Pishing it down here, abandon the game.
-
That’s a cracking turnout for a game that’s on the telly. Fair play to those Jambos and kerching for us.
-
This might be in our favour. 700-800 pissed off Jambos on a cold wet Fir Park getting on the players and managers back. We just need an early goal to rile them.
-
This ^^^. You can never be cocky against any Hearts side. They have a much bigger ‘Ann’ budget than us (sorry!) and we will need to make our home advantage count.

2019/2020 Game 2: Celtic (H) August 10th 12pm Kick off
underboyleheating replied to David's topic in Club Chat
Last night Celtic‘s defensive frailties were shown up by an average european side. However, out with the other SPFL ‘big’ spender Rangers Celtic will still steam roller the other 10 premiership teams. The race for third and the battle to avoid relegation is the real competition. -

He’s continued that form with Aberdeen today. -

I’m not sure what to make of Ilic. He seems like a hard worker, however, I get the feeling he’s the kind of player who would contrive to miss an open goal from two yards. -
Yes I parked there on Saturday, however, I normally park in the civic and have done for as long as I can remember. I’m not sure if the recently installed barriers will be an issue, however, I didn’t want to take any chances.

Correct I’m a long time fan who does graphic design and photography for a full time living. I have done this job for 35+ years. However, I did win the 2006 design a Motherwell kit competition and my description was based on the original concept I submitted to the club for the competition. I was also involved in the production of the artwork for the Bukta made mid 1970’s white away retro top and provided historical advice on the shirt details to help make it as accurate as possible to the Admiral original. I was also commissioned to redraw the classic 60s/70s MFC monogram for our more recent retro 125 anniversary shirt. The monogram script is still being used occasionally on our kits and is something that I have championed on here for many years. I have also designed a few amateur kits in my spare time that have successfully gone into production. On a Motherwell related note I also provide the illustrations for the ‘Daft Laddie’ tee shirts produced by Well fan Matt Johnstone. Although not involved with this seasons away top it is worth noting that it’s identical to a mock up that I created around a year and a half ago which I posted on here and on Twitter. The kit was a colour change that I suggested to a pre existing Macron shirt that I thought would look good converted to C&A. I can’t say whether my mock up inspired the powers that be to push ahead with that pre existing template, but I’m glad that I posted it as the finished shirt looks great in C&A. I even bought one at the weekend.

Surely Lafferty would cost about as much as Shankland?
-
There is no money in football at that level so it must be a hobby. I’m not sure what I’m more shocked about, the 12k a month or the 300k signing on fee. That’s surely Rangers, Aberdeen territory?
-
Wow! So he’s being paid £12k a month and was given 300k to sign? Not that I’m doubting you, however, if true that’s just crazy.
-
We have never managed to replace Moult in what is a difficult position to fill for a team with our limited budget. Occasionally you can hit the jackpot with a Higdon or a Moult but these are few and far between. I would have liked to have signed Shankland as I believe he could have easily made the step up into the premiership and he has a good eye for goal.

2019/2020 Game 2: Celtic (H) August 10th 12pm Kick off

We were the better side for the first 30 minutes and only poor defending and some dodgy decisions by the officials punished us. Interesting to note in Robinson’s post match interview he highlighted that some of our players general fitness levels are not what they should be. Extra gym work required by some of the team. -
Sign outside says... “Car park strictly for GP’s, health centre staff and patients only.” Is this rule enforced?
-
There is a concert on tomorrow at 7.30 so they will need to remain open for that. So I’m hopeful that any barriers will remain open for the duration of the game.
-
Ah bummer. That could be an issue. I think I will be looking for an alternative space tomorrow.
-
I normally park there, has something changed?
-
Exactly, and that’s why you need to rely on officially registered colours. I’m shocked at how bright that Everton shirt looks for it’s age, perhaps it was a spare and didn’t get much use.
-
As a point of reference, pictured is a photograph of an original royal blue Everton shirt from 100 years ago. Our shirt before we switched to C&A would have been this shade of blue...
-
Yes it was based on an online image of a printed illustrated card. I sampled the colour in photoshop and hey presto the petrol blue myth was born. If you have an actual printed copy of that card it’s highly likely that the blue will be slightly different to the online scan. Colour can also vary depending on the scanner used for scanning. Although, it should also be noted that printing around that time wasn’t that accurate and it’s always best to go with official registered documents, which state that we wore royal blue/light blue. I produced various ‘Sampdoria style’ mock-ups in petrol blue in the knowledge that some of our fan base would have been opposed to the actual registered royal blue of the time. The top was eventually released to celebrate a 100 Years of Claret & Amber. In theory it should have reflected either our first or last blue colour, but instead we used a blue that we didn’t wear at that time. Personally I’m fine with that as the shade chosen went well with C&A and it was still blue. Although, it should be noted that Glencairn and Alpha who merged to form Motherwell wore identical navy and white outfits, which were also a very common choice in Scotland at the time. This was much darker than the Royal/Light Blue that we registered as our colour in 1886. So basically we wore the same blue as any other team who wore royal blue, including (whisper it) Glasgow Rangers. Also known as the light blues. The card in question. Notice how the blue shade changes on these two separate scans. It’s also an illustration and the paint/ink used to illustrate it will also have an effect on the final colour. The third illustration is more accurate representation of a how a new Royal blue/light blue shirt would have looked like. A few points of note from the Historical Kits website.

Superb! Well done to all concerned.
-
We’ve certainly never had a combination like that before. I’ve always been a firm supporter of having a C&A away shirt that compliments a traditional home kit. Our colours are unique, and I believe we should use them whenever possible.
-
Yes, that’s why any design I do which involves blue will always be petrol in shade.
