Our original blue would have been the standard royal blue fabric dye of the time, think Rangers. The petrol shade was derived from an illustration on a cigarette card from the time but going by existing blue shirts from around that era that shade wasn’t available.

The above Roma sash top got me thinking about next seasons away which is usually planned well in advance. I do love a sash top and would love to see a revival of the 70s C&A away sash shirt. Although white has always been my preferred away colour, it’s unlikely that next seasons away will be white, as we normally switch it up every season. I’ve quickly mocked up a few different base colours (white, petrol blue, warm grey, black) to wet your appetite for 2020-21. Perhaps another petrol blue top could be the answer? Although I know that can divide opinions. Whatever we opt for it must contain some flashes of C&A within the design. The classic retro sash look with a modern twist will always be in fashion...

Ajax, I mean Celtic are currently 1-0 down to Cluj. Edit: 1-1 now finished 1-1 and as far as I can tell Celtic are unscathed. Although Tierney is off to Arsenal. -

He looked unstoppable at the weekend. However, even I would have looked unstoppable against St Johnstone. -

The Cluj manager has compared Celtic to Ajax and believes Celtic can replicate the dutch sides champions league run last season. Whilst Celtic have a decent free flowing attacking style they will come nowhere near to emulating Ajax’s success last season. Although, I’m sure his reverse psychology won’t work on Neil Lennon or the players. However, I’m hoping for a few injuries and perhaps a delayed flight on the way home to weaken them slightly before the midday kick off. Every little helps. -

Celtic should have had at least 10. St Johnstone were that bad. -

A bonus if we take anything from it, however, Celtic will take 6 or 7 goals off better teams than us this season. Batten down the hatches time. -
Agreed, while plastic is not fantastic there are plenty of teams who will go there this season and hump them.
-
Partly down to the pitch.
-
Having watched the stream, 0-0 was probably a fair result at the Tony Maca-phoney stadium. Livi looked the most likely on the plastic pitch, however, hopefully when we get back to our grass roots the performance will improve.

Saving money by not making money. The world has gone mad.

Macron are releasing optional straight jacket shirts for our team, that’s how serious they are treating this new rule.

It will soon be as common as Celtic winning the league. The bookies will be giving you odds on games not having penalties. I suspect we will need to practice more at aiming the ball at a players hand, as it will be the difference between winning or losing in the majority of the games.
-
Two very soft penalties, however, Danny slotted them home. I think due to the rule change nearly every game in the SPFL this season could have at least one penalty.

Scott would have hated the collar on my 1978-79 Motherwell kit competition entry. Designed from the embers of glam rock and Ziggy Stardust. Good to see that Roma and Nike have revived my sash lightening bolt concept.
-
I have a particular fondness for it myself. I originally designed it as a full hoop with past and present players names sublimated onto the claret hoop. But sadly those elements never made it onto the final top.
-
I attempted to revive our classic hooped sleeve era in 2006. Time to pay it another visit at some point.

Our best recent ‘home’ hoop shirt that never was.

One consolation is that the Historical Kits website doesn’t recognise the current Airdrie as the same club, so they have separate kit sections. Pity they didn’t do the same with Rangers. Airdrieonians - Formed 1878. Wound up in 2002 Airdrie United - Formed 2002. Rebranded Airdrie in 2012

I think apart from the 1994-96 Pony and 2009-10 Canterbury tops they all have a front only band, or it’s ignored completely. Note, I designed the 2006-07 top with a proper front to back hoop, but the club/Xara decided to change it. It’s the equivalent to Airdrie settling for a red V rather than their traditional red diamond, or Celtic not continuing the green hoops onto the back of their shirts. Basically it would never happen, unless they are playing in Europe.
-
Correct. No matter which era you grew up in, history is still history. If we play fast and loose with our original hoop heritage it will slowly disappear from memory. Celtic, Boca and Airdrie fans young or old are still as passionate about their kit heritage today, as they were when it was first adopted many years ago. Okay, you do need to go the extra mile with your kit manufacturer to make it happen year in, and year out. And be prepared to alter it occasionally to adhere to those stupid UEFA Euro competition rules. But it will be all worth it in the end to uphold a clubs heritage. Motherwell could learn a thing or two from the diamonds of Airdrie, and it’s not often you will hear me say that in a football context. However, in an upholding of a kit tradition contest they are miles ahead. There is still time to change, many clubs larger or smaller than us still manage it successfully. Lets start now and make sure that next seasons home kit properly reflects our kit heritage and save our hoop for future generations. #SaveOurHoop
