  1. Thanks for confirming that. It's good Motherwell attracted four fairly big names, and of those my initial thought would have been to make Boothroyd strong favourite, so Gannon must have really impressed the panel. When he left Stockport fans on the regional news were saying he's the best manager they had ever had. I recall a letter in the Manchester Evening News written by a fan in his eighties who said Gannon was the best he had seen there! Exciting appointment and hopefully he will live up to expectations.
  2. Boothroyd was one of the four interviewed, was he ? Who were the others ? Edit - Actually you mention Staunton and Gannon there, so I assume it was them. Gannon beaat off three bigger names and must have been very impressive.
  3. Hottest day of the year in Scotland apparently
  4. Sorry if this has already been discussed, but how much money do you guys think Gannon will be given for new signings? The squad is down to the bare bones and new recruits are imperative.

I didn't have last year's home Bukta, so can't compare, but I think the material of the new shirt feels great. It's very smooth and lightweight. No catches on mine at all , and compared to most other football shirts I've had feels great.
  6. This is brilliant news, and I mean brilliant. In the 'who would we get' thread I praised Gannon highly, following his spell at Stockport, not far from me at all. This guy is very highly rated ; young, hungry, loved by his players. He worked miracles at a penniless Stockport, and if he can reproduce anything like that at Fir Park, he will get the best from his squad. He has a reputation for producing attractive football. This would be a coup and should give you guys some exciting times.
  7. That's a very kind offer, mate, and I have to say it's within the spirit of the folk on this forum generally, the vast majority of whom are bob on. We don't know whether we'll be able to make it or not yet, but I'll certainly let you know asap. Great gesture

How can the original look like a fake ? We're getting into metaphysics and the nature of reality. Wonder what Stephen Hawking makes of the new 'Well shirt ? I still think it looks really good. The material is high quality and the stitching is superb, and as Dave said, the demand wouldn't be there for the £90 player version.
  9. If the good lady and I manage to make Llanelli, I trust tickets bought over the phone are posted and don't have to be collected in person ?
  10. Fair do's, mate. You guys see him every week and can testify to his progress.
  11. When I first arrived on this board Clarkson was the object of ridicule due to his inability to find the net. Has he improved that much to now be a million pound player ? Though the way transfer fees have escalated I can't be far off being worth a million
  12. Bloody celtic nations thick as thieves.
  13. I've cancelled the D.D. with the bank, but do I need to bother informing Setanta, considering the fact they are off air ?
  14. I don't think he was being serious, Alun. Your club has to put its own interests first, that goes without saying. Hopefully it can be resolved for the benefit of everyone i.e. game moved, Llanelli make a few bob and all the 'Well fans who want to travel can get a ticket. But don't win the tie. You could ruin my marriage
  15. Free drink all night for a couple of thousand Scots. File under "how to bankrupt yourself in a single day"
  16. On the face of it you would think so, and I'm sure the Motherwell delegation heading down to Wales will present the figures of estimated travelling support and the utter inadequacy of the ticket allocation, but as weeyin says, it will all come down to the maths. Money will be very tight at Llanelli and they will only change the venue if it makes financial sense. Hopefully the option of moving to the Scarlets rugby ground can be a win-win for everyone.

That would take the biscuit, even from Partick's pink and grey one from last season.
  18. If they stick to their guns regarding the venue, that will be a grand total of FIFTY tickets for Motherwell fans, assuming they can sell out the rest.
  19. For all 'Well's squad limitations and the managerial vacuum just now, you should win the tie with plenty to spare. It would be humiliating to be knocked out in the first qualifying round by a part time team who play in a part time league. You can never say never in cup football, but over two legs there would be no excuse for not progressing. A professional and disciplined performance should be enough.

It would look better with the Canterbury logo on the sleeves and the blobs on the sides embroidered. However, that's a minor criticism of what's a very nice shirt. Looking forward to seeing your new away one.
  21. Yeah, you're right, Malky. I'll call the bank tonight.
  22. So, do we need to even cancel the direct debits, or will it cease taking the money anyway ?
  23. So who on here writes for the Herald ?
