  1. Too right, in football anything is possible. We might even score three goals.
  2. As a word of caution, here a few random quotes pre Albion Rovers. Even MJC took us for an easy win.
  3. That title has never stopped lower league teams from beating us in the past. Albion Rovers, anyone? The only loser in this tie is us. If we get beat (god forbid), it will go down as one of the biggest upsets in the history of the Scottish Cup. If we win, we will have done what the majority will expect us to do. Failing to win this one, IS NOT AN OPTION!
  4. Interesting approach to tempt Thistle fans to go to the game on Saturday...
  5. Whilst I agree you need to remain within touching distance of the teams around you, even Dundee United will believe that they will avoid the relegation or the play-off spot, despite already being 8 points adrift of 10th place. If we are detached come late January, I will think about pushing the panic button.
  6. Never an easy place to go, however, I was pleasantly surprised by our application on Saturday. More of the same and we can expect to at least least take something from the game. 2-1 to the good guys.
  7. Doesn’t matter who we get as I always prepare myself for an early exit in the cup. Are Albion Rovers still in it?
  8. This was my first game in some time and I wasn’t expecting much, however, we were nowhere near as bad as I had feared. I reckon a draw was probably a fair result and we managed to score two goals in the process. I have not seen the highlights, however, at the time I thought Ripley should have dealt with the second goal. On the plus side I was impressed with Moult and no one could ever accuse him of lack of effort. All in all it was a good point from a team who have been flying high of late. Onwards and upwards.
  9. Your recent podcast summed up the apathy that I have towards Motherwell at this present time. Recently, I have been seeking out other things to occupy my time on match days. I would rather be earning some money, or enjoying myself than freezing my balls off watching the dross that we currently pass off as football. However, it looks like I will be going to the game on saturday, unless I get a better offer before 3pm.
  10. Are we brave enough? Our 1886 blue and white striped, lace collared shirt, complete with claret and amber trims.
  11. Yes our original colours were blue and white, however, we have worn claret and amber for over 100 years and it would only be fitting to continue that for next seasons 130 years home kit. Our 2013, 100 years of C&A third shirt paid tribute to our Glencairn/Alpha roots and I would be surprised if we went down that route again so soon. You can experiment with the away kit colour, although I do like to see flashes of C&A somewhere on it. I am at an age now where I no longer buy replica strips, however, I have been critical of the way that our usual club badge has been reproduced on our kits. I am a supporter of having a quality stitched badge and in recent times I have been less than impressed by the way that the badge has looked. This doesn’t just apply just to Motherwell, much bigger clubs are also adopting a ‘cheaper,’ easier approach to branding their replica shirts.
  12. I haven’t posted a fantasy kit in a while, however, here are a couple of quick home and away designs that I found lurking on my hard drive. Both tops are based on recent 2014-15 Macron templates (I think Aston Villa and Millwall). I love our current home homage to the 70s diagonal sash, However, as we approach our 130th anniversary we should hopefully see the return of the simple, no-nonsense, claret hoop. As Europe is out of the question, it would also leave us free to produce a home shirt with a classic front to back hoop (UEFA frown upon anything that gets in the way of the shirt numbers). This seasons pinstriped away seen a welcome return to C&A on our away top. I hope it sent a clear message out that we need to have at least a small hint of C&A on any future away kits. This is Cash Converters final year as our shirt sponsor (?), and while their financial backing has been welcome, hopefully we can attract a sponsor that isn’t from the loans, gambling or alcohol sector.
  13. Another defeat, this time at the hands of high flying Hearts. 3-1 to the Jambos.
  14. Dougie Imrie scored another vital goal for Hamilton today, love him or hate him you can’t deny he gets under the skin of nearly every team he plays against. A missed opportunity, signing wise?
  15. Even Sir Alex would struggle to get us out of this current slump. Unless we make changes to the player personnel, or by some miracle McGhee turns this squad around, we are heading for at least another play-off. I sometimes wonder in the long term if a spell in the lower divisions might just do us some good, by forcing us to bring through more young talent. Either way, it’s only November and I am already expecting us to be in a play-off with either Hibs or Rangers.
  16. We have been like a wounded animal since McCalls final season in charge. In hindsight, Baraclough’s appointment was like sticking an elastoplast on a severed leg. It’s still early, however, it is looking like McGhee will also struggle to stem the flow of blood that has been pishing out of us since McCall’s departure. Eventually, the teams around us will start to smell blood and at this present time I have no faith in the players at McGhee’s disposal. We are fortunate that Mixu appears to be having a similar problem at United and ultimately it will come down to which manager can stem the flow first.
  17. According to a caller on Off the Ball our Summer Cup kit ended up at Neilson Juniors as payment for the transfer of Dixie Deans.
  18. All the Well fans who went up to Dingwall deserve a medal in the New Years Honours list for paying to watch that.
  19. Sadly we haven’t learned from last seasons relegation scare and I wouldn’t be surprised if we are in the play-off again this season.
  20. Rangers are stronger and Hibs are stronger. At this present time I can only see one outcome.
