  1. Have so many players been sold due to financial necessity, or is just coincidence that offers have been made that have proved too good to refuse ? I thought 'Well's books are pretty healthy right now ?
  2. I'm still sure you'll progress and I'm going for 3-0 in Wales. The players will be itching to make amends.
  3. Very good point about undisclosed fees. There must be some reason why so many transfers are now subject to this. Is it a tax fiddle ?
  4. You review gay porn, super ?
  5. Top man. He'll appreciate that I'm sure
  6. How many Llannelli fans made the journey? Is that all of them in the pic ?
  7. Hawl, nuts, he's a fellow dosser. If you don't need it, give it him gratis
  8. Nobody could begrudge them their celebrations following what was an amazing result, and lots of folk on here were graceful enough to congratulate Llanelli. But the in the best traditions of football cliches, it's only half-time and I strongly fancy 'Well to turn it around. Their pride has been hurt and they will be desperate to put it right. 3-0 down in the valleys.
  9. Nobody can begrudge you or anybody else the letting off of steam. Gannon certainly did the same. Who knows whether next week will prove too soon, but in time Gannon will create a good side I'm sure.
  10. Fucking hell fire Never thought I'd see a Motherwell bloke dressed like that
  11. I agree with the general thrust of your argument, star sail, and you make it very well. Such an embarrassing defeat isn't excusable, though to be fair, nobody seems to be saying as much. Rather, some are fatalistically saying the writing was on the wall due to last night's team in comparison to last season's. Motherwell should beat Llanelli every time, no question, some are just making the point that Llanelli caught 'Well at the perfect time i.e. during a time of huge transition. Gannon was right to speak to his mind and to demand better, and the guy's record shows he has to the ability to get that.
  12. You could make that case for sure : new manager with only a couple of days in the job, a number of first teamers from last season gone, a 'home tie' played in another town. None of that bodes well against a team playing the biggest match of their lives. Still a huge upset - I believe someone said Llanelli were 14/1 before kick off - but as has been mentioned, not unique in Motherwell's history and there is a still a chance for redemption. Good to get some historical context from those in the know anyway.
  13. Surely it can only be a good thing when a new manager has enough self-belief to blast the team after his first game. He's letting them know he won't accept complacency or respect reputations, so you either prove your worth or you will be shown the nearest exit. It's a refreshing approach which is so much better than the usual platitudes and cliches football people produce.
  14. Cheers for the info. To be fair then, there were strong mitigating circumstances for that defeat, even though it was 0-8.
  15. Was Fergie the boss up there then, mate? To be fair, they were some team.

I can only re-iterate again that my home top looks and feels great and I haven't had a problem with it. I hope the majority think the same.
  17. You wouldn't expect 'Well fans to be feeling deliriously happy right now, WM. Of course there will be negative feelings expressed, but it doesn't mean folk take pleasure in expressing them. They want to see their team do well, and defeats to Llanelli don't represent that. When results merit positivity this board represents them, I've seen it many times.
  18. Things look bleak right now, but you have a man in charge who is capable of turning it around. Of course opposition fans will laugh at last night's result, that's the nature of football rivalry and you would be doing the same had it been any other SPL club. Gannon has a big job in completely restructuring his squad, he needs fresh blood in quickly, but he's a very good young manager who will relish the challenge. Sometimes you have to go backwards before you can move forwards, and last night, whilst being a big step back, will have proved to Gannon just how much he has to do. The inadequacies are there staring him in the face and he will be aware of the changes required, which in the long run will serve Motherwell better than an early false dawn.
  19. Apologies, not looking to be negative, the analysis is there on the match thread and doesn't need going over again. Just looking for historical perspective from you guys with much greater knowledge of results than myself.
  20. A few weeks ago I started a thread in which I asked for recollections of the best and worst Motherwell performances you experienced Steelmen and Steelburds had seen. In a similar vein, where does last night's defeat rank on the list of worst defeats ? Have 'Well ever lost a competitive match against such lowly opposition - no offence to Llanelli meant.
