them phoned first thing Monday, if it isn't sorted before.
  5. Some well balanced posts on the McGhee era here. The guy deserves huge credit for achieving third place in the season after the Malpas disaster. That was some going ! He handled the O'Donnell tragedy with great dignity, and, according to lots of fans who use this forum, had the team playing some really nice football. Perhaps he took his eye off the ball in his second season, perhaps he came to regret not taking the Hearts job and so lost some of the fire in his belly; I'm not qualified to say. But give the guy some credit for his time at Motherwell, and, as others have pointed out, the depletion of the squad can't all be blamed upon him.
  6. Flow must feel like he can't win, a bit like the guys in the club shop. Had the club not provided travel plans some folk would have been outraged. "You'd think for a tie like this the club would have organised something", would definitely have appeared somewhere. Charter flight is provided and "it's a rip-off". It's there for any fans who like the convenience and security of official travel, though it won't be the cheapest option. If any travelling fans prefer to do it their own way on a budget, good on them. Horses for courses.
  7. I think you can get the ESPN thirty games and their EPL games for £12 per month for non-Sky subscribers. You don't have to have Sky to get the ESPN coverage.
  8. Surely that doesn't mean what I think it means Sad to hear of the possible demise of an organisation like this. All clubs, no matter how big or small, should have an independent voice for the fans, so if it bites the dust I hope something else arises from the ashes to represent supporters interests.
  9. Now there's a gentleman. It isn't easy to be so gracious after a heavy defeat, but it's good to know you had a good experience off the pitch at least. You travelled a long way for the game and it's a shame your team let you down badly on the night, but I'm sure the 'Well fans will appreciate your taking the time the compliment them.
  10. Are Sky advertising how to pay the £9 for ESPN yet ?
  11. Good info, Hot, thanks, and it should be a good tie. You will start as favourites for sure, but Motherwell could provide a strong challenge. I may be proved wrong, but I predict a tight score over two legs.
  12. You're right. I didn't even notice that
  13. Only that they are currently the sixth best team in Romania and are pre-qualifying for Europe in the same way as Motherwell. The Romanian league isn't renowned for its strength, which suggest to me they aren't a great side these days. If they were vastly superior to Motherwell, they wouldn't be meeting at this very early stage.
  14. Of course it's possible. You're playing Steaua 2008, not Steaua 1986, and you play their team on the night, not their history. Their current position suggests they are average and could be beaten by Motherwell, and whilst it won't be easy, it isn't impossible. If Steaua were a real force, they wouldn't be pre-qualifying for the Europa League. It could be a very closely contested tie this.
  15. 8-1 F.T. I presume you're fairly satisfied with that
  16. Great touch, giving the little ball boy who got hurt a standing ovation. And he lapped it up, waving to them
  17. What is Motherwell's record victory, by the way ?
  18. Cynical in your old age, big fella. Wait and see, and it will be convenient for some.
  19. Very true, Gannon has picked a very young team and left out several established names, and they're re-paying the faith put in them. Very impressive, regardless of opposition.
