  1. No contest Aztec wins hands down. The shirt also looks better with the old iconic Ian Skelly logo .
  2. Agreed the Aztec one is far superior on the small details. The club badge on the Copa is not accurate to the 85-87 original as at the time we had more white on the badge. Not for me I’m afraid.
  3. Our top six coffin has been nailed shut after Hib’s victory over Livi last night. I also expect Hearts to grind out enough points to pip us or St Johnstone to the coveted sixth place.
  4. Keith MacRae and Tam Forsyth feature in this Scottish League select. And three ex Well managers! Davie Hay, Jock Wallace and Tommy McLean
  5. Potentially that could be his final gig in management at a semi decent level.
  6. You could be on to something. According to YouTube our 94-96 Pony kit was worn in this 93-94 game against Rangers. Motherwell 2 Rangers 1, April 94
  7. The 94-96 was a great kit with some great detail (claret buttons on the collar!). It was also at the orange end of the amber spectrum and more in keeping with our original dark amber that was used in our first C&A top.
  8. Yes it demonstrates the subtle importance of amber over the more commonly used yellow. I’m always dismayed when clubs play fast and loose with their branding and signature colours. We chose our colours for a good reason and we should never ever take them for granted. Clubs are more conscious of branding these days and Motherwell have made great strides in this department in recent years. On this forum I’ve campaigned on several MFC branding and kit issues and it’s heartening to see a few of them have been taken on board. The introduction of the original MFC monogram rather than the bog standard script font on kits/training wear was a huge step forward. I was boring myself with the amount of times I mentioned/campaigned for it on here. They got so bored with my whining that they ask me to draw it for them. Modern takes on classic kits is another thing I have pushed for and it’s been heartening to see a few modern retro inspired offerings like the 70s sash kit or our original blue top combined with C&A. The 125 retro anniversary was another milestone that recognised our 1960s signature top. So I’ve been quietly happy with the way our kits have been going recently, however, I just wish we could afford to ditch the Betting Dot Com sponsor as it ruins the kit. Or perhaps agree with the sponsor to allow us to sell a non sponsored version along side it.
  9. How the Motherwell adidas shirt would have looked like with a claret hoop and also in amber rather than yellow. A missed opportunity I think.
  10. Our final opportunity to get in via the triple locked Euro back door. Even Brexit has a better chance of success than the Scottish National Team.
  11. Almost certainly playing for 7th and three points against St Johnstone would go some way towards achieving that.
  12. Hearing reports that a fight broke out between McFadden and McGregor in the changing rooms after the Kazakhstan debacle. I wouldn’t be surprised to see McFadden and Mcleish being sacked after another embarrassing result.
  13. In the early days (1970s) apart from a few exceptions adidas made their name producing one or two simplistic templates, whereas Admiral were the complete opposite and offered clubs several templates to choose from. From a personal point of view I believe Umbro make the best football shirts and will be for ever known as the manufacturer of our classic 1960-69 signature top. We’ve won more major cups wearing Umbro than any other manufacturer, however, that wouldn’t be hard as Admiral are the only other manufacturer bestowed with that honour. Although to be fair our 1st division league trophy wins were won wearing adidas (81-82) and Patrick (84-85).
  14. Of the current adidas templates this seasons Fulham offering would suit us the best.
  15. We became Notting Hamwell F.C. for that period in our kit history. The Frankenstein monster mash up was born out of the then bright yellow Nottingham Forest away top and the West Ham home shirt for the claret sections. You can clearly see the butchering in some of the images from the time as the stitching on the stripes was not a 100% on some of the shirts. I’ve only ever saw one match worn version of that shirt and even that was from a distance. Sadly we weren’t important enough to get our very own amber cloth from adidas, and we even had to borrow Dundee United’s white away shirt when we played them in a match at Fir Park. For one day only it was Dundee United playing Dundee United. Notting Hamwell F.C. (aka Motherwell F.C.)
  16. I’ve never got that from him, the complete opposite in fact. That was my assumption Frazzie that he still has a soft spot for Motherwell.
  17. We need the money and top six is worth more to us. So top six all the way.
  18. Great to see. Does Well legend Ian St John ever get involved in the ex-players club? I know he still does the odd thing for Liverpool.
  19. Mine arrived on Friday and I have to agree it is a belter. It’s actually better than the original Umbro retro as the badge is stitched. Yip a classic revisited.
